No it isn't. There has never been a Starship Troopers movie.
Nope.
None.
Ever.

In fact, it's had 2 sequels released and a 3rd in production.
I have to admit through, it would be nice to have one that's actually, y'know...good.

I think I started having flashbacks to Plan 9 from Outer Space during the 3rd - and from what I hear, the 4th is gonna be just plain awful.Granted, Plan 9 still hasn't been matched, IMO. There have been some contenders, though.

I never read the book. So I thought the movie was fun. But never saw the sequels though. Heard they bit.

Yeeeah, the original movie had nothing at all to do with the book. The movie's story was already set in stone when someone got the bright idea to give the movie the book's title. For what? Some vague similarities? Maybe if you cover your ears and squint, and you're very drunk... maybe! As if no one would ever notice!
You people are aware that the Starship Troopers films were anti-war satires right? (Okay, well maybe not the second; they really screwed the pooch on that one.) I actually found them rather endearing, entertaining and highly underrated.
They (with the unfortunate exception of the second) were not meant to be taken with a straight face. They actually were a brilliant commentary on our society's appetite for meaningless wars, brainless propaganda and intolerance of anything that challenges the status quo.

I still enjoyed the movies, not so much the second, but they weren't Heinlein's Starship Trooper's, and you can't reboot something that was never made in the first place.

Seriously though, I don't think they really can be taken with a straight face. They're so blatant that it's just...eh, restating the obvious is obvious. Anyway, yes, and be that as it may, it would be neat to have a movie made from the book too.

I'm not arguing this point though. It clearly wasn't meant to be a faithful depiction of the book. But for people to call these movies "terrible" is doing them a great injustice. They truly are brilliant satirical films.

Admit the Third one was fairly terrible...even if they did FINALLY include the mecha suits from the books in it.
First one was ok, the second one was a bit crap and the third one was terrible.

Ah, well.
If there needs to be a space combat suit movie, I'd rather someone try their hand at John Steakley's "Armor", but "Starship Troopers" gets all the raves so not real surprised.

-Ian Flemming wrote Casino Royale( one of the first Jame Bond books I think)
-in the 60's or 70's Woody Allen did a movie called Casino Royale, which is really much closer to Austin Powers than James Bond
-Daniel Craig's first James Bond movie was Casino Royale based off the book, most definitely not a reboot of the Woody Alllen movie
with that said, I enjoyed Heinlen's book, I enjoyed the Starship Troopers movie for what it is( and Denise Richards did look hot back then)

I don't mind a PG translation of Starship Troopers if its more faithful to the material. Scratch that: if its faithful to the material, as it would be impossible for a sixth grade stage play to be less faithful to the original novel.
