  1. Started me off thinking, as just got Hover on my lowbie Stone/Stone Dom and found, to my extreme annoyance, that Stone Spears doesnt actually work with hover. At all.
I was miffed for two reasons; 1) its a key part of the attack chain and 2) the description says only that it has to be used agains ENEMIES on the groun. Nothing whatsoever about ME having to be earthbound.

Im wondering now if Hurl Boulder from the same set is bound by the same restriction, and if any of my Primary (stone) are bound by that? If so, looks like I'll need to waste a vet-spec to switch to something useful like Leaping or Teleportation.

Are there any other sets/power choices that basically exempt you from certain travel powers?
example; Stone armour (usually) makes teleportation the only valid choice, heavily penalising you for taking anything else.

Also, if I had a nickel for every time someone mentioned being "slapped in the face" by a Dev action, or otherwise butthurt by a change...

All ur nickels are belong to me.
I was being slightly tongue in cheek there

I would ask that the sfx gets toned down, though. The chime sound after EVERY attack actually gives me a migraine, its at just the wrong pitch, stacks and goes on for too long.

Aside from that, theres not much I can fault them for mechanics wise, other than both PBs and WSs need the animation of the shapeshifting drastically cut to make it more fluid. *shrug*

    Heh, so true dat.
I did have to laugh at the first bit though X3
  4. The only change that needs making is to PBs. Who are hugely inferior to the eternal destructive majesty of the Warshades. Bow, mortals! No? Well I'll use your recently desecrated corpse as a ex-human BOMB! Bwahahaha!

    Yeah, dont mind me

    Dual Archtypes

*sits back and watches the ensuing fireworks*
Short answer is 'Not going to happen'. But I'm heavily betting on people using long, long answers here...
  6. I really think respecs should cost less than what they do in real money. $10/£6 pound? I know you dont need them often, but...Meh.

The lvl 50 tank im trying to gut at the moment (EM no longer plays like it used to when I rolled him, and, frankly, the whole character plays wrong) is in this quandry. *shrug* I'll deal with it.
  7. Personally I still think it's a really bad thing. I mean, if someones that obsessive about min-max efficiency (and thats even being harsh to the min-max crew) that they carry around a tray full of stuff like acc, damage and recharge SOs or whatever just to slot into, say, RotP, well...more power to 'em, I say...

If it's because people might miss rez prompt, they do that anyway. Some daft idjit will wander afk while I waste Rez on him, while I could have rezzed the guy next to him, who could then have done something useful.

    (Sorry. Pet bugbear on my fender is people using;
    a) Any sort of rez before I have time to hit them with Vengeance
    b) A wakie when rez is charged
    c) Being afk when I use rez, effectively wasting it and meaning it might be down when we actually need it in future. )

    Let me stop you there.

GR is paid for content, content not everyone will buy, or be able to buy. Ergo, saying 'just switch sides' is, in of itself, a rather unrealistic comment. I wouldn't even want to hazard saying 'the majority will buy GR' because I have no idea.
Also, by that same arguement, not everyone will want to change sides. People who are heavily concerned with merits may well change sides without minding. But that in turn then dumps a penalty on those who, for whatever reason, don't want to change sides. Also, as far as we know, the 'Side Change' content, the missions or w/e we will need to do to change sides, is anything but fast (according to Dev comments). It's not something you flip back and forth between easily.

Now, Im not agreeing with the OP arguement. It's still not a good idea. But just saying 'Buy GR and switch sides' is NOT a good arguement for never doing more Villain exclusive SFs, and never ever will be.
  9. Money. For what? Advertising.
If CoX had the money to advertise to a wider audience, (hell, ANY audience; most people I talk to have either never heard of it or thought it went under years ago!) would add a lot more clobber.
  10. So far, we have;

Ceasar the Troll; A kid who grew up in Eastgate with parents so high on 'dyne that he was born green and a 'troll'. He didn't, however, lose his intellect. If anything, he's a smart Supa Troll in a non-grotesque body. Now runs his own crew in the Rogue Isles, cracking skulls and making big dollars.

Kayla Drake; Daughter of a Nemesis officer who was restricted to base and brought up in what equates to an army base. She ran away recently, but still has the uniform, training and, more importantly, rifle. She's quiet, timid and incerdibly paranoid about being dragged back. She is, however, very good at paperwork. Woo.

Umbral Nightwalker; A Nictus scientist back from near the start of the Kheldian War, now on earth. 'He' seems to have lost all memory of his time before and just after arriving on Earth, and now seems to have joined the Warshades. For now...

Colonel Lyndon; Vanguard Colonel who was transfered from the SAS for the first Rikti War. Pretty much it, really, was the concept I used to finally have a Sword/SHield scrapper I liked.

Jen Kerringer; PPD Inspector, body 60% replaced with cybernetics after an incident with an incerdibly powerful Hellion Damned by the name of 'Le Jean'. Head of the recently formed Special Response Unit (SRU). Dual pistol wielder.

    No to Taunt

Lvl 50 Bots/Traps MM here. Never needed taunt. I'm not saying anyone who's taken it is 'wrong'. But I know theres no over-riding need for it, and you're certainly not 'doing it wrong' if you dont take it either.

The third Recluse-look-alike was locked into the Chief's visor.
"We've got our mark, or one of them," the titanic robot stated, uploading his scan to the others. "However, it's possible there is more than one bomb. Do we have an all over plan, or are we going to have to do this, as you say, 'by ear'?"
  14. Sorry, but I'm with Quint on this one (gods help me... )
It wouldn't work, mechanic wise. And it wouldn't work concept wise.

You can already make a thief character using the Stalker powers as is. It's just added flavour. Having a whole set based around it would...not work, really.
  15. All the UK headlines are scary, because I can believe them.
Sheesh...we've got a lousy system. Can we have yours? =S
  16. A lot of emotes don't work in Dwarf form, sadly. Like, I dunno, /e sit ? Amongst others. I'd swear they used to...
    Bring back our emotes! D=

    PB vs WS

People have explained the technical sides of it much better than I could, and linked to the guides.
    So, I'll add in the one thing no ones mentioend yet;
    Sound effects.

It sounds petty. But I cannot physically play Peacebringers. Why? Because the sound effect on EVERY attack gives me a headache during even a short fight. Seriously. It's persistant, longer than it should be and it stacks up.
Warshades, on the other hand, have a low muted drone sound fx on their attacks, which you barely notice.

Just one last thing to toss into the mixer.

That said, there have been many changes over the years (such as being able to shift to Dwarf while mezzed, and neutering Voids, on top of just plain game changes - especially IOs and their effect on slotting) that have had quite an impact on Khelds.

When you finish the PB, roll a WS. Learn the zomgwow that is double-mire. >.>
Not so much zomgwow as 'Souls! Kill! Crush! Maul! *chitter krrrk*'
*ahem* Yeah, I really enjoy my Triform Shade now

Although IMO 'neutered' is a bit of a strong word for Voids. More like 'made less of a complete 'lolfail' button for the enemy. Untyped damage is fine...when facing an 'end game' boss like Hamidon. Against things that can spawn in any mission at all? Not cool.

You don't use bayonetes to fight in melee, except as a last resort. You use them to poke bodies on the battlefield and make sure they're dead.
Only because *all* guns made at the time were pretty shite. There were some gunblades, and even gunaxes, in the Doge's Palace armoury in Venice when I visited there. If they did that with modern firearm tech, you'd have something a lot more feasible and useful.

  21. I'd like to see a slightly more realisitc approach, and move the villains off the big, open streets and stuff, sometimes within spitting distance of Longbow and PPD.
Instead, move them to the alleys between buildings, parking lots, slightly more run down areas, places criminals lurk.

  23. If you can post your build, Col, that might give a better idea of what to look at and suggest.
Don't bother with the attacks. In fact, I respeced Alpha a while back and got rid of the personal attack, and actually found it MORE fun than when I had the attack.

If you dont have hasten, get it. And, really, treat your bots like an extension of yourself. They ARE attack powers.
I think the best advice I can give is; if you are sitting back and shooting, you are doing it wrong. Bots/Traps is all about not being as much in your opponents face as literally stampeding over him in a close and personal wave of trip mines, angry robots and seeker drones

"I am," the Chief replied, visor flickering slightly as he began to scan the building, head turning slowly. "All Kaarinians have a built in understanding of technology. Let us see what we can see..." he trailed off, gaze slowly and thoroughly sweeping the hall for any offending technology.
