Dragon stuffs!

I have a female character who I really wanted to make a dragon, however there was no good dragon head! Last night however, I saw a male character with a VERY good dragon head in the hero...whatever, the place where newbies get their first quests in Atlas Park. He had Dragon Wings, a lizard tail(might be the one available in belts or a different unlockable one) and a dragon head that I didn't see in EITHER male or female when I was making my characters.

So my question is, could anyone PLEASE tell me where and how I get this costume piece? I already looked up on the wiki for unlockable costume pieces and I didn't see it listed.

It's under monstrous heads, I believe.

Oh my god, you're right. The male head is COMPLETELY different from the female one and looks a lot more dragonish...I guess I was wrong when I thought it would be similar...Dang I wish they would put in something to make me look like a dragon instead of a weird lizard thing with spikes on the back of my head!

Have you tried playing with the scales? There's a good chance you can make the female version look a lot more like the male version with some incessant tweaking.

I don't actually know, I've never seen the female dragon/lizard head to know how different it is.

It's different. Very different. The base stuff is there, but the scales are horrible on the female head. The head itself is TINY compared to the body of females, and much smaller than the male version.

Indeed - the brow ridge isn't as heavy, nor is the jaw line - both of which make it not terribly dragonish to me. Maybe more like a Velociraptor with spikes down the back of her head.

If you max out all the head scale sliders, they come out a bit more dragonish, but I had to delete my female dragon because I couldn't stand to look at her.

All the Female Monstrous Heads are off scale and too tiny for the female body frame. I can't make a reasonable looking female werewolf either.

Edit: Oh, yeah - Welcome to the forums! Come back again with your next question or just to chat any time!

Totally agreed. While the male and female versions look like a totally different species / why they dont let you chose the head of the opposite sex or an only SLIGHTLY modded version of it there where no gender is determinable anyway is beyond me.

(But then again they didnt add any beast parts depite constant pleads during the last... 4 years or so?)

Well, I heard the head of the dev team, who at one time went to manage Tabula Rasa when General British left, is an arrogant *ahem* who basically wants to make the game his way instead of doing what the players want, so I'm not surprised about that part. XD

The Dev you're talking about went over to Champions Online. And you can see how well that game is doing.

Oh really? Wow. I played it and yeah, it's good. But then again, they have a licence to uphold.

Well, it's more accurate to say the Dev in question stayed with Cryptic to work on the Marvel MMO, and when that was canceled Cryptic purchased the rights Hero Games' Champions and redid the Marvel game with the Champions characters and storylines. i'd hesitate to say Cryptic used the Hero System/Champions mechanics despite the AT/Class-less system since in most of the details it bears little resemblance to the actual Hero System and reminds me more of the original Marvel Superheros pen and paper RPG in that you acquire complete powers and later add advantages to them. The Hero System is considerably more free-form and granular in power design.

Many though his faults may be, I sincerely doubt that Jack had anything to do with why the female lizard/dragon head looks so crappy.

I get a bit tired of seeing everything blamed on him....

They don't have any license to uphold at all. They bought the Champions IP outright.

When I made a dragon, I used the reptile face and just used the mohawk as a giant frill. It wasn't a snout-look but it did look very lizardy.

It happens because he was lead designer and held a I-don't-care-what-the-player-base-wants-it's-my-way-or-the-highway attitude.
Granted, without him this game never would have happened. Still, I've been much happier since Matt Miller took over.

On topic, I have tried to make a draconic toon, but never been satisfied will the monstrous head options(http://www.homestarrunner.com/trogday08.html)
It's something I wish would be revisited, and more options allowed.

I've found female dragons pretty easy to do. Here is my standard look:

The key to getting her to look proper is in the tweaking of the facial scales:

The biggest problem, of course, is the really limited options for clothes, and the fact that it is pretty much impossible to get the color of the wings to match the skin color.

That idea works great when still in development, and early testing (which should be a about fixing bugs, not tuning). But once people that have a feel for the game and its intent, not listening to the people playing the game is simply stupid.

People that are good at developing MMORPG and those are that are good at running and improving them are very different skill sets. So my hats off to Jack for have the stubbornness to get CoH out, and Matt for polishing the game to a shine. Both are needed.

Back to subject of dragons, I really want my lizard/dragon character to wear a santa hat, but sadly you cannot get monsterous heads with hats. IMHO a big hole, then the problem with belts and tails using same slot, and tails are just not upto the standard of the rest of the model being stiff, it really conflicts with the wings awesome animation.

BTW, my older daughter who is in college for graphics design and usually not impressed by animations, Saw the demon wings animated on my char, and commented "Wow" that is nice, not enough to play though, she is a Single player RPG die-hard.

Since I brought it up and someone already posted a picture, I thought I'd show my take on a dragon character. This is a costume for a character I no longer have. I had to recreate it from memory. It would also normally have dragon wings, but those aren't available at character creation.
