I prefer spending the merits on things to get my characters to T3, so I'd relish the opportunity to buy the auras, costume change emotes and emotes.
-
If Inf amounts are stored as a signed 32 bit value, then the maximum limit would be 2,147,483,647 Inf.
-
Spent an hour on queue last night in the evening on Union. Nothing. 4 minutes average wait, yeah, right.
-
Rushmore's Memorial day overcoat (Victorian Jacket with no waistcoat) was black on logging in the other day, had to go and sort that out. Hochstapler's corset is attempting with some success to burrow under the skin of her breasts and back. I've not checked Isaiah Creed's jacket yet.
Could we get some costume tokens for the issues here and the fact that we've needed to fix them with inf/tokens of our own? -
Getting the same issue here, as is a friend of mine.
-
I could do with 10 costume slots per character, some don't need that many, some however do. I'd love to see new tailor buildings rather than them standing on a corner like in Praetoria, or the Merit vendors. I'd also like it if character costume slot purchases with Paragon Points were global, rather than individual. Considering this is a game with a great opportunity for making alts, I think it'd be a little unfair to charge each character for their costume slots.
-
I'm reluctant to even transfer my characters off Union for storage purposes. Union is where I started playing right after EU Beta, and it'll be where I finish playing.
-
Returning players who haven't resubscribed to get a VIP account will have a Premium account, and for the princely sum of $5, someone could purchase 400 Paragon points and get all the benefits of Premium-ness, plus some points to spend on stuff.
Considering the abuse of trial accounts by RMT companies before the trial restrictions were put in place, it was wise of them to put these limitations in place. -
As much as I'd be interested in changing my Grav/Kin Controller to a Grav/Time Manipulation Controller, I don't think they'll implement it, which means either deleting a level 45 character (and I level glacially, thanks to the utter joy that is the 30's to 45's content wise) or trying to find the space to reroll the character amongst my now extremely limited slots on my server of choice (All 36 have characters in, and I would love dearly for a limit of 48 per server)

Quote:One of the problems Hero side is that different contacts give out the same story arcs, but if say, Player 1 had Story Arc A from NPC *, and Player 2 has Story Arc A from NPC #, they don't get mission completion credit for each others.PuG Story Arc Teaming: In the end, only the contact holder gets the Merits... unless we go back in time? Oh wait... Tips give Fame and Morality to all in group who are eligible... this makes sense.
They really need to sort this out, by making each Hero story arc only come from 1 contact.
They could really do with redesigning the Paragon contacts to tighten them up to 7 year later MMO standards. -
I have a question!
Has there been any decision on the price in British Pounds? $5 is currently equal to £3.13. -
Quote:Put it this way:I worry that the restrictions on Premium players are too strict, but considering that their alternative is to Not Play At All... it seems acceptable. The restrictions on Free players also seems a bit tight, but I understand the reasoning behind it.
In CoH:Freedom, as an F2P player, you'll be able to make 2 characters from a pick of 8 different AT's, with a lot of power sets available.
In another super hero-y free to play game, you're limited to single concept archetypes. Person with sword, rather than person with sword who can blaze with righteous glory, or crackle with divine lightning, or person with no sword but fists and feet of fury and a determined glint in their eye, or person with sharp spines and evil aura. And can then customize the look of those powers too, to more fit your concept.
From just one AT.
That's a bit more freedom for free, IMO. -
Thanks for the info! I'm now considering putting some money by each month, then purchasing points in bulk for the extra points when CoH:F launches.

We've been told for a while now that SexyJay has been really busy, but not seen that many costumes to show for it. I'm of the mind set that they've had him working away on content for inclusion in the store, in addition to the pieces seen on new enemy groups. Depending on how much they have stored (in addition to putting the currently available pieces into the store from all the booster packs and such) it remains to be seen if what they have can cover up to their new pieces made.
They've also mentioned that the problem with booster packs is that they might come up with a neat idea, but have no pack to put it in, and have people expecting packs to come with emotes, auras, costume change emotes, a power and the pieces. With this new system it sounds like they'll be able to release themed stuff without the other stuff, and release individual bits (such as for people who want the super tailor access to change body types from the science pack)
I'll personally have to see what kind of costs there are, and may just decide to chuck an extra few pounds at the game every month. Or use some overtime payment to get a chunk of points (which also reward... Reward Tokens from the Paragon Reward system IIRC.) -

Galaxy City is being destroyed for the new tutorial zone, with people then moving on to Atlas or Mercy depending on their alignment.
Goodbye, Galaxy Girl Statue + RP Meet. -
Quote:Oh, I meant in general, really. At the moment it's perfectly possible and has been done to stream the game client from your home PC to a tablet, but as a friend who did such said, the controls are the big problem, so yes, you'd need an external keyboard and mouse. Of course it can be argued that games designed for tablet play would suit the control scheme better, but the problem rests on communications in a MMO sense, and...Sorry, I should have made it clear. I should have differentiated between your internal home network and the actual Internet itself. Of course, for efficiency, the game client must still within your subnet, not on the Internet itself.
Sorry for being sloppy. Otherwise, I think much of what I said is still valid.
Well, really, not everyone wants to play tablet games, like not everyone wants to play Popcap Games offerings at the moment. I can't imagine myself playing a Fallout game on a tablet, or Deus Ex, or so forth. Some games just suit the gaming PC as we have now better.
I can see that there are uses for tablets, but I think the general public needs to take a long look at them before making any snap decisions based on tech 'moguls' and financially interested parties preaching on the future. -
Quote:Internet service providers would care because a greatly increased demand on bandwidth across their network from streaming video and data for a client terminal, OnLive-style system would result in network congestion and lead to packet shaping, bandwidth restrictions and so forth. But it this 4G superduper wireless Internet world, pretty much any big screen and decent table top can support this game and a reasonable keyboard and mouse. Who cares where the CPU and storage is?
Unless you pay a premium for your traffic to be prioritized, which would go against the concept of net neutrality.
Also, every party you add to a process, is something else that can go wrong. Currently to play CoH, I need:
1: Power
2: Internet
3: NCSoft
With client terminal gaming you'd then need to have the streaming game service as 3, and shift NCSoft to 4.
And then you'd likely have to pay for the ability not to have your packets shaped or bandwidth cut to use the services with your ISP. That's one extra part of the chain and two extra payments.
Regarding tablets in general, to take a look at Apple's offering, what if your favourite game/game distribution system isn't supported on it? Or if they shelve support for it. In a tightly controlled market place, it's easy to strangle, and then you're left to hang. You may also be looking at a reduced lifespan due to heat/components, or the death of planned obsolescence.
I suppose the only advantage is that when it does die, you don't have to worry about your personal data when you ship it off to be repaired.
It'll all be on the cloud. :P
Edit: Also you're looking at double serving of latency as well. Connection from Tablet to Game Streaming Service, and then Game Streaming Service to MMO Game Servers. -
I see the cloud as Jobs tells it as a fad, truth be told. Do people want their documents, all their documents, online? If you store your video online, you've then got to waste bandwidth to watch it. What of the security? What if the cloud provider thinks the content you have you shouldn't have and deletes it? What if your ISP goes down, or they suffer issues in their data centre where they're holding your data at that particular time?
You want cloud computing? Have your own home server, storing your data. Access it around your house via a properly secured wireless network (or wired network) or dial into it from outside and procure your documents from wherever in the world you may be. Do you really want to trust third parties to all that data, more than we already do?
As for a move to tablets, there's too many issues. From hardware to just human ability. Voice controls aren't great for those with heavy accents or dialects without long amounts of training. Battery life still has issues. Performance and heat issues. Ergonomics and interface problems. 2-3 years? Try more 20-30, maybe, at a push.
There will always be a market though for the home computer. And I think we'll be seeing keyboards and mice around for a long time, at least until we can jack in and just think at a computer to work it. -

In a move that will surprise no one, the BBC have re-commissioned Doctor Who for another, 14 episode series. Matt Smith returns as the Doctor and Steven Moffat continues as showrunner.
(Cue whining from people on the series' official facebook page of course. Also, I find it hard that anyone can call Moffat/Smith a childish Doctor Who team when RTD/Tennant gave us the Scooby Doo style corridor chase scene in series 2, but what do I know compared to some screeching fanshee on Facebook?)

...
My word.
What an excellent episode, though I'd love to know more about some of the people seen in it.
And the next episode title for when the series resumes? How very... interesting. -
Quote:Imagine you're watching a film, or hell, even really getting into a part your acting in a play. It's a tense or emotional scene in a nightclub. Maybe you've caught your sidekick accepting bungs from villains, or you're pleading with a friend to stay on the right path and not fall into darkness. You're into the scene, they're into the scene.Plus it was fun. I do not see what the issue might have been, except that perhaps some role players do not have as much imagination as they would like you to think they do.
SUDDENLY, HUGE MECHANICAL SPIDER/SPACE SHIP/LORD RECLUSE APPEARS!
For me, I'd ignore the hell out of that. Why? Because it breaks the dignity of the scene. It yanks you out of the moment into 'Hey guys this is a computer game ZANY STUFF!' and sometimes it can be hard to recover a scene from that.
Quote:Roll Play is not the same as writing a novel, or a short story. I feel that I must be willing to accept input from other players around me, and adapt to what else might be going on.
If you're looking at role playing (Role playing, not roll. That's a different kettle of fish entirely, more of an accusatory statement about someone who plays a game more as a roll dice/hit things/get loot exercise, with minimal to none in character interacton) as a collaborative storytelling exercise, then just because someone says "LET'S HAVE IT RAIN CATS!" does not mean it has to rain cats.
Because that would be stupid.
And cruel to the cats.
Instead, I believe that in a close-knit scene between several characters (As in, the players have worked with the other players in Roleplaying before and the characters have history) a gestalt editor forms from precedence and known playstyles of the characters involved.
The Gestalt Editor acts to say 'Sure, having A step out of the way so Character F can get to the bar works', 'We can get player Q involved in this', and so on.
It also acts to say 'No, we're going to ignore the pink wolf setting a boombox down and shaking its tush', and 'you really, really want to acknowledge Lord Recluse or some simulacrum of giving out high fives -right- when it looks like this friendship is going to make or break?'
There are some situations where the Gestalt Editor may say 'Sure, hell, give the Recluse-a-like a bro-fist!' but to accuse someone of lacking imagination because they don't want the emotional quality of their activity to be diminished by someone in power who isn't even roleplaying?
Gestalt Editor says 'No', and I concur.
Regarding Rikti INvasions, as a final point? At the game zone location spot in Galaxy City that I roleplay at, invasions are always met in character. They're fought off, banter is had, then we check if people have been injured, and return to what was going on. Is it hard to ignore bombs and Rikti beaming in?
Yes. That's why we don't.
Is it hard to ignore Disco Dancing Statesmen? No. That's why we ignore Disco Dancing Statesman. Also, Rikti are known to invade. Statesman is not often known to dance in night clubs.
