It's different. Very different. The base stuff is there, but the scales are horrible on the female head. The head itself is TINY compared to the body of females, and much smaller than the male version.

We were trying to help you out, and give you some advice to minimize how much you see those comments you're getting. We certainly weren't trying to minimize your experiences.

And most of us do care and pay attention. So I would not be so quick to generalize.

You realize that would make the animations for this set multiplicative, right? If you ever added a new set to the AT, you'd have to do (set work) x (number of current sets) more work.

Basically, it's why we don't have weapons work with power pools and secondary powers right now. It's a lot more additional work for the animators.
  5. Well, I'll try to answer what I can:

Because the WP/ Taunt aura is so weak, Taunt is very useful. However, if somebody is vastly outdamaging you, especially in an AoE, you can lose aggro. Taunt should counteract that, because the duration on it is so long, but remember that it only hits five enemies at a time, so any Mob that hasn't been hit by Taunt yet can peel away from your aggro aura. Putting a Recharge in Taunt can definitely help with that.

Hand Clap is pretty horrible for a Tanker. Yes, it has a Taunt component to it, but the Disorient + KB effects pretty much cancel that out. The enemies are KBed, and then wander around drunk when they get back up, meaning that they are running out the Taunt, and they aren't in your Taunt aura to keep getting taunt effects reapplied. Unless used well, this can cause a mass scattering of the mobs, and if your team has put down some AoE damage on the spawn, once the enemies are done being stunned, they can turn on anyone, unless you've gotten their aggro back.

I think a lot of the problems you'll see with WP's Taunt aura are indeed from people not allowing you to establish aggro before charging in. Very few people in-game actually understand how Taunt works (and that's not really a bad thing). In fact, I'd say that not all that many people on the forums, unless they peruse the Brute, Scrapper, and maybe Tanker forums, really know how it works, and how it is determined.

Most people don't understand that allowing you to have a second or two to get the spawn on top of you is a good thing, because it allows your Taunt aura to tic a few times, and hopefully hit the whole spawn. You can only hold aggro on what you've applied Taunt, or a taunt-like effect, to, and some people just aren't patient enough for that to happen.

I have never seen the broad spectrum of attitudes that you have brought here anywhere on the three servers that I play on. That really is the only explanation that I can think of that might help you out, especially since you say that everyone is AE farming (because on the servers I'm on, next to nobody is farming in AE anymore).

I really don't know what else to tell you.

It's known as the RIAA. Paragon Studios would have their collective rear-ends sued off within minutes of a such a patch going live.
Well, that, and the potential bandwidth issues that this might create. And the fact that this would probably taker up a decent amount of space server-side.

Running a program out-of-game, like WinAmp or something, does this just as well, without the hassles.

    The Accolades

Okay, first of all, you're coming from a flawed premise: that people without the Accolades (even the Atlas Medallion) are people who purchase Influence from gold farmers. I think that that is very far from the truth.

I have a character that is almost level 42 now, that does not have the Atlas Medallion. He has all of the badges for it, though, except for the history one. That is because I haven't really felt the need to get it yet. Maybe that's because I already have good Endurance management tools on the character, an Elec/DB Tanker, and don't really feel that 5 more endurance would be that useful. Maybe it's because I've gotten that history badge so many times before, I'm just not in any rush to go to Perez to get a few more plaques.

IOs, even cheap IOs, have allowed people to build their characters with more endurance reduction in them, which lessens the need for 5 more endurance again.

There's also a lot more to do in the game now. Before, there was nothing else really to do at level 50, other than try to grind for some of the Accolade requirements. Now, with Ouroborus, AE, and several other tools in the game, there's less of a desire to just grind things out, I feel. So there's another reason why people might not go for the accolades.

So, I wouldn't blame it, even at all, on the Gold Farmers. They're not the reason why people don't go for accolades.

Now, would I like to see some of the accolades improved? Sure, why not. But let's at least figure out what the root causes are for people to not go for them, so that we can create a solution that works with that in mind.

    Targeted AoE KBs

But those all do KB in the same direction, AWAY from the caster. If implemented in your way, they'd do variable KB, depending on which mob you attacked. It would be even more of a hassle to use appropriately, because if you wanted to blow a spawn away from you, you'd need to constantly change targets to the one in front. Right now, you can target any of them, and they'll be KBed in the same direction.

Personally, I like it the way it is now.

But what makes sets different besides the set bonuses? I've seen some people's builds that have say, 4 damage but 2 of those cover acc and the other 2 cover end reduction... is the damage "portion" not affected by the same diminishing returns that nonset IOs are?

I'm not even sure if I'm asking this right but it makes sense in my head lol
As Dumpleberry mentioned, DR affects every enhancement in the game. That is because it affects not the enhancement, but the percentage of return.

As such, multi-aspect set IOs, which give a smaller enhancement value than a single-aspect IO, can be slotted so that you have more of them in a power, without taking a hit from ED.

As an example, let's take a ranged damage attack. Using SO slotting, you might go for 1 Acc, 3 Damage, 1 EndRed, and 1 RecRed. In this case, the only aspect that is taking a hit from ED is damage. 3 even-level SOs should give you 100% enhancement (33.3% each). However, thanks to ED, you're only going to get about 96% or so, because the 3rd SO puts you over the ED soft cap, where it starts to lose a lot of its functionality. As such, we've got 33.3% Acc, RecRed, and EndRed, and 96% Damage

Now, let's Frankenslot this power. I'm going to assume that we use IOs of a level that give 20% for a dual-aspect IO. As such, an Acc/Dam IO would give 20% Accuracy, and 20% Damage.

We can take the same power, and slot it as such:

    2 Acc/Dam
    2 Dam/EndRed
    1 Dam/RecRed
    1 RecRed/EndRed

In this case, we'll get about 40% Acc, 40% RecRed, 40% EndRed, and about 96% damage. We've taken 5 * 20% Damage enhancements, and still get about 96% Damage after ED kicks in. But, we've gained 7% Acc, EndRed, and RecRed. That might not be a lot, but it's something. And the higher-level the IO we use, the better those will be, but will leave Damage about where it is.

That would be incorrect. If a blueside-only player were to respond to this thread (particularly in a negative manner), their opinion would be construed as nothing more than an act of sabotage towards improving an aspect of the game that does not effect them in any way. Therefore, their opinion on a redside-only matter is irrelevant. Please see "Disclaimer" from the original post.
Except that, as a game as a whole, a blueside-only player might have had a valid opinion on this, either for or against. The fact is, that if a blueside player had come here, and voiced his support for your idea, you probably would not have questioned which side he/she played on, but you did with a disagreement.

The fact that you would put motive into their post which may not have been there (and going so far to attribute an attitude of sabotage to them), shows a very heavy bias against blueside players that doesn't need to be there.
  13. I play on both sides, thank you very much. But just so you know, you do not get to determine who responds to your threads. This is an open forum, and even a blueside-only player can, and should, have an opinion on this.
  14. While I understand that the time period to destroy the Flyer is too short, I don't agree that the fix to this is to allow you to control the spawning of it.

Currently, Villains already have a bit of an advantage over heroes int hat they can affect the spawn rate of most of their zone GMs. I am unaware of any hero-side zone GM that heroes can directly impact their spawn rates.

As such, having one GM redside that is on a timer isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I would suggest, however, that the landing times for the Flyer be lengthened instead, so that it becomes easier to destroy before the time is up, rather than being able to control its spawn rate.
  15. Egads, yes!

Being able to see what your character will actually look like with a 'finished' build would be very, very nice. Even if you couldn't see it with attacks, it would be nice to see everything on at once. No idea how possible that would be, though.

    But definitely /signed!
  16. A few suggestions for you, then:

    1) A Shield/Ice Tank. Good Controls, good AoE damage. Not exactly great ST damage, but that's what your team is for. Good at holding aggro, and you've got Shield Rush to start the fights! Side bonus: Since you don't have a damaging aggro-aura, you get to be able to use the sleep effect from Frozen Aura. At least, until your team joins in.

    2) An Shield/Elec Tanker, for the reasons you mentioned.

    3) An Elec/Stone Tanker, just because it's fun. Full of Smashy goodness and decent control, although you may want to pick up Tough to help deal with S/L damage.

    4) An Invuln/SS Tanker, just because it's iconic and fun. Very sturdy, especially when surrounded. The Knockdown from the secondary is just great fun to watch, too. Rage will help with damage, and in turn, aggro-holding.

Just some ideas I'm throwing out there. You really can't go wrong when it comes to Tankers.

First off, welcome to the game and to the forums!

Secondly, you need to actually purchase the game. The game time card does not count. You need to actually buy yourself a game serial number, either from the online site or by buying a box in the stores/online. I recommend the box, since it will come with a free month of play, plus some bonus goodies, and should work out to about $5 net, once the free month is factored in. Less, if you can find a cheap box somewhere.

But the game card will not let you upgrade to a full version of the game. Only purchasing a full version of the game can do that.

    Sorry!

    In game help

Probably not, although I'm betting that it would be covered by the "Help" channel. Any other problems should probably go into the Tech Issues and Bugs forum out-of-game, anyways, would be my guess.

Although, a dedicated channel in-game isn't that bad of an idea, my guess is that it won't be all that popular, and the people who need it probably won't be able to find it.

For balancing issues, it seems you can allow a large give in accuracy to be somewhat equivalent to a smaller give in damage. The amount of -Acc or -Dam would be up to the devs, but I'm sure they won't reverse the debuff with the exact same percentage amount.
I agree, but if we take that same spread from IOs to other areas (we'll use even a 5% Acc bonus, compared to a 2% Damage one), then -20% Dam would be -50% Acc. That would compound further the disparity between SO and IO builds.

    Just on principal.
Balancing on IO slotting is bad. Ignoring potential IO slotting while making balance changes is also bad.

Edit -> What I'm trying to say is this: A 20% -Acc penalty, instead of the -20% Damage penalty would be a decent nerf to SO builds. However, it would be a huge bonus to IO'd-out builds, because they've probably already got a large amount of Acc bonuses. This would mean an even larger disparity from SO builds to IO builds, which isn't a good thing to do, IMO.
  21. Well, my first question, for anyone that's going to choose Ice Melee, is what do you want it for?

Ice Melee is the control secondary for tankers. It's not high on single target damage, but does have decent AoE potential, at least at high levels. However, bosses may give you some trouble, since you'll have little damage to take them down.

Still, I would wager that it would be a fun combo, and I suggest that you try it out!

Since you're new, let me just give you a little personal anecdote. It took me 20 characters before I found the one that I really liked the best (my namesake), so don't be afraid to try a lot of different combos out, and see what you like!
  22. While the original reason for the change from -Acc to -Dam was suggested by the players, I would suggest that now it would be hard to balance the -Acc back in.

This is mainly due to IOs, and the prevalence of +Acc bonuses, and the ability to slot more heavily for Acc without giving up on Damage. A -20% Acc penalty could be easily overcome, whereas the same Damage penalty is a bit harder to work around.

    Dark/Mace Build

While I'm no expert at this particular combo, a few things did jump out at me:

    1) Did you mean to not take a travel power?

    2) Dark Armor is known for being an Endurance hog. My bet is that you're going to want to fully slot out Stamina, and most likely Physical Perfection as well.

    3) Dark Regen is a HUGE Endurance user. You're going to want to mitigate that up front. If you want to go with the slotting that you have in there, I'd recommend at least another slot for just plain EndRed.

    4) You probably don't need both Oppressive Gloom and Cloak of Fear. On a Dark/MAce, I would just go with OG, to stack the stuns.

    5) Conserve Power really doesn't need any slotting for EndRed, that I've found.

    6) Combat jumping really doesn't need all of those slots. I would strip those and put them into Whirling Mace, but that is just my opinion.

    7) No Death Shroud? May I ask why?
  24. Hyper, I think we're good here. Maybe let this thread die, finally?

Public domain is one thing. Lawsuit settlements are another. I'm willing to be that using just Thor as the name would get you generic'd, depending on the GM that got the report.
