Love the CoH community!

Have you noticed how cool the City of Heroes players are?

I started playing in 2005 right before Issue 6 and I took some long breaks from CoX, mostly in issue 12-17 era, the main reason behind this was due the fact most of my friends went away to something else and I was mostly playing by myself.

I've played UO, WoW, Aion(probably the worst community wise), Lineage, Tera and a few others I don't remember but mostly these MMOs were crowded with trolls, @ssholes, egoist retards and so on.

And I have never felt as bad playing CoX, most of you are nice, helpful and great to team with or just kill some time doing silly stuff, I thought Freedom was going to kill this but actually it did help.

It might be the casual nature of the game, I don't know nor I can find ways to explain it but the community here does make this game great in an unique way.

We have some really great people in the COX and less trolls, pancakes, egoist pancakes and so on.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

Mostly we don't take ourselves seriously and are pretty casual.
Even the hardcore min-maxers are pretty easygoing so...

Yep community (sgmates/friends/etc...) definitely kept me subscribed for some time when things were slow to release (issues, updates and what not).

This is just one of the many reasons I like working with the City of Heroes community so much. I've played a fair number of games in my time, but the people here are a really special bunch, and I feel honored to be able to work with you all :-).

An example of awesomeness of the community from just 20 minutes ago: my defender needed to finish the "Defeat Dr. Quatrexin" to get that yummy shield power so I can respec her into an awesome toon, not a weakling who only gets to tag along because she brings bubbles.

I set the difficulty levels as far down as I could and still ended up running from a yellow Gunslinger. I stepped out and used the LFG channel to beg (yes, beg :P) for help. Along comes a Dom and we wiped it up in ten minutes. She wouldn't accept a (somewhat paltry I'll admit) payment for her work, just told me "I was bored." Thanks again to you, Dom, and your large dark dog!

If this community was anything like what I hear about other MMOs', I'd have probably left a long time ago.

This community is amazing - the lengths some of the players have gone to so I can film videos is absolutely astounding. They have:

a) redone costume designs
b) roped in their SGs as stunt crew/body doubles
c) escorted me around bases
d) run interference in high level zones for me
e) taken on 'second unit' directing and filming
f) sent me demofiles of effects, animations, costume pieces, etc
g) deliberately run certain arcs because I needed to film on a particular map
h) stood around places and danced, beat drums, whatever

It's just unreal. I could NEVER have made most of my vids without this community.

One of the things I like about this community so much is that we can have knock-down drag out fights here, but leave the drama at the door when we're actually playing the game.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

As somebody who's played more or less since launch, my sister mentioned to me recently that my nephew (aged 13) was being asked by his friends to play another MMO (you know, the big one we can't talk about, rhymes with cow).

I thought about the 2 communities and recommended he tried CoH instead as a gentler intro to MMOs. Today he played his first session with me having acquired a free account and seems to be enjoying it so far. Talk of a month's subscription for the summer and free play during the school year is in the air.

We haven't teamed with anybody else yet, but I'm sure that's not far away.

Our community keeps me here.

95% great though I have met some 'tards' in game and here on the forums. I nearly left for the new secret game of the Norway developers however, after experiencing their community or lack thereof inclusive of (99% trolls, @ssholes, egoist retards and so on) I remained here and happy and also saved my few hundred pounds.

Such a brilliant place.

Agreed on the whole, though recently there has been one player on Defiant being very disrespectful to one of our much loved female friends.

Yes I moan and yell at people at a whim but The Community of this game is probably one of the best in all the internet. I only yell at people because I love you all.

The ingame community is great. Can't say it plays any role in my motivation to play, but it's certainly head and shoulders above everything else I've seen when it comes to video games. Most gaming communities seem to be stuck in a teenage angst, porn addicted, furry fetish, extreme political opinions bubble. This place feels like a haven of sanity where even on the forums, as strongly as people might disagree, they talk about the game rather than irrelevant garbage.

Queuing for the Summer Blockbuster has thrown me into more completely unplanned teams with random total strangers than I have done in years.

Almost without exception, these strangers have been decent at the game and no trouble to team with, and (despite the somewhat rushed nature of the event) many of them have taken the time for social pleasantries. Everyone has been accommodating of the learning curve for players new to the event, and often taken care to make sure others get to pick the role they prefer or get that badge they want. One guy and I had different opinions on how tough one of the AVs was, but we discussed it mildly and without rancor.

I've made some additions to the friends lists.

COH players are always willing to help -- sometimes a question will get half a dozen answers. Its been that way for years. I've tried a couple other games -- but the same doesn't apply. In most games I've tried -- the players barely talk, and the upper level characters just whiz past you.

Even in person every CoH player wants to talk about the game.

Nothing compares to the CoH community.
