Quote:Completely OT, but I love your sig. Mostly because it's got some truth to it.Rule number six of a empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

Putting Self-destruct anywhere *near* Dark Regeneration or Foot Stomp on my tanker.
-
Ummm.... no, you couldn't. It's because of the way they coded the slot sales. They were coded to verify against the store in case of billing issues and because you need to be connected to servers to play in the first place.
-
Quote:You don't see how the online store where you bought the extra slot being down would affected the availability of that slot? </sarcasm>It's pretty much all in the title, I logged in around 4pm CST with my open slot on virtue then I log in at 7:11pm (srsly) and the character slot I had purposely opened up last night to roll a toon this evening is now unvailable because the online store is down. I really don't see how the online store being down should effect my open slots in anyway at all, so I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else and will I be able to get my slot back at all?
But seriously, you'll have it back when the online store is back up. -
This actually brings me to a new point. Everyone who complains about enemies that mez being "cheap", is basically saying that mezzes in general are cheap. Would you be willing to allow for that and give all enemy groups mez protection too? Because mezzes are cheap, after all.
-
Except they have to actually get to the enemies to use theirs, so the point is invalid. Melee ATs have mez protection because otherwise they couldn't get into melee.

Quote:No idea why that hasn't been changed, probably legacy reasons. I did, however, have another idea for how to do that. All team members, or one team member designated by the leader, should be able to talk to a TF contact. I don't know how possible this would be with the current codebase, but it may be worth looking into. Also, insert "allow star to be passed on a TF" post here.I don't think the leader should ever be forced to give up the star. To deal with your issues I suggest:
1. Allow people to auto log even when on a Task Force(anyone know the reason why we don't auto log for being AFK on a TF currently?)
Quote:2. I have felt for years that everybody should auto exemp/SK to the max level of any TF. That would solve the problem. -
Quote:*facepalm*Reporting him for this remark. " Are you always this detailed with your sugg... Oh, wait, yes you are." i am getting sick of this kind of stuff. And going to start reporting for this kind of stuff b/c i am sick of it. No more going off. Going to do same thing that happens to me when i return fire. No more return fire. I will start reporting now.
Okay, I know you're new here, and weren't around for the original incident, but the very reason that Suggestions and Ideas is in For Fun now, instead of Development, is a story of two posters. Let's call one of them.... lkamen. And the other..... NWNGirl.
NWNGirl had a habit of posting suggestions and stating how simple they would be based on the fact that she had coded a few things in Neverwinter Nights, because all game code is, apparently the same. lkamen would infuriate her (and many others who posted outlandish suggestions that had a snowball's chance in hell of making it in the game, like permanent quadruple XP) by posting simply "no". Exacerbating the problem, NWNGirl would click the "report" button on any post that disagreed with her suggestions, no matter how politely, tersely or impolitely they were worded. Eventually, it all came to a head with bannings of the worst offenders in these, including those who would over-report, by reporting non-rule-breaking threads simply because they had a different opinion on the suggestion. The Community Reps and Devs decided that the S&I forum needed to be somewhere "less serious" than the development section, and so moved it to For Fun, in the hopes that people would not take themselves as seriously, and not see every Suggestion posted as holy mana provided from on high, but rather give them the feedback they need to become good suggestions. Or even explain why a suggestion just isn't good.
And because I feel like giving your suggestion some advice:
Tested in CoV Beta, were almost completely incapable of generating fury. It *may* be capable of working now with the changes to fury between CoV Launch and now, but I wouldn't hold your breath too much.
Quote:Ill Dominator
Quote:E.M. Scraps
Quote:Maybe bring a few others over and stuff.
Quote:New Pets for MM's such as a Animal
Quote:Lots of new costume options with higher detail on costume. Like forearms and thighs and stuff like that. More weapons to pick also. And who ever did magic pack have that person make the new costumes.
Quote:Maybe bring in a few new powersets.
Quote:A new Co-op zone. And open Hazard zones to Vills. And make them Co-op. Shadow Shard for sure.
Quote:Fix alot of the bugs.
Quote:Some new power pools with new Travel powers. Please new travel powers.
And are any of those ideas not already covered by powers already in the game? Tunneling is how many stone tankers RP their teleports, web slinging is more-or-less a "reverse SJ", etc.
Quote:More Base items. And at least Base Raids. Even if the is no CoP.
Quote:More reason to play a 50. Like alot more to do at 50.
Quote:New IO's. -

Quote:Way to fail at realizing what a suggestions/ideas public forum is for. You voice your suggestion, and have the other posters look at it to see if there are any problems with it. Just because a poster doesn't look at a suggestion and go "OMG THAT'S THE GREATEST SUGGESTION EVAR!!! I WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABIES!!!" does not make their post reportable.Lets see i beleave this is Suggestions and Ideas. Not feedback so unless you got something to add to help the game i think i should report your post. Because you are not being a help.
Not to mention that the lack of actual details makes whether this OP is even actually a suggestion debatable. -
Quote:Oh! You mean the kind of spawn that can mez a scrapper or tanker? Because yes, if you get about 3 or 4 Illusionists/RMs/DRMs, you can easily get more than 10-13 mez mag, which will hold anything but a Granite + Rooted. Especially with them using Illusion/MC mezzes that don't have a positional component.solo, +0x1? Go deal with Carnies for a while. Especially when the end boss in a "defeat all" is a DRM, with an Illusionist in her group.
Quote:Or try some Malta, where nearly every spawn has at least one critter that can throw a mez.
Quote:Rikti have a ton of stuns that can make life miserable, and same problem as with carnies: their bosses, even downgraded to Lt's, often spawn with a second mezzer in the group.
Quote:None of these will require a "full tray of breakfrees" but none can be handled without at least half a dozen. Melee types don't need to use inspirations as a crutch simply to solo, nor to be able to do their job in a team setting. They actually get to use inspirations to increase effectiveness, not to attain basic effectiveness. -
Make that any power that grants slottable damage resistance is unaffected by any outside bonuses.

Often? We're down less often than a certain popular one. Which has routine maintenance one day a week, sure, but it's pretty much that whole day. Anywhere from 8-12 hours on Tuesdays. We only have up to 2 hours, usually just 1, on Mondays and Fridays. With a total of 168 hours a week, CoH is only normally down about 2.38% of the time. That's not "often".
-
You asked people to name one set that only one AT has access to. I named 5. Your statement about there "not being unique sets anymore" was what I responding to.
-
Quote:Ignoring MM Primaries and Blaster secondaries, too, because they're in the same pool as assault sets, there's still:Can you name one powerset that is EXCLUSIVE to any single archtype (with exception of the dominators "Assault" pools, which are thematically identical to one or more sets, just given melee and ranged attacks)
I know i sure can't.
Illusion Control, Poison, Ice Melee, Ice Armor, and Ninjitsu. Five unique sets off the top of my head. -
Quote:You can already do that, it's called mez resistance. We can slot KB protection, don't see why we can't slot mez protection too. (Especially since mezzes can be worse than KB) At make the set bonuses something worth looking at. A 50% reduction in hold time would be a nice thing to slot for.
Also, I have more problems with Nemmies and Malta on my scrappers. Because they can't get in and prevent nasty things from firing off. And Nemmie Vengeance vs. Soft-cap is not a fair fight. -
Quote:Heheh, I accidentally KSed someone trying to do that. I'd been trying to play on mall wireless the playsession before hand and forgot I still had Thunder Kick on auto, and I went over to try to give an insp to a lowbie struggling against a mob.As for buffs, since some people like them and some don't, and the fact that most of my toons don't have them (I play mostly melee types), I just hand out insps, especially greens and purples.
Whoops. -
Quote:Yeah, low-damage Crane Kick is a turnoff.I dropped the available level and damage of crane kick (high -> moderate) due to the typical tier 1 of blaster secondaries. Every blaster secondary starts with a ranged moderate damage immobl, except Energy Manipulation, which starts with a melee minor damage KB.
BUT! You could modify Crippling Axe Kick to be the immob for the set. (Precedence? Mental Manipulation Subdue is a 100% chance to immob, Defender Psi Blast subdue is 80%) -
Quote:Can we please quit using that as a frivolous lawsuit example? The coffee was 20 degrees hotter than standard restaurant serving temperature. It caused 3rd-degree burns, through clothing, within 7 seconds. McDonald's had settled roughly 30-40 such suits before. The lady in question only sued for hospital bills. The large amount she won was from punitive damages defined by the jury that felt that McDonald's refusing to settle for just the hospital bills was indefensible when they had done so mutliple times before.Never mind, I apparently need to read the rest of things I link to.
The point of it was more that people will sue over some STUPID things.
The lady that sued McDonalds because she spilled hot coffee on her lap, we know that one is true. How could you even expect to win a case like that? Yet, she did. It is common knowledge that coffee is served HOT, and she didn't expect to be burned when she spilled it on herself because she put it between her legs instead of a cupholder? Give me a break, she got awarded millions for being dumb, simple as that. McDonalds lost that case because they failed to put a warning on the side of the cup saying it was hot. Any idiot could tell by just holding the cup that the substance inside was hot.
Summary: The McDonald's coffee lawsuit was non-frivolous. Quit saying it was. -
For comparison, here's the launch-day dialogue:
[NPC] Reichsman: Already no one can stand before me. I bring you here to demonstrate my power and to let you know that I am now the one in charge.
[NPC] Reichsman: So I tell you this: Join me or perish.
[NPC] Nemesis: I need not fear you, Reichsman. Your plan seems flawed, while my planning remains unparalleled.
[NPC] Vanessa Devore: You amuse me, Reichsman. You in charge of everything? Ha.
[NPC] Reichsman: Once again, you heroes seek to thwart me. And once again, I shall send you running back to your mothers like little children scared of the dark!
[NPC] Countess Crey: You are mistaken if you think we have common cause, Reichsman. You are wasting your time!.
[NPC] Gyrfalcon: Why would you think the Malta Group would throw its resources in with your bunch of fascists, Herr Reichsman? It is a good thing I'm restrained by this bubble, or I'd show you exactly what we do with your type.
[NPC] Reichsman: What have you done to me? Countess, assist me with these heroes!
[NPC] Countess Crey: Heroes here? Stop them!
[NPC] Reichsman: I cannot fail! You will not stop me! Nemesis, to me!
[NPC] Nemesis: I was prepared for this!
[NPC] Reichsman: Your talents can aid my cause, Vanessa Devore
[NPC] Vanessa Devore: Even here, these heroes interfere. They shall learn the folly of their actions.
[NPC] Reichsman: To me!
[NPC] Reichsman: Vas? What is happening? How did you get so powerful?
[NPC] Gyrfalcon: Hero intervention! You can't control your own base. I'll do what I have to to save my own skin, but don't come near me after this, Reichsman.
[NPC] Reichsman: Gyrfalcon, come aid me!
So, Gyrfalcon's dialogue was fairly untouched (which is good, because his was already written quite well), and the others were updated. I definitely think the new dialogue is better. -
Actually, my Emp/Psi offender chomped a few yellows, and her attacks hit for full damage, instead of the 1 or 2 that other types do during PP MoG. So I can safely state that PP MoG provides defense against them, but not resistance. Now I need to get a Mind Control character high enough to use Dominate on them and see if that's because PPs are getting positional defense for MoG instead of typed defense, and thus technically retaining the psi hole. Alternately, I need to find one to Surveillance with my Bane.
-
I would have to suggest Dark Armor, from personal experience. With a good IO build, all its "problems" (end issues, low energy resistance, KB hole) are simple to fix. Not to mention that with OG or CoF, minions are literally going to be just DR fodder (and maybe soul drain if you go Dark/Dark). I know mine can now just sit in the middle of many mobs and let them beat on her for quite a while, while Death Shroud whittles them down.

Basically, you pull a Superboy-Prime, and punch Destiny so hard in the face it changes.
