Disappointing Week in the Market -- Nothing new, no SSA?
Just a really bad week in my opinion. It seems like more focus was on celebrating the Batman release come Friday with some of the item picks then actually giving us anything new. I know there is plenty of items in the pipeline.
If something is new and ready to go, why isn't it given to us? Was there an issue with SSA2 in beta? |
That said them taking a week off isn't the end of the world. Save your points for another day.

We'll get new stuff when we get new stuff.
Chill.

Taking a week off? I'm sorry but this isn't the first time they had nothing of interest on a Tuesday. For a couple months now it's been old stuff on sale, old stuff on sale, old stuff on sale, something new and cool, old stuff on sale, old stuff on sale, old stuff on sale, something new and cool.

And?
There's only so much content they can make at a time.
Unless the devs suddenly grow extra hands, heads, and the ability to manipulate the time stream.

It is my firm belief that unless you know the workflow, hours, billing, planning, stages and working team of Paragon Studios and their content creation, you don't have the right to say things like "YOU'RE NOT GIVING US ENOUGH" or "NOTHING NEW? WHAT IS GOING ON, COME ON DEVS."
The devs are hard working people who bust their ***** to get us new stuff every month. Unless you can do better than they're doing now, get off your high horse and be patient like the rest of us.
My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."

So why don't we have it? None of that corresponds to your statements.
No but I can make the statement SSA2 is finished since they moved past beta testing it and they are now testing SSA3.
So why don't we have it? |
Attacked with semantics, of course it doesn't. But saying things like "I know some things are ready to go, so why don't we have them?" should be met with an immediate and obvious answer that you shouldn't have to be told: That means they aren't actually ready to go.

This is slightly unrelated, but it's a cool tidbit. It's also not a knock on the SSAs. Me and my super friends loved SSA1, we loved 2.1 and we're all looking forward to the next. Personally, I think a dev would love to read what I'm about to say.
For the first time ever, I realized a couple of weeks ago, I feel more honest-to-goodness anticipation for a bit of player-made content, a trilogy of story arcs that one of my favorite Mission Architect authors has in their pipeline. From what I hear, it's finished and in testing. I'm not going to tell you what it is because that's beside the point. But I'm looking forward to it--even more than I am to SSA 2.2.
And I think that is a fracking amazing thing to realize. Not simply because of what it says to me about player-made content in this specific instance, but because of what it says about us, the players, and what it hints at for the future. I know it's not often fair to compare things like this, but it happened naturally in the back of my mind. Speaking only for myself, the fact that I even made the comparison represents a milestone for Mission Architect and player made content.

I had been hoping for Beast Mastery to go on sale, which I knew was long odds. I threw in the towel this morning and spent some accumulated stipend to buy it.

What I said was that this isn't a case of them "taking a week off". The current schedule they appear to be following is to release something brand new every three to four weeks or so with various sales and rereleases going on inbetween as filler.
An established routine isn't taking a break for a week.
More boring filler weeks means less money for them. Just saying.

Define 'new' from where I sit, and many many others there are quite a few 'new' things out this week. Bat Aura. never seen that. Alpha and omega costume.. only available to those that have good vs evil edition or bought them on the market piece by piece.
I feel you may see my point by now? Just because something is not new to you does not mean it is not new to others

We just got water blast. You'll get another new shiny in 4 weeks. Not counting SSA. Cause those arent really shiny.
By that reasoning, they could just release exactly the same thing on the market every week and claim it was a new thing on the off-chance that someone hadn't been on the market before and so it was new to that person.

I know it's a little late but welcome to City of Heroes! Honestly, being late to the game myself, I can tell you that we are really the lucky ones. If you really embrace the whole game and don't just rush for the end game, you'll never run out of stuff to do. After all the updates, there are too many things to list in one post. I'm over two years in and I'm still a newbie in many ways. The old hands around here, they were introduced to a completely different game, and it doesn't hold a candle to the entrance we had.

That's a bit extreme don't you think? Oh wait I always forget this is the internet
|
My example is extreme yes, but it also fits exactly with your reasoning.
I was using the extreme example to show up the flaw in your claim. The fact it was extreme was the whole point. You weren't meant to like it, but it still fits with what you said.
