Martial Arts as a blaster secondary

I've been annoyed at the lack of natural secondaries for blasters. Yeah, yeah, devices... but I want something that can blap! Who wouldn't want to throw fire at an enemy and then run up and kick them in the face!

1: Crane Kick - Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash), Foe Knockback

2: Storm Kick - Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash)

4: Thunder Kick - Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash), Foe Disorient

10: Focus Chi - Self +DMG, +To-Hit

16: Exploding Shuriken - Ranged (Targeted AoE), Moderate DMG(Lethal)

20: Cobra Strike - Melee, Minor DMG(Smash), Foe Disorient

28: Draw Chi - PBAoE, Foe -Recharge, -SPD

35: Dragon's Tail - PBAoE, Moderate DMG(Smash), Foe Knockdown

38: Eagle's Claw - Melee, Superior DMG(Smash), Foe Disorient

...I forgot what experience means.

I wanna shoot fire at someone and kick them in the face

I think we need Broadsword as a scrapper secondary

Said it before, I'll keep saying it until the devs listen: Warshade Mastermind.

I agree that Martial Arts would make a good blaster secondary, but I think you've got Crane Kick coming in at too low a level. That's the second best attack in Martial Arts.

Some form of katana or dual blades would be highly appropriate for archery blasters, I think.

I think this sort of thing has been suggested before, but I've never seen a redname comment on it.

I'm in favor of this.

Maybe an odd hybrid of Martial Arts and Katana/Dual Blades?

I dropped the available level and damage of crane kick (high -> moderate) due to the typical tier 1 of blaster secondaries. Every blaster secondary starts with a ranged moderate damage immobl, except Energy Manipulation, which starts with a melee minor damage KB.

I love blasters and would love to see a pure power blaster.

Definitely been wanting an MA blaster secondary for sometime now. But in the form presented here, this still looks like too straight of a port of the melee archetypes' version of MA. All other blaster secondaries have a handful of tricks.

I'd prefer a customizable thrown weapon over just a shuriken (including knives, hatchets, hand fans, [strikethru]bat[/strikethru]boomerangs, maybe even something that looks like caltrops and of course shuriken). And not so interested in any of these exploding. Just having a secondary thrown weapon would rock--especially for AR and Archery blasters...

Plus I'd like to see a second attack--preferably shorter ranged cone damage with said customizable weapon. Some sort of secondary effect would be fitting--whether it be -def or -acc or -spd something...

Also I'd ditch at least one more melee attack for a click stealth power with the ninjitsu smoke bomb animation. And draw chi, though I think I get where you are coming from, just doesn't seem to do it for me either in name or function.

But again, as I said at the top, I've been on this bandwagon for a couple years now. So in full support of the general suggestion.

Sometime between the first two waves of power proliferation, I recall Castle commenting on it. Not even bothering to test my weak search-fu, but if my memory serves me well enough the gist of his comment was:
  • where is this sudden call for MA as a blaster secondary coming from?
  • the idea was interesting but not enough to cut in line in the big list of priorities already laid out for him and his minions
  • he concluded saying it wasn't an absolute and forever "no" but not anytime in the foreseeable future at that time

Yeah, low-damage Crane Kick is a turnoff.

BUT! You could modify Crippling Axe Kick to be the immob for the set. (Precedence? Mental Manipulation Subdue is a 100% chance to immob, Defender Psi Blast subdue is 80%)

It's a perennial suggestion and one I am always glad to second. Your list of suggested moves is elegant.

My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.

What I would like to see in that list is a mix of melee, defense and ranged(thrown objects) attacks. Make it no all offense, but allow for some defense as well. So MA with some defence attached to it. This might be too strong for a blaster, but I think it's a good mix.

Someone really wants to make a Ryu or dbz themed character I see. lol j/k I'm not really into playing a blaster with melee powers but I can see how some might want this.

Friends don't let friends buy an ncsoft controlled project.
