At this point I think I'm more afraid to find out how it unfolds. :-P

Never said that that wasn't the case.
What I said was that this isn't a case of them "taking a week off". The current schedule they appear to be following is to release something brand new every three to four weeks or so with various sales and rereleases going on inbetween as filler. An established routine isn't taking a break for a week. |
Blazara Aura LVL 50 Fire/Psi Dom (with 125% recharge)
Flameboxer Aura LVL 50 SS/Fire Brute
Ice 'Em Aura LVL 50 Ice Tank
Darq Widow Fortune LVL 50 Fortunata (200% rech/Night Widow 192.5% rech)--thanks issue 19!
So you are saying there is nothing wrong with the routine they have set. I agree.

Personally I like to keep at least 800 points available. A regular routine allows me some time to figure out a way to get more points if I want to get something new that might be more expensive as soon as it's released. A fluctuating routine (4 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 weeks) is irritating because it's harder to plan ahead.
And while I don't doubt everyone woul like new items as soon as possible, if it's too difficult for the devs to put something new out, for example the first Tuesday of each month, then by all means make it every 6 weeks.
Actually I prefer it if they have a routine for releasing new stuff on the store. I just want whatever routine they use to be regular. A regular routine lets me plan ahead.

Every 6 weeks is not a bad idea.
I agree, with the caveat that they should only put stuff out that's not a buggy mess.

I think it's just the large gap since SSA2.1 (released June 5th) that's making people edgy. Even if they release 2.2 next week that'll be a full seven weeks, just one week shy of two months, since the last one. Even though you can technically say that's "once a month", it's not really such in any practical sense of the phrase.

I don't mean to sound bitter, but IMO its threads like this one that delay releases. It's not like they are coding every bit of this game on Wednesday thru Friday, testing on Monday, and shipping Tuesday. The developers are having to code things way ahead of time, then put them in a queue for release, so that people don't get angry about not getting anything some weeks, even when they could have gotten it much faster.
I'll be the first to admit I'm not the most Beta-savvy person here, and I'm just going from memory, but thinking of what's on there right now, we've got Nature Affinity, Bio-Armor, SSA 2.2 (and 2.3, which probably shouldn't be released until after 2.2), the Cybertech costume set, and the new super boosters. A few things, but not exactly an overflow either. Especially if we assume they're not going to throw us another new powerset one week after the last one we got -- just imagine the hissyfit the "my VIP stipend should cover everything" crowd would pitch. So if we eliminate those, that's three things. Putting something truly new on the market this week, and every single week without fail, would only get them through the end of this month. First Tuesday in August, they'd be all out of new.
It's a little disappointing not to get the new SSA installment, but we got something fairly huge last week. Demanding some big new shiny every single week is basically demanding rushed, unfinished or lazy product. It's hard enough to put together something that works the way it's supposed to when they're not rushing against an arbitrary deadline.
Cut them a little slack, folks. You can have it fast, cheap or good, but you can't have all three.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.
They'll probably release it next week, but that still makes it almost two months since the release of part 1, and that's getting people edgy.
New powersets and new story arcs are very different types of content vectors, and one shouldn't preclude the other.
Didn't we just get Water Blast last week though? Why would anyone assume we should get anything new right after that.

I really don't get these threads at all. I mean, they just reak of entitlement issues. It seems like you are saying "I don't like this stuff! Only give me what -I- want to keep -me- happy with the Market."
Paragon Studios will release things as it pleases, ranting because you aren't happy and appeased every week is ridiculous.
Bank your points for when there is stuff you want, why complain? I mean, power sets and new content is coming out faster and better than ever before and folks are always whining because they want X and all we have is Y. Some folks like Y. Too bad, so sad that you don't.
I for one think they release cool costumes and power sets too close together for me to get everything I want with my stipend. But I shrug cuz they want to nudge me into buying points. I just have to adapt and be patient.
Hint hint.
Just going from memory again, but I swear that a week after another powerset (Beasts?) was released, there was at least one thread about "why is the new SSA installment the ONLY new thing on the market this week? I get that automatically as a VIP!"
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Right, I really don't get some of the comments in this thread.
They've been giving something new every single week from the start of Freedom (with the possible occasional exception), including weeks after we got a powerset.
So, is it not noteworth when it doesn't happen? How is it "being entitled" to simply comment on a vary rare occurrence?
And really, what the hell does a newly released powerset have to do with anything, when they've released stuff right after a powerset every single time before?

Main Villain: Chained Bot - level 50 + 1 Robot/FF Mastermind.

It is my firm belief that unless you know the workflow, hours, billing, planning, stages and working team of Paragon Studios and their content creation, you don't have the right to say things like "YOU'RE NOT GIVING US ENOUGH" or "NOTHING NEW? WHAT IS GOING ON, COME ON DEVS."
The devs are hard working people who bust their ***** to get us new stuff every month. Unless you can do better than they're doing now, get off your high horse and be patient like the rest of us. |
It cuts both ways. Unless you know the workflow, hours, billing, planning, stages and working team of Paragon Studios and their content creation, you don't really know how much they're busting their *****. Heck, they could be eating donuts and watching internet porn for half of each workday, far as we know...
Personally, I do think they work very hard, so I am patient.

To answer your actual question, no matter what a person's motivation for the post, stating that you aren't pleased with the selections this week (especially if specific comments are made about what -should- be on the market) it comes off sounding like: -I- didn't get -exactly- what I wanted, why does Paragon Studios suck at doing what -I- want them to!?
Do you see how that might sound like entitlement?
Also, it isn't rare for there to be a week in which an SSA or power set isn't released. In fact, it prolly happens twice a month, or more.
I know this isn't what you said, but firstly... because the threads themselves are an exceedingly common occurrence, and to see the same type of post every week a power set or SSA isn't released seems... trite and pointless to me. So, from that point alone, at least my patience is wearing a bit for this type of thread.
|
And no, I do not see why someone posting their displeasure must automatically come off as entitlement. These people want to give Paragon Studios their money, that's anything but entitled.
Further, in regards to the SSAs, when Freedom was announced we were explicitly told we were going to get a new SSA every month, and we've been getting them decidedly less often than that. Part of our VIP subscription was supposedly going to get us those monthly stories.*
Where exactly is the "entitlement" in wanting what we were told we would get?

SSAs and powersets aren't the only things they release. This is still pretty much the first week where nothing new was released.
*In fact, we were also told we would get a couple of comic pages at the start of each one, like with the tutorial. Whatever happened to those? We got a single picture with each story of the first SSA and with the second it seems we're going to get screen-shots.

We've always had one new SSA part per month. They still have time for this one, but I'm really jonesing to see 2.2.

Interestingly, looking through the records, it seems that SSA 1.7 was released exactly 1 week after the Beast Mastery set.
"But how could anyone be so entitled as to think they might release a SSA directly after a powerset?!? Stop being so entitled!!!!"

I must admit, I am saddened the new SSA chapter isn't out because - OHMYGOD! I LIKE THIE NEW SSA AND AM EXCITED FOR WHEN I'LL FINALLY SEE IT!
Oh, well, until then I'll beat things up on my Street Justice scrapper and when the weekend rolls in play GW2.
