.... Why can't they have us leave Claws drawn while we use Air Superiority! Would this truly break anything....? What is the point of making us redraw every damn time, its so annoying.
/endrant.
[/ QUOTE ]When every pool power and secondary/primary set animations that can be combined with weapons is given the 24 new animations it'd need for the different weapons (dual-weapon, left-handed, right-handed, right w/shield; for male, female, and huge; with in-flight and non-flight variations), or the entire animation engine is revamped, that's when redraw will be eliminated. -

this game should lower its monthly fee to $9.99 instead of 14.99 imo. its getting old. its 5yrs old now. any game this old should not be going for 14.99/month still. if the rate wasn't so high i would keep my subscription going for a longer time. since its so high i will only subscribe for one more month before quiting.

when someone said that domination was getting nerfed, I was... extremelly skeptical. The more I learn, though, the more that the change seems like a positive. As someone recently reminded me in the PvP forums, however, there is a significant chance that dom's damage buff will be removed and NOT replaced with any corresponding increase in the PvP damage of domintor attacks, but PvP is a fairly small portion of the game. For most game-play, it will increase the over-all power of the class.
[/ QUOTE ]Actually, I doubt that's possible. The damage change to Doms is in their damage modifiers, which I'm 90% certain is in the class of "can't be different between PvP and PvE". After all, every other AT keep their damage mods the same between PvE and PvP. -

I ran into this last night as the leader of an ITF group. The person I eventually kicked kept dying quickly and would wait from 5 - 10 mins to either use an awaken or go to the hospital. Once at the hospital, it took them another 5 - 10 minutes to come back to the mission.
After the frist three missions I sent a tell warning them that they needed to participate more actively in the TF. Sure enough, they came to the mission right after. Once inside, however, the person just sat there...then made their way to the final confrontation area with Romulus, put themselves into Rest and proceeded to do nothing while we fought Romulus. I told the person that if they weren't back by the time we'd killed him 3 times, then they were out. Sure enough, they didn't respond or help, so they were gone.
I'm pretty sure this was a case of someone seeking free merits with no effort - and I didn't think that was fair to the rest of us.
[/ QUOTE ]They'd have been gone as soon as I saw them leave the team, with a /t <name>, I warned you. You participate in the TF, or you get kicked.
As well as a 1-star and player note about them being a leecher. -
Nerfs? Where the hell are you getting the idea this is a nerf?
It's a *straight buff*, except in extreme edge-cases (perma-double-dom is edge, triple is with pocket kins ony), which are made up for by only losing out between 5 and 15% damage, which is easily made up for by taking assault, or having room for Fiery Embrace, Aim, or Soul Drain to actually work their magic. -

Am I one of the ten? or did you miss me and we are at 11?
[/ QUOTE ]
I've played mine off and on since launch. Does that make me 12?
If I understand the suggested changes (and I'm not saying I do), I'm in favor of them.
[/ QUOTE ]That's what I saw in it.
Dominator damage will now be a higher baseline all the time (baseline as in before enchancements/Aim/FE/SD), and without Domination sucking up potential damage buffs, the loss of ~12% damage from double-dom will really not mean much since you'll actually have room for more damage buffs to come in, instead of double-dom and enhancers eating up all but 50% of your damage buff cap. -

[Self Destruct] reads "Ignores buffs and enhancements" in it's damage info.

Most are like that. Buffs to accuracy work ANYWAY.
[/ QUOTE ]For the last time, Yellows don't buff accuracy, and never have. They buff ToHit. Which is not an aspect of the power, but of the player. -

Last member of a family horribly slaughtered by some fiendish villain, who in his anguish over the death of everyone he's ever known learns how to reanimate corpses (or it's their mutant ability, or the spirits of his family can't pass on until they're avenged) and does this with the bodies of his family.
No "disrespect to the living relatives" as you are the only living relative.
Sure, you're using dark powers, but there are plenty of heroes who do that already. -
Yes, but the safeguard is *already* in place, and removing it is just a, well, silly idea. Especially since it takes, at most a minute to type in a password.

Do inspies buff temp powers?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, Inspirations are a global buff.
[/ QUOTE ] But some powers "ignore buffs", in which case, yellows wouldn't make a difference.
You can't make it do more damage by popping reds first either.
[/ QUOTE ]Even if it did, Yellows are +ToHit, not +Acc. Powers cannot ignore ToHit buffs because ToHit buffs do not affect powers directly, they affect players. -
That 30 seconds is there for a reason, Teeko.
As for "quit to character select" or "quit to server select"? Bad idea. Especially with the in-game store now. If I were to leave my laptop alone for a minute to get a drink refill, someone could accidentally buy a bunch of character slots, spending money I may not have. -

It doesn't hurt for everyone on the team to go to Bloody Bay and pick up a Shivan. That detour is less time than experiencing multiple team wipes.
[/ QUOTE ]
And this is why I'll never do a STF, a LRSF, or Hamidon raid, as you seem to be expected to have a shivan and a nuke or two for those. I haven't been in a PvP zone since Issue 6 went live, and I'm not about to go in one now.
[/ QUOTE ]nukes and shivans.... are nowhere near the norm for Hami raids.
[/ QUOTE ]
Shivans no, we do use Bionukes red side though for the brutes and the yellow assault. Its not necessary but really I think we like it
But plenty of times we've done raids without them, its just sort of an added bonus if people happen to come and have them and are willing to use them.
[/ QUOTE ]I forgot about Red-hami-style, but there's only 2 or 3 that bring them. I should remember since I'm one of the only three level 50 /TA masterminds on Virtue. -

This whole idea of having to log back in with your password being considered "protection" is a farce.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
People I know have shared their passwords with girlfriends and the minute they break up, their toons vanish.
[/ QUOTE ]
Imagine how difficult that would be if they didn't share the password. Or any of the other situations mentioned here. No annoyed brother/SO/etc seeing the game running and deciding to delete everything. Situations that, yes, HAVE been mentioned in the past.
[ QUOTE ]
How often would any of these proposed incidents occur? Not often enough to even be blip on customer services' radar. Besides, they can actually restore your deleted character.
[/ QUOTE ]
And by requiring logging out to an area that requires your password, it's even less of an issue, and even fewer restorations end up getting requested, freeing CS to take care of other petitions. Besides, the times I *do* hear of getting a character restored, the person who gets it done talks about weeks of waiting.
Requiring a password = no waiting, since the character is not deleted unless you *chose* to give the person your password.
What would you rather have to do - wait 30 whole long, agonizing seconds to log back in, or wait weeks and hope you get your character back?
[/ QUOTE ]Honestly, any of these proposed "incidents" would be rare at best. And why would you leave your computer unattended in the vicinity of someone you apparently can't trust to begin with? Seems to me these fictional victims have bigger problems.
[/ QUOTE ]Forgetfulness. Not everyone has the memory of a goldfish and remembers to log out when others are around. Other times you might have thought you could trust someone but it turns out you can't, or someone comes home early. -

Might I take this moment to point out Dungeons & Dragons? Good/Evil-Lawful/Chaotic. A system invented years before computer games were sophisticated enough to include those kinds of scales.

Now Paragon Studios is about at the same staff strength as when CoV was released. And guess what, there's work on a new CoV-sized release with game engine changes.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you don't think it's fair of me to say there's not going to be extensive changes because they've not been talked about, you can't assume there will be for the same reason.
But we can infer some things.
Infer from what they've released to so far and from the survey this expansion pack is based on. And there NOTHING in that to suggest the expansion is going to be that big.
[ QUOTE ]
I think for right now it might be wise to turn the burner down a notch or two, Johnny. Let's see what the Devs are planning.
[/ QUOTE ]
For two and a half years I've seen what these devs can do.
And I know the results of what they spent the last year and a half doing after they were bought by NCSoft and staffed up.
And that is exactly what's got me down.
.
[/ QUOTE ]Understaffed.
Orientation.
Training.
Do you understand the premise behind those words?
Being woefully understaffed for the better part of a year and still providing updates for the game meant they had no time to actually work on major overhauls.
New hires were then brought on, but you can't sit a coder down to an existing engine and codebase without any training and orientation whatsoever. And, as the devs themselves have said, the engine was not exactly well documented by the original coding team (since you're a tanker fan, I point out Castle's discovery of the way Taunt works being completely different than what the former "powers guy", Geko, had said). It could easily take half a year to get the new team fully trained and oriented to the new "corporate culture" and the codebase they have to work in.
Quite frankly, if you don't get these very simple truths, especially that of training, I question if you've ever even worked a job besides digging ditches, Butane. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Only if they ignore the multiple times these devs have said "Hey, that's a good idea, and we'd love to be able to implement it, but it would require a complete engine overhaul."
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe when those things started to pile up they should have DONE an engine overhaul A YEAR AND A HALF AGO instead of spending that time screwing around pushing out booster packs and trying to chase rainbows like thinking in-game advertising would catch on in a five year old stale title with a shrinking audience.
[/ QUOTE ]A year and a half ago when they had fewer devs on board than it takes people to run a [censored] McDonald's? -

"Champions Online is new so it will kill CoX"
I got tired of hearing it too. Most of this seems to come from people who left here bitter
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe you should wonder WHY they're leaving bitter.
Maybe the devs should too.
[/ QUOTE ]Then they can fill out the questionnaire you're given when you cancel a subscription.
[ QUOTE ]
Could it be that after years of asking for things they want, THESE devs still wont deliver on them but OTHER devs will?
[/ QUOTE ]Only if they ignore the multiple times these devs have said "Hey, that's a good idea, and we'd love to be able to implement it, but it would require a complete engine overhaul."
[ QUOTE ]
Could be it that few or none of these things look like they will be in the overblown issue 16 they're calling an 'expansion'?
[/ QUOTE ]Wow, info first came out about it a week ago. Give them some time for more announcements, why don't you?
[ QUOTE ]
Or that the expansion means that a true sequel to CoH (which may have the things those people want) is not going to happen any time soon?
[/ QUOTE ]Two words about MMO sequels. "Everquest 2".
[ QUOTE ]
If our devs refuse to give these players what they want, and other devs will, why should the players be happy with our devs and why should they stick around? And leaving quietly doesn't deliver the message to these devs WHY people are leaving.
[/ QUOTE ]Freeform power selection: tried in Alpha, didn't work. At this point, changing it would be an entirely new game, and a horrible idea on par with Star Wars Galaxies: New Game Experience.
Power Customization: BABs already explained this. Weapon Customization is step 1, but anything further requires wholesale engine upgrades because animations are baked in.
[ QUOTE ]
If the devs get the message they may smarten up.
Or they may opt not to fight for their business. Frankly, if they're not willing to fight for their customers, that says a lot about how they feel about their customers, and how their customers should feel about them and the game.
[/ QUOTE ]They are, they just can't do the impossible, being as it's, you know.... impossible.

Slotted up, it's a 13.9s mag 2 stun, that pulses every 2 seconds, on an 8 foot radius. This means that within 4 seconds of wading into the mob, everything but an EB/AV is stunned.
[/ QUOTE ] In my experience, no.
Lts. and above have a built-in status protection of 2 or more - so LTs are 1 mag short of being stunned with a mag 2, and Opressive Gloom IS flagged to not stack with same caster.
Note, there are accolades that can increase mez magnitude, and that will will work, but out of the box OG only takes out minions on it's own.
Note, I have a nice NRG/Dark Armor I'm working on, to stack OG with all the stuns.
