A Claws suggestion!
Becaus AS is not a claws power maybe. It also makes all the weapon sets and spines redraw as well.
Well, but this is a good point. Why make ANYone redraw weapons of any kind when using Air Superiority?
Have whatever it is remain in/on the character's hand. Same end result, no redraw and this would be wonderful.
Limitation of the animation engine, that BaBs has mused at great length upon in the past.

.... Why can't they have us leave Claws drawn while we use Air Superiority! Would this truly break anything....? What is the point of making us redraw every damn time, its so annoying.

[/ QUOTE ] Why take air superiority for a claws character? Doesn't it just lower your DPS?
Why take it? because esp. over in CoV, I may want to ground a flier; usually a Longbow Eagle. They love to fly off when you do them any damage; Air Sup knocks them on their keisters where I can tear them to pieces at my leisure.
It is also good for flummoxing bosses who cannot get around the knockdown animation to get more attacks off.
Or I may be hovering on a ranged-attack sort of character who is being harrassed by Freak Stunners. One Air Sup and they're out of melee-range until I get around to giving 'em what they deserve.
Why take Air Sup...? My question is, "how do you people who DON'T take it, do without it?" its uses are literally legion
Because most melee people would rather use a huge -hp debuff instead of a simple KB for mitigation.
Claws and Air superiority do work well together, especially pre-focus.
Been in my power tray sicne ym first ever respec, which would be maybe 50 months ago.
I dont use it so much at the higher levels, but I do exemp a lot with Cat and it makes for a great survivability boost on things like the Posi and Synapse TFs

Funny, I tend to take Air Superiority because I like like Fly over any of the other travel powers, and for a melee combat character I'd rather have another attack than Hover.

[/ QUOTE ]When every pool power and secondary/primary set animations that can be combined with weapons is given the 24 new animations it'd need for the different weapons (dual-weapon, left-handed, right-handed, right w/shield; for male, female, and huge; with in-flight and non-flight variations), or the entire animation engine is revamped, that's when redraw will be eliminated.

Besides... I honestly can't imagine doing the AS motion while gripping a rifle or bow, and having it work... not unless the devs went way above and beyond to make specific animations to make those look convincing, on top of the work required of the devs mentioned in AF's post above me.

Each power that uses a weapon has its own activation sequence, which is what summons and keeps the weapon. If a power has an activation sequence different than that, even if it uses the same weapon model, it will force redraw (or force the weapon away if the power doesn't use a weapon). In order for a power to not cause redraw, it has to have the exact same activation sequence as the weapon currently out which, for a Pool power available to every weapon set in creation, is quite a significant task.
It was either Castle or BABs (or Castle AND BABs) who said that Brawl is by far the power with the game's most complicated activation sequence. Somewhere along the line BABs said it was finally made to inherit weapon activation sequences and play a different animation based on them. Which meant it would have to have a unique (if same-looking) animation for every weapon in the game. And as BABs said, no player would settle for JUST one power doing that.
And that's before we consider that Air Superiority looks pretty silly with a lot of weapons, as the old bug that caused Stone Mallet to play Air Superiority's animation when flying demonstrated.

Exactly; my melee people do not pick up Hover because that would be a wasted power pick for them.

It would? Hover has only a fraction of the cost of Fly, does not suppress and can be DAMN fast if slotted for speed. Granted, if you don't intend to fly WHILE fighting, then I can see not needing Hover, but then... Well, why go for Fly? Where's the fun in that?

I don't hover while fighting melee because its pointless since they nerfed it to no longer supress knockback. Plus a lot of those people have shields which protect them from KB anyway, so it would have been overkill.
My ranged people hover because they are squishy, and this keeps them out of melee range; my melee people of course cannot Assassin Strike from 20 feet in the air, for example, and Hover would get in their way.
I choose Flight because I do not like ground-based powers such as SS due to obstacles. I don't like SJ because after some experimentation with the jump-pack, that uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup and doooooooooooooooooooooooown motion you get as you travel makes my head hurt. [It really does. Gives me a headache]. I have generally not heard good things about teleport as a personal travel power. Why put up with downsides to a pool when I can just pick flight and be happy with everything?
Everyone flies over here. And since I have to have a prereq... on melee people its Air Sup, and my ranged people pick up both that and hover. Air Sup is truly a power that has its uses no matter what kind of character you are on. It usually replaces Brawl in my trays when I get it. Its sort of what Brawl ought to be.

I use AS mostly on squishies that spend a good deal of time in melee range. Otherwise, I stick to Hover for maneuverability, a free boost to defense, and another power to slot the LotG proc.

Some power pools benefit some builds more than they benefit others.
