What works well with Kinetic Melee?
So far, I've tried KM/Invulnerability (Scrapper) and KM/Electric Armor (Brute), and have been enjoying them both equally.
Depends on what AT you want. I personally like it with SD on scrappers so you can get huge damage buffs on you with siphon and AAO. On stalkers, I would suggest Nin simply because nin is awesome. Maybe try the new EA on stalkers so you can stack some stuns. On a tank, I would take ice armor for some extra -dam effects. Don't take it with a brute. It just doesn't work as well as other ATs due to fury eclipsing your siphon's strength.
Any 'Defense' set works well with Kinetic Melee.

Do not ever give Mind Control a pet. We need more control sets without pets.

Playing a KM/WP atm. The PBAoE knockdown is nice for keeping them in your +Regen aura and not attacking you.

I enjoyed KM/Regen on my scrapper enough to get it to 50, Aside from stalkers i don't like melee AT's but that was a fun build honestly.
Anything that's relatively low endurance as a secondary or has methods of endurance return. KM is a hog for endurance and loves, absolutely and unconditionally, recharge.
EA seems to be a prime secondary for KM.
Shield is nice, easy to keep good damage buffs (and debuffs) going and it has a great aggro aura. Pretty much any secondary works well with it, though.
My favorite is Super Reflexes due to the synergy (+Recharge and scaling resists from SR works really well with Power Siphon and the -Damage). But really, you can't go wrong with pairing a secondary with KM. KM is like the color black; it goes with everything.

Also, avoid KM for Brutes or Tankers. The damage buffs love high base damage and both Brutes & Tankers are weak there.
Since Stalker auras don't suppress with Placate, only when Hidden, and you'll want to Placate-CS a lot to get insta-BU, the aura sets (DA, Ice Armor and EA if you take Disrupt) are counterproductive to this unless you toggle the auras on and off.
On the subject of Kinetic Melee, I'm looking to get something clarified. I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that essentially, KM "penalizes" you for taking non-KM attacks. Is that the case in any way?
I've been thinking about a KM/EnA Scrapper, and what I would normally do is take Air Superiority, but is there something to how KM works that would affect AS negatively?

KM has two attacks that will recharge quickly enough that you shouldn't need AS anyway. If you want the power, that's one thing. You just won't need it.
Ive got a KM/EA brute now running at level 22. So far so good.. since the new Mids has ocme out I have worked out his build to level 50 and I think it will be pretty potent..
When I get to 50 im only going with the Spiritual Alpha for added recharge and the Ht Debuff and Recharge/End Recovery powers as well..
Im working him as a Super Speed character concept which I think works very nicely..
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
