  1. The Redeemer?
    The Supplicant?
The Sentinel? (probably taken and generic bait!)

Angel types seem to end in "im" Nephiliem, Seraphim, Cherabim. Perhaps look up some latin words for protector, guardian, and combine them.

Is the "im" signify a plural? One seraph, a choir of seraphim?

Angel proper names seem to end in "ael". Michael, Azrael, Gabriel...

Perhaps a Hebrew or Aramic translation of Protector, or guardian, or warrior.

    Auphanael?

    Aranael?

    Myranael?

Those three are unlikely to be taken, since I just made 'em up!
  2. If CoH/CoV offered a lifetime subscription, I would consider it.
  3. Get a jet pack! Fly at level 5!

    Ask us how!

Or visit www.paragonwiki.com and find out.
  4. This game is very friendly for the casual player.

Jump in, do a mission, or hang around, join a pick-up mission team for a hour, or less, or whatever.

Or, ready to do a caffeine/sugar/hot-pocket fuelled 20hr gaming day marathon? Do it! You'll find someone to join you. Task Forces/Strike Forces and trials can make a lot of a fun day.

Supergroups (guilds, in other words) can range from incredibly casual to incredibly strict, so find one that works for you. Or don't join one. Some heroes and villains aren't the supergroup type. Or start your own! (Minimum level 10 required). Supergroups will take as much time and effort as you are willing to put into them.

If you find yourself stuck, or frustrated, or have a question, I'd first suggest you ask it in the help channel. For example,

    /hc How do I get a cape?

These forums are a friendly source of information, but please do a search or two, because your question may have already been answered!

Also, www.paragonwiki.com is a great source of information. The rumour is, the development staff use it as a reference!
  5. Technical points: You can get a temporary travel power at 5. You can get a permanent travel power, which can include flying, superspeed, superjumping or teleportation at 14.

You can drop an annoying mission for full mission completion rewards every 3 days by calling or visiting the contact that gave it to you.

For formal papers, I suggest writing out numbers, five, instead of 5.

The "not evil enough" feeling is a good point, but the "teen" rating does not allow attacks on unarmed helpless civilians. By real world contrast, actual criminal gangs and individuals often come into conflict with each other over turf/market share, reputation, and perceived insults.

The story counts. Read the mission briefings. The City of Villains game includes a much more interesting selection of contacts. They have more personality, more variety, and more story-arc style missions. I'd suggest you look for Peter Themis and the Radio for some interesting times at your level range.

And trust me, you'll fight Longbow often enough in the future. You'll get your fill of beating on good-guys.

Levelling is so easy, and the in-game stories are good enough that people requested, and GOT the option to toggle off xp gain, so they wouldn't outlevel certain content, or could pick specific moments to level up.

Although a character cannot level past 50, there is still tonnes of stuff to do, including high level raids, task/strike forces, outfitting in IO sets, the endless content of the mission architect.

The game was designed to level to 50. It was not designed to have endless mathematical progression upwards.

Some supergroups are better than others. Some are very warm, friendly, and helpful. Others will treat you like an indentured servant.

The villain ATs were designed to be more generally rounded and self-sufficient than the hero-side, so they tend to solo better, so teams are less mandatory. If you want to team more, you should do more than passively wait to be invited. Set your LFT flag, join a supergroup, join global chat channels, make friends, and of course, start your own team.

The bank mission that the group kept on doing over and over again was probably being "farmed." Some bank missions are considered easy xp, so the group runs them, backs off from completion, resets it, and runs it again. I find this boring, so I don't often do it.

Also, City of Villains, and City of Heroes really is the same game, just different parts of it, comparable to Horde/Alliance in WoW.

The lackey/sidekick system is a great idea. It allows players of very different levels to join up and be effective, and you can do it at level 10, not 11.

The flipside is the malefactor/exemplar system, which allows higher level characters to join in on lower level missions, by temporarily develleling them. Good to emphasize the temporary part, as I've heard some people freak-out that they would lose levels.

Overall, a good read into the CoV world. I enjoy the perspectives of new players.

    What class was it for?
  6. Don't care if my SG is #1 in Prestige ranking, because we got most of the goodies, and enough prestige to pay the rent for the next 350 years.

    Info Question

Corrupters have good ranged damage in their primary set, often with AOEs and team support/buff/heal in the secondary power set.

Brutes and Stalkers both do good damage, although it is melee, and tends to be more single-target.

Masterminds can do good AOE damage, argueabley, because their pets can be directed to attack specific targets, or just blast away at any nearby enemy.

I don't know dominators that well.

    Try 'em all!

Seriously, don't agonize too much about making a character. You don't have to pick a "main" and level them to the cap.

Pick an archetype that seems interesting, pick powersets that seem interesting, make a cool costume, then onward to Evil!

Perhaps another idea will spark in your twisted mind, and you'll make another. It's totally ok. I've got DOZENS of characters spread around the servers, and less than 5% are over level 40.

    Info Question

You can have fly and teleport.

And superspeed and superjump if you want.

At level 5-10, you can scoop a jetpack, which gives 2hrs of flight, by doing a Safeguard mission (heroes) or a Mayhem mission (villains). Paragonwiki will give more details.

At levels 10-15, by doing either a Safeguard or Mayhem mission, you can get 2hrs of superjumping.
  9. $15 a month? Yes, it does cost money. However, in terms of $/ entertainment hour, I find it quite worth it.

Continously updated, additional content added, and a staff that does great stuff.

Things that have monthly subscription fees:
    Magazine subscriptions
    Cable TV
    Cell Phones/Blackberries/iPhones, etc
    Internet Access

If the service/access is worth it to you, pay it. If not, stop.

With CoH/CoV, your stuff is never erased. You can come back YEARS later, and your heroes and villains will be as you left them (although you may have to rename the low level ones)

Buying in larger time blocks, 3 months, six months, 1 year nets a larger discount.

    Funny Stuff

You need Television, and now Television needs you! Help save Television!

Television brings families together, bathing them in the warm glow of the shared experience of laughter, tears and entertainment. Television has given you so much over the years.

Now, evil forces are moving in, seeking to subvert Television for their own nefarious ends! They must be stopped! Television must remain pure and uncorrupted by external forces!

This message brought to you by Ascendent-Os! Now with Xenonite! Send in your 10 boxtops to get your exclusive collectible limited-edition limited-run Dino-Riding Ascendent with Laser Sword!
  11. Don't know if there is an EB (Electronic Boutique) near you, but I got mine there. They may order one in for you.

    Check Amazon as well.

    Can't decide...

Your tank will be self-sufficient. Your defender will be harder to solo.
  13. The five altars are scattered all over the place, often guarded by groups of demons.

I've only done this one 2-3 times, and we usually take out Infernal, then fight the big dude later.

The demons, if they have a resistance to fire, will not be immune to fire damage, they will just take less. This will have no effect on the mez component of any dominator attack.
  14. Had that kinda experience today, invited to a team that couldn't handle 4x Lord Recluse in a bank.

Don't let it put you off. There is some good work, humour, and serious mission-save-or-destroy-the-world stuff in the Mission Architect.

EDIT: That farm was also reported.
  15. Well, you floated your idea. This forum is for questions from players, to be answered by players.

If you think this is worth development time, bring to the Suggestions and Ideas forums, because this forum isn't a high-priority read for NC folk.
  16. Are you aware that those using MA exploits to reap ridiculous rewards/time can be suspended, or have those rewards reversed?

The developers have significant datamining in place, so if they see a particular mission being used over and over again, for quick rewards, it will draw their wrathful gaze.

For crazy fights and decent (but not exploitative) rewards, I'd suggest an Imperious Task Force. They are pretty popular, tend to move quickly, and provide a variety of challenges.
  17. I'll add another method. Join, form, or coalition with an active supergroup.

Badge, Task Force, LFT or Forums channels can be very productive. Join them if you can.

AE missions can be boring repetitive farm-fests, but they also can be entertaining, challenging, and well-written. There is good content in the MA.

Forming your own teams is the best guarantee-er of running the content you want. Be polite, pay attention to search comments, and give a lot of information in your opening tell.

EDIT: Be polite, pay attention to search comments and flag settings, and give a lot of information in your opening tell. You could use macros, but I see it as an opportunity to practice speed typing
  18. Influence transfer between characters is not the intended purpose of the market. Therefore, if you attempt to transfer influence between characters, and a market sniper scoops the transfer and pockets himself some major cash, or it otherwise doesn't work out how you wanted, too bad.
  19. I've seen that. Lose some dead-weight, spawn sizes decrease, less bosses, can make smooth sailing.

Any attempt to get the PB/tank to calm down and keep it to one group at a time?

EDIT: I don't always agree with you, P_T, but like Don Cherry or Yatzee, you are entertaining. Please continue to relate your stories of ineptitude.

(I just hope I'm never the subject.)
  20. I haven't heard anything about new archetypes for Going Rogue. I doubt it, as that would be significant development time added.

I guess you'll have to learn to share.
  21. At this time, you cannot use Ouroboros to flashback to the Safeguard/Mayhem missions.

The only way I can think of is to accompany someone in that level range on theirs.

    IO bonuses

You should get bonuses from both.

You can use the attribute monitor to make sure.
  23. All active accounts have access to the Mission Architect.

    Architect edition not required.
  24. As TonyV says, the pre-download for new issues takes out a lot of frustration of a new issue.

    Have you not experienced this?

Intermediate patches come in pretty quickly. I find the "Applying" process to take longer, in most cases.
  25. You should visit www.notalwaysright.com

Sometimes, yes, you must annoy, and reject, and "fire" certain customers for the long term health of the business.

They know that CO respresents a challenge to their business.

The staff know that pulling back badges, or smacking Meow-farmers would make some people mad.

Was it the right decision? Did it go far enough? Too far? Customer relations is a tricky business.

Every job is easy. Until it becomes yours.
