Yeah I noticed that a few times. Another amusing case was one who fell off the WW side of the plaza and got stuck on a car.

I tested it a year or so ago and con confirm Master-Blade's statement. The tooltip is bugged but it definitely corresponds to the Rikti Plasma Turret badge and you only need 5 defeats.

I seem to recall the tool tip for Scorpion's Surprise also being bugged but I can't remember for sure.

    EDIT:
I think the important question is with side switching can Villain SGs now get the Rikti Plasma Turret badge? If someone knows I'd like to update the wiki.

Realistically though that wouldn't make much difference. A full set of level 50 SOs costs less than 6 million, the crafting cost of a set of level 50 IOs is less than 50 million. That's less than half the price of a respec recipe and it would take 10 respecs to fully strip a character. I don't think people are using their respecs specifically for that enough for it to make a difference.

I also think that it's possible it might cause a drop in prices on the market because people may be less willing to spend hundreds of millions on items that they can't recycle. So sellers could be forced to lower their prices.
Look at it this way, the change would probably cause three changes to the supply/demand curve of high end items:

People less inclined to buy due to permanence: demand decreases
People cannot strip an old character to outfit a new one: demand increases
People cannot strip a character to sell the enhancements: supply decreases

The first item would cause a price drop but the other two would cause the price to rise. It's impossible to say which would have the stronger effect but my guess is that the impact of the latter two would be greater than the impact of the first.

I don't think most players who purchase purples do so with the intent of recycling. Purples represent a significant investment so most players who purchase them likely do so for a specific character they intend to keep at the time they are doing the enhancing (whether they do actually keep them long term is less certain)..

Anyone who knows for certain cannot tell you (since they would be violating an NDA). However in another thread Acanaville (who is normally knowledgeable about these things) said that based on her understanding of how the level shift would have to work mechanically it probably will not boost pets.

I really, really, really hope that is not the case. The purple patch already hurts MMs when it comes to the new content and this will only make it worse.

    EDIT:
Here are Acanaville's posts on the subject, obviously these are coming from a player and not a dev so it's not guaranteed but it's probably as good as we'll get for now.

As far as I know TFs don't have increased drops or anything, it's just that you tend to end up fighting more Bosses/EBs/AVs which have quite a bit higher drop rates (the ITF in particular has a LOT of Bosses and EBs). Since shards are rolled for individually rather than being rolled for once and randomly distributed team play does tend to offer better shards/time simply because the kills/time is higher.

    <runs and hides>
I wouldn't mind to much if the devs did this but from a market point of view I don't think the effect would be what you want. In general when people pull enhancements off during a respec they are pulling off the most valuable. Removing that ability would actually cause the price of the most valuable IOs (i.e. purples and the nicer rares) to rise slightly due to decreased supply. Removing the inf buyback would slightly decrease the supply coming in but I think it makes up such a small portion of total inf generated that it wouldn't mke much difference.

Now if you want to suggest a fee to allow people to pull out IOs outside of a respec that would help somewhat since it would increase the supply of goods and decrease the supply of inf.

Well, this would also apply to emails (clicking claim for inf) or trades too - call it a transaction fee or whatever. I don't think this will fly unfortunately, just insane ramblings.
That would be pretty much impossible to implement, people would figure out a work around (such as doing multiple small trades) or simply resort to barter so the net effect would be to reduce the amount of inf sunk through market fees.

  9. Actually as near as I can tell present inspirations work that way for everyone, it buffs you based on the number of allies it hits. I used one a while back on a Numina TF and it stacksed the damage buff 8 times on me but my teammates got nothing.

It would be nice if the inspirations buffed everyone once instead though.

Just because we're ebil marketeers it doesn't mean we're blind to the impact long-term inflation has on the in-game economy.

Actually it's a problem with a lot of combat NPCs. Based on the new version of Maria's arc the entire Freedom Phalanx except for Manticore have a large does of lemming in their DNA. I think the problem is the devs gave them high perception (to stop them from getting lost) but then set their AI to aggressive so they attack whatever they can see. Statesman and Lady Liberty are by far the worst but Positron is pretty bad as well.

I know. My point was that only the Very Rare and PvPIOs regularly go for more than 100million. Very few rare IOs go for that much and only a handful go for enough over 100million to make storing on them safe. I can't think of any uncommons that go for more than 100million.

EDIT: In any case I utterly fail to see what point you are trying to make here.

No you don't, you can place a stack of 10 bids in one slot hence why I suggested it. I know people who already store inf in this manner on the theory that the odds of the devs removing the level 51+ items form the market are slightly higher than the odds of the +3% def PvPIO dropping to less than 100million.

Depends on style. Softcapping yourself is more useful if you use Provoke + attacks to pull aggro onto yourself. Softcapping pets is better if you let them take the aggro.

    6) how much -regen is considered flooring an AV?
I think it should be 666% since the minimum is -100% and AVs have 85% resistance to -regen but I could be wrong.

7)is DAM RES resited by AVS as they do many debuffs?
They don't resist damage resistance specifically. However all enemies that have damage resistance do resist damage resistance debuffs and most AVs have at least some damage resistance.

In general TA is better for Controllers than the other ATs that have it. The main weakness of TA as a buff/debuff set is that it has minimal alpha mitigation, it's mitigation is more about lowering sustained DPS than countering an alpha strike. Pairing it with a control set solves that problem since the controls can be sued to mitigate the alpha strike and TA can focus on what it does best: increasing damage.

Yes it does. I did some testing a while back and found that damage is reduced for lower tier pets in two ways:
    1. The purple patch reduces damage since the lower tier pets are lower level
    2. The lower tier pets have a lower base damage for detonator (I can't remember how much lower, sorry)

    Quote:
Ive nopticed that the DMG most of the time is roughly equivalent to two trip mines going off at the exact same time, seems like pretty awesome quick DMG correct?
My testing at level 38 gave a base damage (using the tier 3 pet) of 160.66 which is slightly less than one Trip Mine.

    Quote:
If i do get this power how should i slot it?
Recharge only unless you want some set bonuses. Accuracy and Damage enhancements in it do not work and instead it uses the accuracy and damage enhancements slotted in the pet.

The main problem with this is that it effectively lowers the market price cap from 2 billion to 1 billion. That would result in a larger number of recipes being sold off market. Not a huge number true but it would increase.

    Quote:
granted, this would cause an initial flood of buying everything that can be bought to burn the billions of liquid capital, but then it would equalize out - no more inf bank characters at lvl 1 (or 10) holding 2 billion inf each and no more 2 billion inf bids on a lvl 53 intangibility IO recipe that doesn't even exist.
It wouldn't prevent people from using the market for storage, it would simply change the method. Level 53 IOs are popular because they don't exist but a perfectly viable alternative is to simply place lowball bids on high value recipes. For example a stack of 10 100 million bids on a Gladiator's Armor +3% IO is a safe way to store 1 billion since the bids will not fill baring a major change in supply (which would be visible far enough in advance that you can move the inf). There are so many ways to stash inf in this game that trying to reduce player storage is pointless.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. In this case je's point was correct. The market does not create either items or inf and as such there is a finite profit that could be withdrawn. As long as only a portion of the total population attempts to withdraw it then it is possible to make a profit from the market. If everyone did it then it would become impossible.

    Although as Groucybeast said:

Not quite, they CAN be used to buy SOs but the main use of them is to get IO recipes. Additionally characters of the Hero and Villain Alignments can trade them for Alignment merits which also allow you to buy IO recipes but have a better exchange rate (needless complication FTW)

    Quote:
Tips - are these just random missions like radio missions?
Yes and no. They are actually fixed missions (although they are randomly selected from a list of 10 or so based on your level). However they do have a purpose. You can only do 5 a day but if you do this for two days (i.e. a total of 10) and make the same alignment choice for each one you will get a morality mission. Doing the morality mission will either reaffirm your current alignment (awarding you merits or alignment merits) or allow you to change alignment to the one you selected int he tip missions.

    The alignments are:
    Hero -> Vigilante -> Villain -> Rogue -> Hero

Maintaining an alignment for seven days grants you a special alignment power. Vigilantes and Rogues are able to visit both Paragon City and the rogue isles however depending on their base alignment they will only be able to do radio/newspaper missions in the other city. Heros and Villains get alignment merits (either by reaffirming thier morality or trading regular merits) which allow them to buy more IOs.

    Quote:
dayjob - what is the purpose of these missions?
Well technically dayjobs are badges. If you log out in a location you get a temporary, very minor, bonus when you log back in. If you do so for 21 days in the same location (non-consecutively) you get a badge and a slightly better temp power.

It's not impossible, it's just that only a few characters can realistically do it (and they rarely bother to). Defenders with Traps or Force Field and the Fighting Pool can quite realistically softcap all 10 defenses if they want to. Since their powers give them all 10 defenses they have a solid base to build off of and since set bonuses give both positions and types it's easy enough to pick up the rest (although psionic normally requires a few purple sets).

The thread stated that rather than reduce the targets ability to mez us, the players, it instead made it easier for the players to mezz them. Someone please confirm which way it works, because if it works like I hope, then getting through PTOD will be considerably easier....well, possible in some cases.
It decreases the duration of mez powers used by the target, effectively it's an inverse Power Boost.

The effect that you are thinking about would be -res(mez) which would increase the duration of mez powers used on the target which Benumb does not have (according to RedTomax).
