Not on your own. Unless you have a second account and 'dual-box.'
You can solicit the help of another player to help you, but, there is risk they'll keep the influence. If I were to take such a risk, I'd use someone from a global channel who is well known by the other members of the channel and make the transfer publicly known in the that channel so that peer pressure keeps them honest.
Or, another risky proposition is to use the market.

yeah try to get someone you know to help you transfer your influence like an sg mate or a coalie or someone from ur global channels that you have worked with and have some level of trust. Worst comes to worse ask a level 50 toon to help you. There are some nice people out there but be careful.
You can do it using the market, as mentioned. There are a number of ways to screw it up, though.

That said, OP, if you use the "Protected Method" properly (at the bottom of Zombie's
linked page), it works quite reliably, and safely (imho). I've done it several times.
The drawback is making sure you do it properly, and, of course, the 10% market fee.

I did the market transfer the other night .. just be sure you use something rare enough that it has few sellers, and bad enough to have few bidders.
I used a spare Lvl 35 Call of the Sandman: Chance for Self heal to tranfer funds from one server to another the other night. I keep it around just for transfers, since the one character that uses them is all filled up on them ;-)

I tend to use a mid-30's DO of some sort, not necessarily the same one every time.
It is important to make sure that nobody's underbidding your other character before you make the big buy.
Smurphy (aka Jojo the Bunny) used to be a reliable transfer mechanism- I shifted a hundred million inf around at one point, using his services- but I think he got bored with it.

Smurphy (global name @smurphy, same forum name) does money transfers and is very trustworthy. As far as I know he's still doing it, I used his services a month or so ago. He even does cross-server and side-switching transfers (although he charges a fee for those).

We wanted to make people aware that using the Consignment Markets as a means to transfer influence or infamy between characters is not an intended use. If you attempt to do such a transfer and someone else buys your item, or the item is sold to someone else, please know that this is an issue our Customer Support Team will not assist you with. Our apologies, but the Consignment Markets are designed to enable the games economy, not to make transfers between characters. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Does this mean we're not allowed to use the Market to transfer to ourselves, or just that if we lose Inf doing it, tough luck?

Influence transfer between characters is not the intended purpose of the market. Therefore, if you attempt to transfer influence between characters, and a market sniper scoops the transfer and pockets himself some major cash, or it otherwise doesn't work out how you wanted, too bad.

The latter. Someone named Gnomercy had a post once explaining how he made something like 450 million just looking for histories like "100/100/45,000,300/100/100" and buying those TO's and posting them for 1 inf.
It was a jerk move, but well within his rights. If you buy something on the market you do not get to control who sells it to you.

It is exactly that issue that the "Protected Method" solves, when done properly.
As for your prior point about simply making the inf, you can, and I can, and most market
folks can, but a lot of people can't, or won't (a mindset our guides try to change), and
even for those who can, it still takes time.
A quick little cash transfer is often quicker and easier and/or provides the initial startup
funds to get the self sufficiency ball rolling from there.

I can transfer wealth quickly by putting a hot little item in the SG storage base, let the poor one pick it up and sell it for cash or use it if needed.
The SG base is the short and easy method.

I've never had problems transferring infamy. On the toon that needs money i simply pick a low level unwanted enhancement with no bids and sell it for millions of infamy.
No way is someone stupid enough to buy it for that much, if they do, hey great I made money.
Being sidekicked to a 50 for even one mission can be a faster way to make money. The random enhancements are worth your while to vendor, and I picked up enough nice ones to clean up at the market without a lot of complexity.
My pet peeve is people who refuse to acknowledge it when I tell them my character has unlimited power. If I rp attack them they are of course disintegrated beyond the ability of any hospital or magic to restore. Yet despite this they refuse to delete their characters and still keep playing them as if nothing happened. ~Mandu, 07-16-2010

But you get hit with the posting fee. And if someone was selling the same thing for 1 inf, you'd buy theirs instead...

So when you get to the toon that will be buying the enhancement for an unimaginable amount, you look to see how many are for sale, if more than 1, place low bids until it shows only one, try another low bid, if still no sale, try for amount you want to transfer.
All it takes is awareness of what is going on.
And if you're new to the market, and you're trying to move your life savings... bad time to have an obvious-after-the-fact learning experience.
