Filthy killstealers
...people still do that?
People still do hunts?
The one and only thing, bar the horrible hospital location in Mercy, that bugs me about 1 to around 6.
Especially when it's a higher conning mob. Sometimes you just thing 'Hell, let's do this' and proceed to lob yourself into a spawn that will, most likely, be a close one.
Now, some people help. Like actually help. Like defenders/Corrs lobbing buffs and heals onto you, things that wont actually affect the mob itself. Thats helpful.
But what isn't is people jumping in and hitting on your fight, and its worse when you've just got the boss/LT down to a small chunk of health, and then someone dives in and 'helps'. Helps themselves to the exp.
It's not like pre-10 you should need help, given theres no debt. And maybe it's a silly stance to take, but it's one of those little bugbears that differs from person to person.
And you can nearly guarentee, at least blueside, that when you do get stuck with a hunt mission someone will nab kills off you
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

XP is based on damage done - if you did 90% of the damage to the mob, you get 90% of the xp, regardless who did the other 10%.

About the only completely stealable reward is the goody you may get from the victim of a villainous attack after dispatching the last mob in a spawn. Those kudos go to the character that finishes the last opponent.
Doesn't make unwanted KSing, intrusion on a private fight ("The Marquess of Queensbury rules will be observed at all times. I thank yez." - Barry Fitzgerald, "The Quiet Man") any less irritating, to be sure.
My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.
If you mean that Vanguard SG, yeah, they've been dirty KSers from the get.

Not... quite what I meant either, and I think it might be bad form to name names in the forums...
I don't mind an occasional "kill steal" - I'm just happy to see other heroes and villains on the street for a change.
(Sometimes, I wish there could be a Dev thumbs up button for quality posts, because you pretty much nailed it.) -- Ghost Falcon
I got this last night, sorta!
Actually the level 50 Thermal who healed & buffed my struggling level 11 Claws/Elec was fine, his buffs were great. That big n00b of a Mu Guardian pet had with him though. Damn killstealer. I tried to send it a tell and all but it just ignored me

If I hold a group of enemies, and am slowly killing them, then some blaster comes in and fireballs them, he gets the majority of the xp even though I was the reason he got no return fire.
By "Vanguard SG", I'm guessing he's referring to the Vanguard NPCs in the RWZ, not any player SG.
Cause yeah, those guys are a bunch of dirty KSers
Shortspark: 50 Fire/Fire tanker
Jessie Inferno: 50 Fire/SD scrapper
a wizard: 50 Rad/Sonic defender
The Nemesis Plothole: 50 StJ/Reg scrapper
And the killer gets the credit towards a hunt mission.

If I'm going to "help" someone, I usually take a look at how the fight's going. If there's still three mobs left and the hero's got 10% hp left? Yeah, I'll jump in. (Of course, taking that time to check sometimes ends up in the guy dying.)
Re: loot goes to the killing blow.... the one time I helped someone, and ended up getting a rare salvage, I chased him down and traded it to him.
The only time it bugs me is when someone's doing it deliberately - generally they're in the high 40s-50, running around a lowbie zone being a nuisance.
It's rare. And I still give them the benefit of the doubt - the first time - and send them a tell saying "Thanks, but I don't need the help." Sometimes it's a genuine mistake (not seeing you around a corner.) Other times, they spit back some poorly spelled reply and do it again - in which case, /petition, add note, /ignore, wait them out, and go on about your business.
Yup. on all the content that the devs never bothered to update. Once upon a time, they used to make content. But that was a long time ago.
I think some of the problem is people coming from wow and the like. Where the first person to hit the mob "tags" it and gets the xp/loot no matter who kills it.
Lots of 50's yada yada. still finding fun things to do.
Cthulhu loves you, better start running

You are in a maze of twisty little passages

edit: I actually like to hunt some of the time. It can be a pretty good test to see where you are and what you can handle. Try different level mobs, different spawn sizes, bosses, etc w/o messing with mission settings. And sometimes it's just relaxing running around a deserted part of IP beating up Tsoo.

Ok, so I bit with the new alt thing and made a Rad/MM blaster, in Atlas none the less. I was going for the yellow/orange mobs to level faster... when outta no where comes this blast to the mob I was working on. I look and it's a lvl 14 blasting my mobs.
*le sigh*
I tell him to not do that.
Him: y
Me: 1, you don't get any xp from it and 2 you are stopping me from getting any xp.
Him: so? I like Atlas.
Me: go to Steel or somewhere else.
Him: I'm capped on my trial and like atlas.
So, I run away and try blasting another mob while he's typing.
Then again "Blam!!"
WT*
Dude, I already told you to stop.
"y?"
You wanna get reported?
"no"
Then stop.
He stopped after I told him that, thankfully.
"every defender needs to fight. I don't care if you have to use BRAWL!"

You talkin about that new SG that like just appeared? What are they called? Oh yeah 5th Column? Cause they were seriously messing with me Wednesday night!
I'd find a nice bunch of Council and would land a hit then WHAM! They just appear outta no where and kilsteal all my Council!
I want those big ole cannons tho!
Pinnacle-Pale Spectre 50 Kat/Regen/Dark Scrapper
Spectre of the Gun 50 Thugs/Dark/Soul Mastery MM
MA Story Spectre of the Gun's Search" ID #352424
Spectral Darque 50 Dark/Dark Scrapper
You know the type, the kind that just swoops in the moment they see you eying a particular mob and just swarm over it before you can so much as blink, let alone get a hit in before pounding them into oblivion and denying you the XP, influence, drops and most importantly credit for the kill for the endless stream of hunts my contacts seem to have prepared for me. They're showing up wherever I go, whatever zone I'm in or neighborhood and it's starting to tick me off. It's not enough they had to kill Atlas, oh no, now they have to mess with my hunts too.
Jerks.
