  1. Not sure if this was mentioned but there is an active RP community in TSW. There is a meta group site focused on RP located at http://TSW-RP.COM A great bunch of folks who have been building community since beta.
  2. All I can think of is that this the company that FAKED A LETTER OF RESIGNATION FROM RICHARD GARRIOT to kill Tabula Rasa. That little stunt cost them 28 million dollars.

This cake is another lie IMHO
  3. Funcom's Anarchy Online has been running for 11 years nonstop.
I'm playing just fine on a Nvidia 8800 w 3gb of ram on a 5 year old system.
Sure I don't have all the bells and whistles graphically but its still a good game without any hitches except slow zone loads.
  4. I was in the beta for The Secret World and enjoyed the stuffing out of it. Until my computer crash I was playing it after getting a lifetime sub.
    It has its downsides though
The character creator is limited in certain key areas most notably there is no hieght/size adjustments possible (at least right now). They are about to add more face and hair options and a barber shop and plastic surgery which you can use ingame currency for or you can buy tickets for cash too.
The genre is much more adult and gritty being a dark modern fantasy.
Even the most 'heroic" of the secret societies have their darksides. Some quite dark...
There is no F2P option but a sub gets you a stipend of points for the "cash shop" much like VIP in City of does. A note about the cash shop, there is literally nothing there that has anything but cosmetic effects- clothing, titles, fireworks, server transfers (although that last is kinda meaningless due to the game's architecture- you can "meet up with" or group with anyone on any server. Your server only determines which of the persistant PVP zones effects you for global buffs and the like). You can buy a master pack or grandmaster pack or initate pack which does have some items but they are some starter weapons that you will drop after about 6 hours in and some health and xp pots.
Its funcom (yes they have rep but they also are known for long term support. Anarchy Online is 11 years old and still open.

It has some good things too.
Its NOT EA - they are just a distributor in this case and you can get a digital dload direct from Funcom
A very incedible storyline and quests most of which are repeatable
    The environments are awesome.
Its a thinking person's game with the ability to have any "power" but only limited slots to place them in. Builds are very important but there is not a single must have build.
I actually enjoy the PvP... go figure...
The game lore is deep and accurate based on real world myths and legends and places. On the forums someone who lives in Brooklym went to the real world spot where the New York hub is and took photos the posted them side by side with screenshots. Almost a 1 for 1 match for the ingame locations... wow.
The voice acting is top notch (including Jeffery Combs as both a mad scientist and an instructor at "Innsmouth Academy")

I forgot to mention some of the BEST stuff..
There are two dedicated named RP servers Arcadia and Leviathan (but see above about servers and grouping)
The RP community is strong! Really Strong! A big chuck of them are here at http://www.tsw-rp.com but check out the official forums too!
There is already an in game radio station Radio Free Gaia hosting music and events ala The Cape..
Some Virtue groups have jumped over like Ghost Hound (now working for the bad boy Illuminati)
  5. Um... too soon dude... too soon.

Yes we really only blame NCSoft for the shutdown.
But personally I ain't paying 'em another penny for anything under thier ageis.

Nothing personal to GW2... just the folks they hang with...

But yes I miss the 'Sushi Madness' effect too.
  7. Considering Ascendant appears in one of the COH comics and also that tram NPC dialog I might consider the Saul Rubenstein Discount Taskforce pretty much Virtue based Lore...

    Blades of Apollo

I might have called it the "Swords of Ares" but otherwise a good idea.
Wish I had an alt handy for it....
  9. Lets see the ones that come off the top of my head... *

    Soaring Valor and Shining Glory

    Deathspider

    Warp Factor

    Operative Bane

    Jack Wolfe

    Ascendant

    Comrad Smersh

    Detra

*note they may not BE gone but I sure havent seen 'em around in a long time...
  10. I'm not sure how you could do an evening of Copland without at least SOMETHING from Appalachian Spring especially the most famous movement of the entire piece.

    creative help

Although this isn't a power set use consider this. You can use costume slots to change the weapon you 'paint' allowing you to RP painting different weapons at different times.

A few other things do come to mind-

if she specializes in pastoral scenes you could use plant control as a power thematically enough.

Earth assualt also has various types of things popping up out of the ground and also has a big stone mallet too.

I'd visit the caracter creator and play around w various power sets...
  12. I know One Hit Wonder of Cape Radio fame is involved with one.
The Cape Radio forum thread about it is here -> http://www.thecaperadio.com/forum/vi...hp?f=50&t=8814

    Magical Girl SG?

    I'm still interested.
Just to be informative and I'm not saying that this is how it should be done but the old Sushi Schoolgirl Squad used specific family names tied to your primary power set for their naming convention. For example if your primary power was fire based then your family name was Miho etc. In each family there were there as many members as non-white primary colors (8 or 9 as I recall). Suki Miho's fuku was red and Hitomi Miho wore blue for example.

I suggest for naming simplicy Cute Saint (your name here) or Star Knight (your name here) works best. Then the group can dole out the planets or zodiak signs as desired. That allows for folks to leave the group and their planet or sign to be re-assigned as it were.

I would also suggest that the primary color of a member's 'magical girl' outfit is on a 1st come 1 served basis for now but that Star Knights and Cute Saints can each have a member of the same color.
  14. I just found this thread and its a good one. I would like to say there are good and bad ways to use lore when RPing. Obviously the Arachnos Commander's story is one of the 'bad' ways. Using Lore to essential God Mode = Bad. Using lore to craft an interesting character = GOOD!

For instance, one of my early characters was a MA/IN scrapper called Titanium Steele-
Stacy Steele lived on Kings Row, wasn't rich, worked in a Crey Industries secretarial pool and volunteered teaching self-defence classes at the Y. Sure she tended to talk a little too much and little too fast and generally had an attention span best described as - OOO SHINEY! Then came the day when the giant clockwork construct Paladin first appeared and began tearing up the Row. Paladin was defeated by several of the heroes that Paragon is known for but Stacy was gravely injured. Reduced to a paraplegic when rubble from a collapsing building crushed her spine she was looking at a lifetime spent being ubable to even care for herself or move independently and she was only 27!

With bills mounting and her hope fading she volunteered as a research patient for the the reculsive genuis neuro-surgeon Professor Victor Von-Nueman. He had come to her personally and recruited her to be part of his progam to test a new type of cybernetic prosthesis controlled by direct neural input. As is all too often the case in Paragon City, that reclusive genius inventor is also a mad scientist who is not above using the cities poorer members who won't be missed, as reaserch fodder. Von-Neuman did have a prosthesis for Stacy, it was a completely new body, lovingly hand crafted of the finest metals and shapped to Von-Neuman's human ideal he just had to get her brain out of that old body first.

Whatever Stacy imagined was going to happen to her, waking up in an eight foot tall robot body shaped like an annodized porn star was not on her list at all. To say she was ticked off was an understatement. To say that Von-Nueman's genius allowed her the fine control of her new stronger nigh indestructable body necessary to use her martal arts to kick his butt was ironic is also an understatement.

Stacy tried to return to her old life but when you are an eight foot tall metal woman riding the PTA subway and someone shouts help- everyone in the car turns and looks at you. Its really quite embarassing. So Stacy registered with the City as Hero and her career as Titanium Steele had begun.

Since then her story has grown as time and events have occured.

    Titanium Steele - Original Body

Post 2nd Ritki Invaison 'battle damage' body.

Repaired and Upgraded body (also used the battle damage as an excuse to switch her over to a SS/ IN tank)

As for Altoholism TS is one of my first characters I've played far too many to list here and outside of few throwaway ones all my characters have had detailed back stories that fit them into the greater CoX universe.
  15. Not to be entirely self serving let me point out the stickied thread at the top of the forums where SG's are advertising. Other than that let me direct you to the link in my sig...

    Magical Girl SG?

Been watching this thread with some interest as a former Sushi Schoolgirl Squad member. Although the Sushi's were originally spawned for comedy purposes and the sheer hyper-kintec madness of j-pop culture sterotypes running around interacting with the CoX universe; the kernal of this group does sound like a much more serious homage to the magical girl trope.

And I'm interested. I do have a concept for a character- either broadsword or dual blades along the line of the tarot card Justice (which is the card associated with Libra) that I think would work but I'm unsure if she would better as a Cute Saint Libra or Star Knight Venus. I know the sword thing kinda leans me towards a Star Knight but what do you all think?

    And Woot, love your comic!

Some pictures of the characters I made right quick-

Cute Saint Libra! (Dual Swords / Willpower Scrapper)

Her Twin Swords of Justice! (I may want to tone down the sparkles a bit though)

    Cute Saint Flower Burst!

    Cute Saint is Cute!

Star Knight Venus! (Katana / Electric Armor Brute)

    Star Sword of Justice!

Again may want to tweak the outfit...

I really like the cyborg jaw, wings combo here though...

AND Finally an old pic I found of the Sushi's cornering Ascendant and Comrade Smersh in ICON...

From the ashes of the first world war we grew...

We defended our homeland from the evils of the second...

As time passed we found new enemies, fought new wars...

    The Cold War...

Then the Rikti came, bringing our world to its knees...

Our greatest member, Hero 1, was lost saving us all...

    We carry on that tradition...

In defense of the innocent, the helpless, we will stand against the darkness.

We are the light of the coming day...

    We are the DAWN PATROL...

  18. I was not at the founding the Sushi Schoolgirl Squad but I was like #6 or 7 to join. Heck I wrote up the Sushi Lore story of how the the Sushi Squad got thier powers. Those were crazy (literally) fun days.

Cornering Smersh in Icon and then perstering Ascendant who came to "rescue" him from a pack of happy bouncy engrish spouting schoolgirls on crack.

Organizing a Lusca hunt to get revenge for all the tenacle monstery things done to japanese schoolgirls through out history.

Trying to sell a genuine Hello Sushi Lunchbox to Ghost Widow when she showed up at a party in Pocket D.

Even now thinking about it I still smile and giggle (yes like a schoolgirl). But sadly the Sushi's time has past

But sometimes I still get tempted late at night to shout in broadcast "Yatta! FOR GREAT JUSTICE!"

  19. Brings in a bucket of raw stinky fish...

    Shouts out "Poisson d'avril heureux!"

    Seemed appropriate considering the date...
  20. I can get it to launch the game for both live and beta servers but when the game loads I have no visible mouse pointer arrow...

When I switch back to the CoH updater to launch the game normally for both test and live servers I have my mouse pointer arrow back...

    Running Vista...
  21. As a mind mind dom I'd like to see my main villian Mistress Mindlash force two groups to fight each other... Not a simple confuse attack just a big PvP fest where the "winners" get to fight her.

You know the alien language thing does make for some great schtick. I've used it often...

PAX Lawbringer- Bug from the future who communicates with aid of a "vocoder" that wasn't fully programmed with that archaic language "Anglish". Fodder for lots of puns "un-intentional" confusions. He's positively ****-phonic!

Rogue Rikti- Rikti Speak: Communication : Failure : Often : Duh! Hurr hurr hurr hurr!

Rikti Mancer- See : Above : Ditto!

I once had a dog themed character ran around barking and growling like Lassie or Rin Tin Tin... best part he was a tank so he got to run on ahead of everyone in a mission just like your own loveable mutt one you unleash him...

Notoriously bad accents also can count here and when you two or more characters get together with DIFFERENT accents things can go crazy. I have fond memories of when the Sushi Schoolgirl Squad ran into Comrad Smersh in the Indepence Port Icon...

Thanks! RR here came about as part of "Build Your Best Rikti" a just for fun costume challange someone posted back around issue 10. And after reading this I ran and checked my mail... no Rikti code... I guess you're really not secretly a Dev, RogueDemonhunter...curses!

Anyway I can also back up Warp Factor with his assertions. Good RP is where you make it. Enjoy and welcome back Noku!

This might not count as it was in the ski chalet and not the main Pocket D area, but I have a random stranger start RPing with me. I was playing my Rogue Rikti character at the time. Single? Yes. Attractive? See his pic below... Female? Uh... no...

  25. I literally cannot wait for this.

    PUNDAYS have been missed sorely
