Defeat the Army of Romulus Augustus.
I soloed it with a Peacebringer; took about an hour though. Judgment (Cryonic in this case) was my big go-to opener for the Talon groups. Most of my time was spent kiting the monsters.
It was much much quicker with a tank/troller duo. As long as you don't accept the NPC help, you should get a badge if you successfully complete it. |
Ginsunami Neko (DB/WP scrapper) soloed this one and got Knows No Fear. Without Judgement and before a Level Shift, btw. It took quite a while, yes, but it was totally worth it. Not sure if I'll try it again on another character, it was a long, epic mission. She's probably my only character crazy enough to attempt it.
+4x6 on both an SR/Staff/Body Tanker and a Fire/Storm/Stone Controller.
The Tanker took forever ._.
I soloed it with my ice/storm troller at X8. Romulus and pals were a huge PITA but I did get them all.
Overall it was one of the most fun and memorable missions Ive ever done. Massive numbers of enemies everywhere and a real challenge.
Zaphod's just this guy, you know.
I've soloed it a couple times on my 50+3 Fortunata. My first run was at +4x8.
My general strategy for all that stuff is to keep at least one boss confused at all times to help with DPS and to use my collection of huge AoEs (Void Judgment, Psychic Wail, Mass Domination and World of Confusion) to blunt response from the spawn.
Talons bosses are tremendous helpers in that regard.
The second run I just played for kicks, using my confusion powers exclusively until there was just one mob in each spawn to beat up. It took a while but I was enormously entertained.
Things I hate: Anime. PvP. Lying MMO Developers. Outleveling content. Manga. ED. Comic Store Employees. Anime.

Don't forget the Night Ward Incarnate arc, The Emperor's Sword. You also get your Incarnate Shifts for those missions, but not while running around in Night Ward between missions.
As for the topic question, I've done that mission solo twice, but only with Melee classes (one Brute, one Tanker, both 50+3). Of course, this is due entirely to those being my only Incarnate characters so far. (Looking forward to doing Incarnate stuff with my Mastermind, but he's got 11 levels to go) Anyway, I digress)
Really, you almost might as well do it solo at any level, since the NPCs tend to die long before you get to Romulus Augustus. Maybe a more support-oriented class could keep them alive up until the end, but for me the NPCs always died while fighting the first or second monster group (and a few were usually picked off by the Talons groups before even that point).
I think one of the reasons my Corruptor had less hassle with them than my Scrapper was AoEs. Helped to reduce the hp on a larger number at once, at which point I could whittle them down individually, as opposed to having to try to take them out individually each time.
EDIT: To clarify, I didn't pull the entire groups all at once; only two to three at most, and even then not on purpose. I would snipe individually, but occasionally pull multiples, but it actually worked in my favor with my Corruptor for the reasons above, ie, AoEs. Normally, my Scrapper is much more effective against groups than my Troller, but in this case- particularly with the Cyclops'- it wasn't the case. |
Did it solo last night on my Tank (+3) running at +4/x8 (effectively +1/x8 of course). It wasn't too bad, just kinda slow going (mostly single target theme build). No defeats.
I actually had more trouble with mission 2 due to all of the slow effects from the Ravager spawns on x8. 1 Defeat due to talking on the phone and not paying proper attention and getting hung on geometry.
I found it to be a quite fun, challenging arc.
Invul/Energy Tank, ironically enough given the OP
Would have been a hell of a lot quicker if I'd had Judgement unlocked at that point, but once I hit my stride having Cardiac T3 was all I needed. Trying to play a game of attrition with an Invul Tank is a bad idea
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Is Cardiac better then Spiritual? I am getting Spiritual since that make my stuff come back faster. Now looking at all of them agina should have gotten Cardiac or Agility.
I suspect Power made some questionable build decisions that have been affecting his survivability.
Simply because this is not the first time he's mentioned having trouble with something that the character he mentions should pretty much waltz through with no major issues.

Have anyone soloed this mission? I tried, with my inv/energy tank but those groups of Talons do a lot of damage. I took out a group of monsters... I used Nemesis Staff, Blackwand, and Laser Eye.
Just wondering if anyone done it... if so what AT and powers.... I clicked the completed button hoping for a badge, I should have knew that would not work.... oh well :P |
Just takes a little patience.
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!

Faces of the City
I soloed it once on a DB/SR/Energy Stalker with an Inventions build the forums gave me, but only a Common Alpha power. It was a PAIN IN THE *** to run, however, since Elude couldn't save me from the Monster spawns and I spent most of my time single-pulling enemies. It took me a good two hours and I don't remember the experience fondly. I ran the mission at -1, which without level shifts just makes everything spawn at 50, with the occasional Monster spawning at 49, but not often.
I soloed it again on a Titan/Inv/Energy Brute with an all-Uncommon Inventions build I made for myself and again, only a Common Alpha power. Well, I "soloed" it because I took the help of Sister Solaris and the others. They didn't help much. I had to rerun the mission three times because the first two saw the "helpers" aggro multiple spawns and wipe, leaving me with a whole mission and no help. On the third try, they lasted until shortly after the monsters, whereupon they died and left me to fight the last two huge spawns by myself, as well as Romulus and Keres. It took me over an hour as I had to wait for Unstoppable to recharge a few times. Again played at -1, which set all my enemies to 50 but most of my helpers to 49. Thanks a lot.
