LMAO XD. Sorry aboot that. Hey now! I know I'm not the only one on the forum who uses abbreviations for powers :O.

Yes, OSA is Oil Slick Arrow...I need to stop abbreviating everything I guess lol.

Thanks for the clarification. I've only been playing for a year, so I don't have all the abbreviations memorized. Sorry.

Don't sweat it BV you're fine! You'll get used to the abbreviations with time even if you tend to not play a certain set or AT...also Alt-itis will help you learn as well lol.

100% constant KD in a power that can be perma with minimal recharge slotting. You can have that kind of control over every spawn. It actually made my Fire/Kin almost boring to play because he was going through spawns with zero risk of even getting damaged, let alone defeated.

You have permanant unbreakable control over entire groups of enemies, provided they are not knockback resistant. They flop on the ground, and then flop again before they even get up, and they keep doing that for the entire duration of the power, at which point you can just lay down another one.

I'm honestly expecting this to be tweaked a bit, it's a little overpowered.
It's very, very strong. But I've been wondering how would one change it. The easiest (cheesiest) nerf is to simply not allow the power to accept Universal Damage sets anymore. But that's a noob GM move. However, nerfing the proc or the power doesn't make sense since neither is overpowered except in powers like Bonfire.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Volcanic Gasses is still impressive though...it's pretty darn hard to beat Perma Volcanic Gasses slotted with Chance for +2 Mag Hold, Chance for Psionic Damage, Chance for Smashing Damage, Chance for Energy Damage. Bonfire would still push ahead damage wise but not control wise.

I've been meaning to test it out in Volcanic Gasses and if it behaves like I think it will the devs might have to nerf the proc for VG as well : /.

This proc makes me sad and happy all at the same time lol.

I'm stealing someone else's suggestion, but based on how this proc works, putting a Mag 1 unenhanceable knockback in Bonfire would theoretically fix the proc in this power, without radically changing the power.

For a long time I've suspected Volcanic Gasses got missed during the global AoE hold nerf, and has the values it does more out of luck than because it was planned. I'm not advocating nerfing it, but based on the massive reduction in capacity other AoE holds got, the 60 second duration stands out as weird.

They should definitely nerf the proc in Bonfire. Killing spawns on +4/x8 with zero risk is intruding on the territory of my Mind/Fire dom!

No, but seriously, I am totally against releasing something like this, especially a limited-time promo item, and then retroactively nerfing the most effective uses for it. It's like giving a child a free lolipop, and then telling them they aren't allowed to actually eat it. It also wreaks of bad design and planning, the sort of "let's just toss a bunch of crazy crap out there and then nerf it if it causes problems" attitude that erodes player faith in the dev team until people start dreading updates more than anticipating them (for an example, see EQ2).

I have been playing a single player game for the last couple of months. What proc is this and how do i get it?

As to the person mentioning that Tornado seems less zippy, thats because it only followed guys it knocked back. Since it isnt knocking them back, it doesnt chase as much. Thats a suspicion.

Anyway, what is this proc from? I keep seeing something about X number of runs and drops etc?

Thanks,

Lewis

It's the Proc from Overwhelming Force, a new set that can go in any damage power, basically. It has a 20% down and also converts any power's extant chance for knockdown and also converts any extant KB in a power to KD.

You can choose it off the rewards table at the end of the Summer Event. 20 hour cooldown per character and you randomly get one of the six pieces.

In a perfect world the Devs would have the time and resources to make another version of all the current in game KB powers. *Dreams*

As awesome as it might be in Bonfire, I would be more tempted to put it in Gale.

It would turn Gale into a cone knockdown, which certainly would be more useful. But a better use of the unique proc is Tornado, turning 'Nado from a chaos-creator to an effective control/damage pet.

I have tried it in Bonfire on my Fire/Rad, and it is truly awesome. The entire group keeps falling down all together (unlike Earthquake and Ice Slick where the fall-down is less predictable). My biggest problem is trying to take a power that was previously a one-slot wonder (a single damage IO) situational power and find slots for it to be a every-time-it-is-up power.

The new Overwhelming Force Universal Damage IOs currently cannot be sold on the market. You can, however, trade them and glee-mail them. I'm storing them up in my base. I was very lucky and got 5 procs in about 11 runs.

Yeah same here...although I usually get the Acc/Dmg/End/Rchg or Acc/Dmg/Rchg ones...

I've received 2 of the procs in like 20 runs it seems *cries*

Well, I got an End/Rech my first run and then got the proc in my next 3 runs. I had the other two drop in my next 7 or so runs.

Since then, I've been doing about 2-3 runs a night and only gotten one more proc to drop. You'll be happy to know that I didn't have any drop last night.

Holy Crap Local I've completed 50+ runs and I have only scored 3 procs...maybe you gain procs according to how well you do your role?

I don't think they are weighted like that, but I do seem to have gotten them more often on perfect runs.

I think I would like to see this tried in water spout.

Wah? Waterspout isn't bad at all. It only causes Knockup.

Two persons in team got the proc on a perfect badge run.

A not perfect run gave none...

Will try to find a badge team and do another perfect one to see if it really differs.

Go for it! I love mixing Tornado with waterspout on my Fire/Storm...I mean seriously that's some tasty damage and now with the proc in tornado you can spam both of them without much issue!

I'm kind of upset that you can't sell them. I don't see myself using them in any other character and I'm sure I could use the INF a lot more.
