i24 Blaster set changes - what will this get you to play?

I might try an ice/ice blaster again. I liked the control plus damage, I hated having to wait to recover health.

I am also excited for any improvement to DP. I liked the set but gave up on it eventually. I won't play a blaster with it, but I may redo a corr with dp.

ironically I am not looking at any sets with snipe. My other corr is sonic.

New life being breathed into my Beam/Devices Blaster, and maybe my Archery/Ice, depending on how the changes to Chilling Embrace stack up in practical application. I don't have too many characters outside of that who I see getting significant benefit.

I may switch out flares for the snipe on my fire/x Corrs.

I may also try a firex3 blaster, but no guarantee's it will make it past 30.

I have three blasters I play and will continue to play Fire/MM, Arch/MM, DP/Elec. The changes won't effect me one way or another, I have always played my blasters just fine tyvm.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

it will likely do 2 things.
1, im going to spec into zapp on my emp/lit defender, thats the only ranged character i have that skipped her snipe.
2. i'm going to be a lot more aggressive with her about fortifying defenders. previously i used fort to buff the damage dealers first(scrap, stalk brute blasters, and v/heats) now i can put other defenders/corrs into insta snipe mode with the to hit buff, so going to have to make a note of that.(EDIT: yep, her fort buff is 22.50, so i can insta-snipe a ranged character with one buff application)

I keep forgetting about the secondary changes, that will likely make things easier too.

Im a brawler in spirit, i like a up close and personal beat down, so im not the biggest blaster guy(though if "poker face" hawk's hint is true, a /martial arts blaster WILL get rolled.) but they are fun when i run em.

me?

my ar/dev, who's been around so long he still remembers the halcyon days when one of the first 50's on live was an ar/dev who caltrop'ed his way to the top running around the sewers, saw smoke grenade go from 'ridiculous' to 'pointless', was neutered by ED, remembers when Gun Drone was Gun Turret, etc etc.

I'm hoping it gives him the necessary boost to make him fun again- hopefully I won't have to do much fiddling around with his range-defense capp'ed build to take advantage of perma insta-snipe.

Pretty much this.

I'll be playing my 4 blasters that I've always played and will be glad I'll be able to hit my ST T3's from a longer range and have my snipes usable during combat.

Fire/Dev/Munitions, Archery/Dev/Munitions, DP/EngManip/Munitions, and Beam/Dev/Munitions.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

I'll likely be using my elec/devices blaster much more frequently, he's my original character but I just found him pretty lackluster, these changes i think will boost him considerably since I'll have the perma snipe right out of the box and I constantly use Cloaking Device, so Field Operative will be a very welcome change.

I'm looking forward to digging out my old Elec/Elec Blaster. He was actually my very first character, but I never got him past level 20.

The change to /ice sounded interesting, I just need to come up with a primary I want to mix it with.

Also my Arch/MM blaster will be almost entirely unaffected by the changes. My 3rd attack was already 80ft and /MM isn't being changed. I do have the snipe and build up is 6 slotted with gaussian's for the set bonus, so when I do build up+rain of arrows I may slip a quick snipe in afterwards.

Well I'm already enjoying my Beam/Dev blaster so these changes will only make me enjoy him more. It's tempting to unretire my AR/Dev Blaster but he was retired for theme reasons rather than power reasons so I probably won't.

My Time/Elec Defender will definitely respec to take Zapp.

Build a Rad/Fire currently 25 I'm enjoying. I'm probably strange in that I like Blazing Aura on him. Except for the detoggling. If that gets changed, yay!

It doesn't change much TBH.

Blaster changes IMHO fell short of changing things. The snipe changes however tips things even more to corruptors v blasters.

With the exception of my AR/Dev blaster who gets a HUGE boost, it won't get me to play/create more blasters*

*Pending other changes

H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster

Going to enjoy having Blaze and Power Burst at increased range and the new snipes, but overall my Blasters perform quite well (Fire/Mental and Dark Blast/Energy Manipulation)...so these changes will simply make my Dominators and Corruptors even more OP.

Blasters were my original Issue 1 love, but we eventually grew apart as the years went on and melee damage became closer in comparison.

My first two blasters were Molecule Misfit (Energy/Ice) and Magician (Ice/Fire). I played them both to 50, then re-rerolled (early on, way before server transfers, extra slots, and renames were available) the former as an Energy/Energy, and the latter as a Fire/Storm Controller.

The Energy/Energy relies on Power Boost plus Aid Self for healing. I believe I have Conserve Power (which will become Energize), so it won't require any power shuffling. Because Power Boost + Aid Self is pretty potent and a part of my playstyle, I'll just keep both. I will have to find a way to sneak my snipe back into my build though; I always liked sniping, I just never had many opportunities to do so, especially because Energy's snipe always seemed to be the worst for pulling.

My other 50 blaster is Ice/Electric. It will be nice for Bitter Ice Blast to have longer range, but it never really bothered me. I don't know how I'm going to fit in Lightning Clap, or even if I really want it... I'll never use it in the middle of a mob, so... Also, no snipe.

I have many other blasters, but nothing that I'm sold on.

I created a Psy/Device just the other day in preparation for the changes, but... Outside of Targeting Drone and Cloaking Device, there isn't too much excitement in Devices for me. Gun Drone may be cool; I've never seen it.

At this point, the only thing getting me to play Blasters right now is the upcoming Water Blast set, which looks like the hotness. My inclination is to go Water/Mental, which wouldn't take advantage of any new changes (no snipe, no changes to Mental).

Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

It'll make my high-level blasters who need to respec into Inherent Fitness even more in need of respecs, since I'll want to pick up powers in a different order. I tend to end up taking and often using the snipes, so it doesn't really change much for me on that end. On at least one of them, I'm going to continue waiting on that respec for at least a while due to the possibility of new pool powers.

I rarely solo at what most players would consider "challenging" levels on most characters, and the changes don't look like they'll suddenly turn blasters into softcapped, high-resistance scrappers or permadom dominators, so I don't see gameplay changing much for my blasters there, either.

I might also make a new version of my Ice/Mental blaster as Water/Mental on a different server; Water Blast just fits his concept better.

Gun drone used to absolutely stink, but they made it pretty much insta-cast & now it's at least situationally useful- think of it as a minor damage DoT attack that also distracts some random amount of aggro. I've been using it on my ar/dev as a sort of Chaff attack- if anything gets past my caltrops, I pop out a drone to hopefully distract them from beating on me as I re-entrench.

But in general, I agree that /dev is still weak.
I like this buff because I already have an ar/dev, but it's nothing that makes me reconsider my position that /dev is the red-headed stepchild of blaster secondaries.
