Keep in mind that this is currently an NCSoft product. Given if any negotiations are successful in giving CoH to another company, the NCSoft player services would need to end either way.

Also bear in mind that the department handling this may be entirely seperate from those involved in the negotiations.

Until we hear definitively that the negotiations have ceased and / or fell through, there is still hope something can be worked out.

I think NCSoft will offer to redeem some Paragon Points in exchange to other of their games suscription or something like that...

It rather sucks that after years of consecutive payments, I take a month off and then they close the game so I cannot have access to characters I spent years playing because I can’t get ViP for the sunset. Kinda ruins the final CoH experience for people like me.

Not that NCSoft gives a flying damn about it. They have the money already.

I am VERY disappointed, no, DISGUSTED, that unless you bought points a week before the announcement you get no refund.
My husband and I bought ALOT of points to go up in tier. I had no interest in wasting my money on purples, I was saving those points for costume sets and powers but because I bought those so early I get nothing? I still spent the money in hopes the game would still be here. I still gave NCSoft my money. But because of an arbitrarily chosen date I get nothing? I am done. So done. Thanks for the memories but if I want to throw my money away I'll just take it straight to the trash from now on.
And NCSoft can say what they want and do what they want. I can see why they closed the game and THAT does not make me mad. The mistreatment of customers is what makes me mad.

Wow... so 6 years of loyalty to the game, over $3000 spent, and I get...

NOTHING


Not even a refund on the points I bought just a few months ago.

Wow. Just wow. It's like they are going out of their way to further piss people off. Unreal.

I mean, what does it cost to give everyone VIP access? Zero. Nothing. Nada. And even that's too much for them. Incredible. Talk about slathering salt in the wound.

They've gotten their last red cent out of me. NCSoft can burn for all I care. I will scream it from the rooftops, on facebok, on gaming blogs, in my blogs, in comment threads and anywhere a game they've evne looked at come up to stay as far away from them as possible if this is how they treat their customers. Greedy, money-grubbing, customer-hating practices like this should run them into the ditch.

If all of us slagged them off for a few years at every opportunity they'd seriously feel it. Get your money and time back from them by helping someone else save it.

I completely agree that we seem to be getting a raw deal here, but Zwill hasn't made that final announcement on player services just yet. Let's find out what it actually is first before we start sharpening our pitchforks. Maybe they will unlock everything for us afterall.

I'm definitely done doing business with this company though. Too many closures has made NCsoft a bad investment.

I have to agree with Captain Fabulous on this one. I purchased every box set upgrade that came out, along with the newer "virtual" ones. I ran 2 accounts for years on end, had a 3rd for some time and even shared another account with a friend for a time, which would equal 4 accounts. Been playing since early summer '04 and recently had not been in game due to real life issues.

Now, I wasn't a VIP. In August of last year, we severely downsized our lives so we could follow our dreams. We cut out excess, which included game subscriptions, buying new games, Xbox Gold, NetFlix, buying new books, magazines, etc. etc.

But I was happy that I would have access to the game, even if it was limited. My main was no longer listed as an incarnate 50+, but whatever.

Though when I found out about the closure, I immediately tried to purchase a VIP account and points, so I could have full access to everything one last time. (And the costumes....oh the costumes, how I love them so.) But the store was closed already...on August 31st mind you, the day of the announcement.

I spent so much time and money. I helped organize so many in-game events for my server, my SG, and even for the Devs. If you were on Freedom for the 1st anniversary "salute to the Devs" that CuppaJo attended as well as Positron - except he was late and no one knew he had shown up except a few of us - hi! I organized that. Invited the entire server and all the Devs because we loved the job the Devs did and wanted to honor them and there was no official party.

And hell, I want to organize one final Dev salute, because it feels right.

But my point? No, not to toot my own horn. To show whoever is reading that I cared. I invested much more than money. I made some great friends. My SG - like yours, whoever you are that is reading - was family. Is family.

I feel especially bad for those VIPers who let their sub lapse just before September 1st. But I think we ALL should have access in these last few moments of this universe of ours. Because no matter who owns the rights to it, it is OURS - the Devs @ Paragon and mostly, the players. No one would have made any money off CoH if it wasn't for this community.

Would it really cost anything to give everyone access to all the game content and all the costumes and things we can't buy anymore? I understand why setting off multiple events in game could cause servers to crash. But what could allowing us access really do?

Business is business, sure. But surely NCSoft sees how hard this community is trying to save what they love. Have a heart. Let us ALL experience this world in full before you yank it away from us.
