That's only five months of missing free time...if you got all of the above on your account. If you bought any of the "buy six get one free" or "buy twelve get two free" deals, there's some more free months.
There's also the possibility of free time through "invite a friend back" if you ever lapsed for 90 days or more, 15 days per invite back.
There's also the possibility of a free month if you "invite a friend" and they buy the game after trialing.
It's actually pretty easy to rack up a bunch of free time. -
I wouldn't wait. I would petition now so that you avoid petitioning in impatience or anger if you wait until it's late. However, be prepared to wait since, as said above, they have a skeleton crew for the holidays.

The gift gives an animation for your teammates and pets, which is where SunGryphon may be mistaking that it's giving the buff to teammates and pets. For each animation, you get a buff, stacking if you are within range of teammates and pets.

The game can't run without registry information, which your second user account does not have, thus it's trying to install the whole game.
Copy the updater to a new location. CohUpdater.exe - for instance, the desktop. Run the updater from the new location. Tell it to install into the current location. Let it do its thing. Delete CohUpdater.exe and the files it creates in this process when you're done. -

The boxes probably are, but if you buy online, you can only buy the version for your region. If you're in Europe, you automatically get the EU version of the game, and can't buy the NA one. You need to contact customer support to get it changed over.

City has so little bandwidth usage during gaming, the difference between the DSL and cable is pretty much nil. I mean, it's possible to play this game on dialup, fer chrissakes. (I played on dialup for almost a full year.)

The patron respec is not a free respec. It is an earned respec, therefore it stacks with all earned respecs. Freespecs are only given by the devs (though the Respec Recipes check against the existance of a freespec in order to craft).

This makes it so that every time you hit PRINTSCREEN (CoH calls it "sysrq"), you get a clean shot. Every time you hit SHIFT+PRINTSCREEN, you get a shot with the UI bits in it.
That way you don't have to remember the slash command or anything silly like that. Sometimes you want a UI screenshot in a flash, but remembering and typing the commands is slow. My way, you hit a couple buttons, et voila! -

Powers only restrict by set category, not by individual set names. Because those powers do not allow Universal Travel Sets, Winter's Gift is excluded, completely separate from being able to slot Winter's Gift only once. That's completely beside the point being made. -
