The where will you be going from here thead.
I had started a Guild Wars 2 guild on Tarnished Coast (the North American "unofficial RP server"), but now I'm regretting buying the damn thing. I know the ArenaNet team is blameless here, but it still put money in NCSoft's hands. I'm uncertain if the bad feelings this shutdown have left me with will let me play another NCSoft game... we'll see.

Neither CO or DCUO are any good, so moving to another Superhero MMO is out of the question.
Honeslty, I don't know.
I played Rift a while ago and enjoyed it until I couldn't resist City of Heroes' siren call.
...Heh.
Ironic that.
I guess if nothing else, I might go back to Rift.
Of the other options, the rest are either too high-performance or require too high a commitment.
Or are just not up to my expectations.

I re-up my 3 EVE subs for three months so if I decide to go back when this closes I'll have that much more of a jump on training. Played it a for a few hours, said hi to friends there, but it is just not COH.
Bummer.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
Sorry, when COH goes away, I think I'm done with MMOs.
I came here for the superheroes. I'm not going to Champions on-line. I love the game, but the MMO is too hokey. DC? I don't expect it to last, and it has no attraction for me.
Anything else NCSoft owns?
...
How about 'no,' or 'never.'
They've handled too badly for me to trust them, or anyone like them.
This.

Playin a simple Space Miner, blastin off, mining rocks, coming back, selling them, rinse and repeat while I internet surfed during travel times.
Strangely relaxing. I don't know if I'd pay 15 a month for it though, but it was worth my time when I was playing it.
Might go back to it though. Best Scifi MMO out there currently.
But I think I'll wait for a Mass Effect MMO.
*sits on hands*
Its going to be awhile.
I'll be heading over to DCUO to get my superhero fix.
Then I'll probably end up going back to WoW or SWTOR.
Just saying NCSoft, this is a big farking slap in the face, I hope you're ashamed. To all the Devs who made a point to get to know us and listen to us, thank you so much, you made this game great. To all the Customer services reps I've told to Fark off, I'm sorry. And finally, to Niviene, I'm sorry I bad mouthed you to Lighthouse constantly.
Thanks to Protector, Guardian and Virtue for containing the craziness that is Silas Gray.
It is a dark day indeed in Paragon City...
You pay to play. Having fun is ok. Kill Skuls or kill Crey. Hunt at night or in the day. Black or white or shades of grey. Play it your way. We have no say.
Silas' official theme song: Word Up!
Fantasy Football will keep me warm in the months to come. After all, there are many things that a man can do with his time...and fantasy football is better than those things.
After that, I'll see you on TOR Silas.
I played a free-trial of Eve once. Pretty fun. Kinda spreadsheety, but once you get in the mindset/character I really enjoyed it.

I'm losing my only real anchor MMO, the one I always said "Well, at least I can go back to that!" for. !@#$.
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
I hate to say this I really do...but I'll be going to champions online, I looked over at their forums, they seem to have a pretty good community and roleplay. There was even somone over that said he felt sorry that cox was leaving. I never thought I'd say this but, after CoX leaves...It's the best I can go for....
The time I played with was talking about Secret Worlds. So I might give that a whirl when this game goes offline.

Honestly, what other MMO can I completely customize my character, create 20 different channels to talk on, teleport between zones in a matter of minutes, MAKE MY OWN MISSIONS (seriously, how am I supposed to RP specific selfwritten stories, if I cant create a mission with specific enemies and text? ) and a ton of other stuff that no other MMO has?
just going to take some screenshots of the game and just hang up my MMO adventures until a new superhero mmo comes out, i wouldnt dare go to dcuo or champions, yuck!
Ugh, same.

This sucks hardcore.

In case anyone cares... Imma be ridin' my motorcycle more I think.
There has been, and probably never will be again, a game for me like City of Heroes.
I am just... so sad. I can't even sleep.
/Helluva way to start a weekend.
August 31, 2012. A Day that will Live in Infamy. Or Information. Possibly Influence. Well, Inf, anyway. Thank you, Paragon Studios, for what you did, and the enjoyment and camaraderie you brought.
This is houtex, aka Mike, signing off the forums. G'night all. - 10/26/2012
Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012
im sad too. i play dcuo and co and star trek but none hold appeal this game had for me swtor is meh WOW never...
so have no idea waiting for the next big mmo i guess.
anyway ill miss you all
as Ood Sigma said....We will sing to you, Doctor. The universe will sing you to your sleep. This song is ending. But the story never ends.
It still hasn't fully sit in for me. The problem lies in my momentary breaks. I usually quit between July-October and start back up in the winter.
To be honest, my plan was to go to Secret World by now, either love it or get bored with and eventually head back home to COH even if to take a break but lack of computer upgrades have kept me from even trying my beta access, let alone the full game. The only other games I have ever played have either died or the communitys weren't worth staying for. I refuse to touch Runescape again and the only fantasy MMO I even remotely enjoyed, even briefly was DDO.
I don't have any RL friends who game outside Xbox or possibly WOW so at this point, I think I will simply sigh bitterly and hope like hell there will be another MMO in the future where I can find as many adult players as I did here. I don't mind the kids so much as I just enjoy having fellow adults to talk to now and then. I may try Champions Online but, as before, I really didn't care for it much. However, if you ever see Straenge anywhere, 9 times out of 10, it's probably me. Something of a trademark at this point.
My only real regret is not getting to know people better here in some ways. I always tended be a loner which is kind of a moot point in an MMO but at least I was able to know a few great people here.
I'll continue my stint in swtor till i'm tired of that. At the moment nothing on the horizon has my attention

Anyone who is silly enough to give NCSoft anymore cash is just setting themselves up to be blatantly disregarded again.
Fool me once shame on you,
Fool me twice shame on me!
Woohzaling along since CB.
Let's see....
WAR was killed off so thoroughly it's not funny. My RP community there is long gone.
EVE holds no interest for me.
DCUO isn't going to last. Also, it's so limited it's not even funny.
I may muck about with CO but I can't see it keeping me there.
NCSoft titles are a sore spot for everyone at the moment. I wonder if they even realise how hard this is going to hit their numbers for things like GW2?
40k MMO was panned and they've decided to make it yet another Space Marine. Meh.
I would say that there's a very strong place on the market for a Pirate MMO at the moment. Largely because I've been watching far too much One Piece.
And Virtue?
This is our music.
Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!
I'm going to CO. It's not City of Heroes. So it's not perfect, but it's better than playing a ******* fantasy game. So until a Mass Effect MMO comes along, or the playerbase does what the community of Earth & Beyond did(reverse engineer the entire game with new code or whatever) and restarts City, I'll be on there.
It's not City. But I'm not hating it, this time around. Might have to do with the vast improvements they've made since the last time I played, might have to do with a lot of my friends moving over. Either way, CO it is, for now.
When I resubbed in 2009 I did it to get away from some things. I didn't think I'd stay, but I did. And I haven't regretted it. I'm going to miss this old, clunky game. I'm sad the blaster changes never made it to live. I was loving what I saw on the beta.
I don't intend to play another NCSoft game. Sure, maybe ArenaNet isn't to blame, but I'm not willing to give NCSoft another dime, not after this. This was my game. This was a game I could have fun with without even being logged in, just by sitting in MIDS and making random builds. It angers me to no end that it's being done in like this, at what seems like its development prime.
Paragon Studios, you've been awesome. When I came back, I expected the same boring game that I originally could only stomach in short bursts, but found a game that was getting better by leaps and bounds. And the community was.. tremendous. I sincerely hope that Paragon Studios is able to stick together in some form or another, and make the super hero MMO that I know they COULD make, if they were to start anew. I'd gladly play, even if I had to spend another 150 dollars on boxes to get all of it.
I'll be on a lot more RTS gaming after this...anyone and everyone is free to hit me up on Steam...willblade.
MMO wise, i might head over to Champions Online again..it's been ages. Nothing like this at all. But there just aren't many options out there. I have a lifetime sub for Star Trek Online, so might as well re-download it onto this computer and jump in game.
Cypher Flash: 50 TA/Rad/Dark Defender
Controller = The Guardian Angel over your shoulder who makes sure nothing goes wrong.
Defender = The Combat Corpsman who bandages your wound, kills a Nazi with a tounge depressor, then hands you a clip of ammo.
Well, yeah.
I've been playing SWTOR for a year, but I suspect I'll be playing CoH until it's gone. As someone said in this thread, I always thought it would be there for me to come back to. *shrug* Might dabble in the Secret World for a bit, and continue playing SWTOR of course. Next game I'm waiting for is the WoD MMO. (Don't judge me)
"Looks like we arrived in the nick of time. What does that make us?"
"Big damn heroes, sir."
"Ain't we just."
-Mal & Zoe, "Firefly"
I'll be going to Guild Wars 2, but it's more due to money matters. I don't like NCSoft, but it's a fantasy MMO that's cheaper than other options open to me. I've been missing a bit of fantasy in my life.
For my Superhero fix, well... I would go to Champions, but there's something about that game that depresses me to no end, and I can't truly play a game that makes me feel bad. I have DCUO. As limited as it is, and with basically no RP community, it'll do. I do like my DC comics after all.
I also play Mutants and Masterminds, so... yeah. Hopefully that'll get an MMO spoof in the future, so, fingers crossed.
Hi Everyone,
Some of you may know me as Snowdaze or a handful of my other toons. We all go some sad news today. And none of us want to leave CoH now or anytime soon. Some of us have drifted and come back, over and over for me...
Anyway odds are NCsoft isn't going to change their mind. And in the case of CoH loss, where and what game do you think you'll end up with?
Silver Tooth and I have recently been playing on Faeblight in Rift. Our Guild is named the "Midnighters" a tribute to the Midnight Squad. Just to show that this game has changed and made who we are.
This isn't a recruitment thread it's an attempt to savage some of the community we have formed. If you'd like to join us you are welcome to, you can send an ingame rift mail to me at Chisi, or Tooth at Dethius.
If not, tell everyone where you think you'll end up.
Tragedies happen even to heroes but we have to keep on fighting the good fight.
