The where will you be going from here thead.
Are you remaking Shogun, or referring to another SG?
I haven't been in-game much so stuff might have been discussed without me, but if the United Underworld has decided to move to CO I guess I could give it another try. I just hear their chat function sucks since CO is on a merged server or something? If not, can anyone more familiar with CO explain how their chat function works since you know, its pretty important for RP |
I might go to Champions Online. I've heard it's been improved. DCUO is also a possibility, because the pre-New 52 characters are still running around...but probably not. I may pick up The Secret World and/or SWTOR as well, but they won't give me my superhero fix. I'm just not interested in fantasy games anymore and EVE doesn't look compelling to me. I'm looking forward to the WOD MMO when/if it actually comes out.
So unless by some miracle City of Heroes is saved...I guess you'll find me on Champions, if anywhere.

Do not go gently into that good night - save Paragon City!
Borderlands 2, Also I believe I am done with MMOs also.
I am so tired of this **** over & over again.

I delete more 50s, then you'll ever have.

I dunno. I need a new PC to run any of the newer MMOs out there. That's third on my list of big purchases, so I doubt it'll be done before Nov 30.
You can't spell Slaughter without laughter
All your gonna do is just farm behemoths anyways.
My thoughts on November 30.
I'm pretty much ready to write off MMOs as a whole. Little pick-up-and-play games like Rusty Hearts, TF2, and League of Legends are what I've been going for. CoX was the only really "meaty" game I wanted, and now that it's gone I don't think I'll be able to get into another game like this. After all, if something this great can fail, then the dime-a-dozen games out there nowadays will fail three times as fast.
I guess I'm going back to console gaming and/or single-player PC games.
The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)
Virtue Forever.
I might check out Champions Online. I played it for a while and it wasn't bad. It could have been better, but I hear they've made some improvements. I'm also told The Secret World is fun, so that's an option.
Whatever I do, I'm going to be posting at Beyond Virtue. See my sig for a link and bookmark it. It should be up and running soon.
I never did give CO a go, so I'll take the time between now and Borderlands 2's release to check it out. Failing that, I'll give DCUO another try. I kinda liked the game, though the visual options were limited. Just the controls never felt right to me.

I've been playing both CoX and CO for a long time, so I've got my home there. For those considering CO, or those that are already there, please see this thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...47#post4373547

If I don't end up playing Secret World fulltime, I'll most likely either play Champions or resub to WoW. It's a tossup, really. I was considering getting GW2 before this, but now? Hell no.
To anyone at NCSoft: The fact that I would resub to WoW, a game which is almost as old as this one and one I've played and quit twice in favor of this game, rather than try your brand new MMO which is a sequel to a game I played and liked.... that should tell you something.

I'm currently playing GW2, and I like it.
Yes, it's an NCSoft product, but I see two reasons not to "hold CoH against them". First, we simply do not know the specifics about why CoH is being closed and who is actually at fault. We don't know if it was actually meeting it's RoI targets or even profitable at all, what agreements had been made between PS and NCsoft prior to the Freedom route being taken, or whether there were legal/licensing issues as some have speculated. Second, tax codes aside, corporations aren't people, the people who run them sometimes have to make decisions they'd never do if it were their own personal matter. Disliking a company for a business decision they make is like disliking the north wind -- sometimes it's just gonna blow, but not from malice.

I see it as a good thing to play Guild Wars, even if the idea behind it is a bit fanciful. If my money towards Guild Wars 2 doesn't save NCSoft from ruin, due to the age of the game, the IP might just be moved on to another company. If it does, and NCSoft's gamble of relying on Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul goes well, they may see it in the cards to re-hire Paragon Studios and work on City of Heroes 2; they already know the game was popular, especially after the response we all had to the sudden closure, they can't deny a sequel would make a decent buck.
Been playing League of Legends for the last 4 days. I'm hooked. Just logged on today and read the news...
Guess I've already found my new game.
Later Virtue.
I've been playing league of legends for a few months now. But couldn't totally focus on it due to CoH with i23 and new powersets... so i guess i'll have quite a bit more time to LoL. I may go back to Champions some. I had no plans to play GW2 even before this, unless NCSoft refunds me the 3000 points i have left on my accounts in CoH.
I may just fly off into the sunset known as the "real world" and hang up my MMO tights...
Toons i'm most seen playing: Hero : xanthicsnow, Pyro Quiver, Californian. Villain: Nox Carbine
I was in the beta for The Secret World and enjoyed the stuffing out of it. Until my computer crash I was playing it after getting a lifetime sub.
It has its downsides though
The character creator is limited in certain key areas most notably there is no hieght/size adjustments possible (at least right now). They are about to add more face and hair options and a barber shop and plastic surgery which you can use ingame currency for or you can buy tickets for cash too.
The genre is much more adult and gritty being a dark modern fantasy.
Even the most 'heroic" of the secret societies have their darksides. Some quite dark...
There is no F2P option but a sub gets you a stipend of points for the "cash shop" much like VIP in City of does. A note about the cash shop, there is literally nothing there that has anything but cosmetic effects- clothing, titles, fireworks, server transfers (although that last is kinda meaningless due to the game's architecture- you can "meet up with" or group with anyone on any server. Your server only determines which of the persistant PVP zones effects you for global buffs and the like). You can buy a master pack or grandmaster pack or initate pack which does have some items but they are some starter weapons that you will drop after about 6 hours in and some health and xp pots.
Its funcom (yes they have rep but they also are known for long term support. Anarchy Online is 11 years old and still open.
It has some good things too.
Its NOT EA - they are just a distributor in this case and you can get a digital dload direct from Funcom
A very incedible storyline and quests most of which are repeatable
The environments are awesome.
Its a thinking person's game with the ability to have any "power" but only limited slots to place them in. Builds are very important but there is not a single must have build.
I actually enjoy the PvP... go figure...
The game lore is deep and accurate based on real world myths and legends and places. On the forums someone who lives in Brooklym went to the real world spot where the New York hub is and took photos the posted them side by side with screenshots. Almost a 1 for 1 match for the ingame locations... wow.
The voice acting is top notch (including Jeffery Combs as both a mad scientist and an instructor at "Innsmouth Academy")
I forgot to mention some of the BEST stuff..
There are two dedicated named RP servers Arcadia and Leviathan (but see above about servers and grouping)
The RP community is strong! Really Strong! A big chuck of them are here at http://www.tsw-rp.com but check out the official forums too!
There is already an in game radio station Radio Free Gaia hosting music and events ala The Cape..
Some Virtue groups have jumped over like Ghost Hound (now working for the bad boy Illuminati)
Join the ranks of The Dawn Patrol!
After testing it out, I do agree on that you guys should try out The Secret World too. There is a three day free trial. It's a pretty darn beautiful game and I've already bumped into some nice RP, it's got a pretty unique gameplay style to it, too.
There are downsides, though. As in the customization is limited at the moment and it's not for those looking for a "light hearted" setting. Plus, system requirements and all.
Snarky here, (my new global) Before that Jeffrey, and one other I think. Yeah, I reinvented myself a lot. Ah, sigh. no more.
I am heading to WoW. Never played there before, crap character gen, fills the desire to monkey grind. If you guild there shoot me a line. Jeffrey23Jeffrey@hotmail.com
Spent the last two days playing DCUO and CO, hoping something had changed since I played them last. Unfortunately, for me, they're still lacking. Might give the Secret World a try. I honestly just can't go back to hack and slash games with shields and swords. It's been done to death.
For those still looking for home. You might enjoy CO if all you want is PvE, decent combat and an amazing character generator (have to sub to get many of the options). The community seems nice there as well. Kind of confusing to navigate the F2P vs Silver membership. It will probably be easier to just sub.
DCUO is more polished with both graphics and fighting but very limited with powersets and costume options. Once you get to endgame (takes a day or two) all you do is grind for end game gear. The social UI is probably the worst I've ever seen.
Anyway, hope everyone finds a good home. I really think I may just play CoX until the final bugle sounds and call it quits for MMOs. I just don't see how I can top this.
P.S. you can turn off the annoying shader in CO in the advanced graphic options if you don't like them. Turning them off makes characters look much better in my opinion.

Been playing secret world, interesting, hard, not 4 color super heros though. Gods.
