I used to want more space for the bio myself. But then I realized that such would increase the temptation of turning what should just be a quick and concise overview of the character (with little hints of personal background they may reveal) into an extensive life story. It reminded me of my old days on various RP oriented MU*s. I would do a look at a character, and instead of just a quick description of what they looked like, I would get pages of info that no one would ever really know unless they asked.
Now, I find I enjoy the challenge of whipping up something useful and informative in a very limited space. I imagine heroes and villains all having their own little PDA type thingie to access their city's databases to look up information on others. With some of my characters, there will be some history explaining why he or she is doing what they do or how they got their powers. Others may just have decided to put a song or poem quote in their database entry. While yet others may have decided to withhold any info for the time being...

Yes. Some people still use Fly:
In many of the above cases, they also have SS, but only for its stealth component to stack with the Stealth IO in one of the prestige sprints, and then only if they need to save that 4th pool for something other than Concealment.
It would also look rather retarded for these characters to be zipping about everywhere with Ninja or Beast Run, and since they have these lovely wings, they don't need the Rocket Board or Raptor Pack after level 6 (or 4 or whenever the travel power opens up now).
I'm guessing that those who never ever ever take Fly also then never ever ever use any of the wings in the costume creator? -

Quote:I remember back in the early to mid 80s, when Drow were introduced as a possible player character race, I made a Drow ranger (may have been a half Drow), played him for a bit, then forgot about him. Fast forwarding to early 1989, my best friend took over that character and made him into a Spellsinger (a class we worked together to hammer out). He was one of the coolest characters ever, dual wielding swords (may have been scimitars), and his musical instrument was a semi intelligent staff that could transform into a guitar and possibly other things (don't remember all the details). The staff was named Twinkle. A few years later, we both read the Icewind Dale trilogy for the first time. And after that, agreed that Helix would have to be retired because no one would believe that he predated Salvatore's work.I had a similar experience to this in a tabletop RPG...
I chose my defects to be "poor eyesight" (bad enough to be blind without glasses), "allergies", "proper grammar" (compelled to correct any error, which is great roleplay with a dwarf in the party), and "lust for knowledge". I also made him a librarian, and most of the spells I took for him were purely utility and support-level. I had "Levitate", "Produce/Smother Flames", and "Protection from Rain", but not a single offensive spell.
Years later, I became a fan of "Stargate: SG1" and realized that I had unknowingly created Daniel Jackson as a mage. The GM and I shared a good chuckle over that.
That incident still burns to this very day. -
Your in box can hold 20 emails at a time. I don't think there is an actual limit on the number you can send during any specific time frame though.

Quote:I believe the 3 slot plan for Stamina is typically the most efficient for many builds, as it is real easy to rack up those 2.5% recovery bonuses to the max of 5 from other sets as "incidental" bonuses along the way to reaching other bonus objectives. Either that, or I am thinking of a couple different recharge bonuses that get capped out easy instead of recovery.I lost the post where someone was kind enough to give me the numbers, but the optimal end/sec slotting for stamina per number of slots:
1: Perf Shifter Proc
2: Perf Shifter Proc Perf Shifter EndMod
3: Perf Shifter Proc, Perf Shifter EndMod, Common EndMod
4: Perf Shifter Proc, Perf Shifter EndMod, Perf Shifter EndMod/Acc, Perf Shifter EndMod/Rech
And yes the rech and acc are wasted, but the endmod is not, and the bonus from the increased endurance is greater than the impact of additional endmod post ED. Plus, as a side bonus, you not only regain end slightly faster, but you have a slightly larger pool as well.
And as for only 2 slots, I just do 2 generic endurance mods. That seems like a better use of Stamina to me. The proc is only if I can manage to put in a third slot, since a third endurance mod provides too little benefit. -
My replacement has mostly been Stealth, which stacks with the Unbounded Leap or Celerity Stealth IO in one of the Prestige Sprints, and serves as a mule for a Luck of the Gambler +Global Recharge. Granted, Super Speed gives stealth as well, but it doesn't take defense sets, and then you not only get Hasten's flaming hands, but you also get flaming feet.
-
Not being able to customize Hasten to get rid of the flaming hands is more than enough reason to justify skipping Hasten on quite a few characters who would look really dumb with their hands on fire. (Those make up for it by being planned out with plenty of sweet recharge bonuses to more than make up for it, and without sacrificing anything critical.)

Quote:Why am I now envisioning PHBs from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Image encouraging their fans to make characters here to hang out in the tutorial, writing down any cool name that shows up, compiling a list of these names, and suddenly releasing a whole slew of one shot comics featuring characters bearing said names, resulting in mass genericings in the game? Muahahahahahahaha...One name, and a frightfully unimaginative one at that, doesn't prove your point.
I see tons of cool names in the tutorial and running at the low levels all the time without the "Xx" or numbers. On Virtue, one of the two most populated servers. Just gotta be more creative than "Blue Centurion"....
Actually sounds like a plot for a fun little AE story arc involving Crey trying to shut down the Freedom Phalanx game so their upcoming Paragon Protectors MMO can become the dominant game. -
Quote:I've found that for forming teams on Virtue, using local broadcast, Virtue LFG Beta, and VirtueUnited, I have had some success by starting off with "Room for 7 on Level (your level) <i>insert mission type like radio, tips, arc</i> team."So, I have been having a teaming problem lately. I can get any toon I want to level 20ish with the sewer trial teams. Making teams for that is easy peasy, and its great xp. . .
But after that I have a hard time finding or creating teams on the virtue server. Now this may be primarily due to my time difference because I am currently in Germany (Army) and the virtue server is a US server, so I am 6-9 hours ahead of the server time. . .
This at least works blueside. I have less success redside unfortunately.
I have not had much success using the team search function, due to my policy of honoring the "Not Looking" flag, and when I do break that policy, still almost always get turned down even if their search string says they are always looking for team.
And by the way, what are the ideal hours (Pacific time) for getting teams on Union? I have 2 characters there that I have been leveling up, but they are on the verge of being shelved because soloing is soooooooooooo boring nowadays. (I have plenty of single player games that don't cost me anything to play if I want to solo.) -

I've been noticing more and more KB on a lot of my characters that only have 4 points protection. I suspect the old adage about 4 points being enough for most of the KB in the game is really old data that went out the window recently (possibly with the introduction of Going Rogue?)

Quote:In Praetoria, there is a misison where you have to disarm a huge mass of explosives. The "method" used there (just flavor text really) also is different depending on your origin. At level 25 your title options expand based on origin.
Mender Ramiel's arc has a slightly different description for the artifact you find based on your origin, too. -
Quote:And in Praetoria, there's a with on Tiberian Bluff in Imperial City that accepts Halloween salvage as well.- Costumes. You can always redo these at any trainer or Icon (atlas/steel/independence port/founders falls) or facemaker (cap/st martial.) You will have one slot at the beginning, unlocking three others (four as a VEAT) at level 20-30-40. (VEATs have a mission at 10 to do so.) One slot is unlockable by halloween salvage, which you turn into a specific NPC (Anna in Croatoa or Granny in Nerva, north of the natural store,) and five others are available for purchase in the store.
For respecs, there is also the Holiday respec that can be purchased with candy canes from the Candy Keeper when the Ski Chalet at Pocket D is open. -
Quote:All of my lowbies now (hero, villain, and praetorian) get fed Yin-Os. They make those low levels much more bearable.Yin-Os aren't particularly well known anymore (anyone that wasn't playing much immediately after the Faultline revamp probably isn't even aware of them). Yin-Os, unlike DOs/SOs, actually have a functional difference depending on origin, and not just a flavor-description/icon/name as well as what enemies drop which.
Mutant/Natural: Damage
Tech: Endurance Reduction
Magic: Accuracy
Science: Recharge -
Plenty to do in that range. In addition to tips, there's the RWZ arcs, and a lot of fun older story arcs to run, plus the ITF.
-
And don't forget the Hollows. Plenty to do there as well (and a real blast on a team for the Flux arc)

I just got off an impromptu zombie invasion team in Skyway on Virtue. And I must say, it was a real shock seeing how the Nightmares have apparently either been pumping iron or eating their Meaties for breakfast.
When did they get changed to become ginormous like this?
Is this normal for them now, or is it a bug? If it is a bug, then hopefully it never gets fixed. This is just way too cool. -
So far, I've tried KM/Invulnerability (Scrapper) and KM/Electric Armor (Brute), and have been enjoying them both equally.
-
What is the AOE radius of Spring Attack? I keepo seeing mention that it is a small radius, but no one ever says how small. Anyone have the actual numbers for this?
-
I know the servers aren't up yet, but I seem to have found a bug that makes the last 2 servers on the server select screen unselectable (in this case, Exalted and Victory).
I can scroll down with the mouse, but as soon as I let up on the mouse button to select a server, the scroll bar snaps back to the top before I can click on either of the last two. (and moving the mouse over to the desired server while holding down the button does not work either.
Anyone else having this same problem? -
That seems highly unlikely. First off all, it would be really bad publicity for them to attempt to implement such unreasonable (and possibly even unlawful) terms in their user agreement.
And second, it would be even worse publicity if they attempted to enforce such terms, which I hereby refer to as Butthurt Clauses. After all, once someone is banned for saying anything negative about CoH, they are no longer subject to the user agreement, and would then be even more free to say whatever they want publicly about the game and the company, which would very likely cause many who might have otherwise considered trying it out to decide to avoid it like the plague. -
At least you can easily recover from your error by doing 4 days worth of tips and morality missions.
Those are easy enough to blast or stealth through for the most part. Then you can spend a paltry 2 alignment merits on another Obliteration quad. -
Unfortunately, all the female animal heads are too small for the bodies. A shame the devs won't actually go back and fix this (like many other things that need fixed), instead of leaving things half done so they can push on to new things that will remain half done while they work on the next new thing that will remain half done, etc.
