I ran a Dr. Quaterfield yesterday on a rogue. Between TUNNEL, team transporter and a clutch performance by mission transporter when I accidentally hit ouroboros, we won in something like 2:45 and it was only moderately painful! Strange days.

XD it felt appropriate to whip that old blurb out again

I remember crying (Okay, not really crying, but still) when there wasn't a Taxibot on duty in the Hollows.
Oh how we have gotten spoiled!
At first I was like *facepalm* at the TUNNEL System because it's already stupidly easy to get around. But after using it for a bit I'm all like *DROOOOOOOL*

Faces of the City
It's funny, I recently started a character that will not use the trains.
It's just a rule for this character that I found myself deciding upon while playing, and facing my first decision to leave Atlas and head to Kings Row...
I opted to fight my way through the sewer network to get there (which was fun!).
And I realized that taking the train was just entirely too unglamorous for this character (as opposed to fighting through the sewers, lol, but there is some sense to that).
It's weird, because I could make the same distinction with several other characters of mine that I never limited as such.
I guess this character's hubris is just SO MUCH a part of his persona that it stood out as a problem for me, hehe (a good problem!).
So, he flies from zone to zone (sometimes through another zone) to travel around... And then they released the TUNNEL system and... you know what... that's not so unglamorous!
Haha...

One time, I made sure to grab the Atlas Park Mayhem Mission, which was waaaaaaaaaaaay over on the edge of Port Oakes, so I could get my 2-hour Raptor Pack!
Still wish I could go from the Rikti War Zone to Cimerora (or at least the midnighter club) without breaking a Co-op Team...
Maybe have a portal in RWZ instead of Founders/St. Martial?

Call up the repeatable mission contact in Cimerora and get a mission. Set it, then have someone use Team Transporter to get the entire team there in one jump. Abandon mission or not as you see fit once you're there.
And while I can see why they wouldn't have a Tunnel gate in the RWZ, I could easily see one in Pocket D.

So in i23 there are currently 60 zones: 30 Hero, 11 Villain, 10 Mixed, and 9 Praetorian. Whoa! That is a lot of ground to cover.
On the upside, the devs very thoughtfully included the new TUNNEL system so it feels twice as easy to get around as before. Thanks! On the downside, my map cheat sheet is getting too big to easily read. Oh, thanks! I am in awe that Vidiotmaps managed to still fit them in one picture. There are all sorts of fun stats to be deduced, but here are my favorites... *** Atlas Park is by far the most connected zone. It directly connects to half of the hero zones (14) and a third of all the zones (21). If I figured correctly, a Vigilante or Rogue can get to any other zone in the game from Atlas Park within 3 transfers. (Not including the starting zones Destroyed Galaxy City and Precinct Five, of course.) Much better than way back when in i2 where getting to The Storm Palace for a TF after a CC in under Atlas Statue meant going from Atlas Park through Steel Canyon, Talos, Peregrine Island, and Firebase Zulu first transferring to The Chantry to talk to Faathim the Kind. Now the path is Atlas Park > Firebase Zulu > The Storm Palace. Going from that CC to a redside Hami? Altas Park > Imperial City > Grandville > The Abyss. Okay, that was already possible with the RWZ, but it still feels faster with the TUNNEL. Cap Au Diable and Grandville tied for the most connected Villain zones; and Imperial City claimed the honor in the Praetorian zones. Want to see the stats? I didn't think so. Well, here is a link to the screenshot anyway... (image snipped) Thanks again for the TUNNEL system, devs! |

*Not "Interzone," because so far as I've found to date, there isn't any connection between existing CoX zones and the work of William S Burroughs.

Thanks again, everyone!
I wish Atlas wasn't the "hub of everything".
Too many other zones are just empty. People need more than just temporary combat reasons to go to other zones. There needs to be something highly desirable that Atlas doesn't have.
Dr. Q in under 3 hours? What a crazy world COH has become. Designed as a multi-day TF, slogged through in a single 8-9 hour session in practice and promptly forgotten by everybody except the most dedicated TF runners.
It hurt so much one Dr. Q run I did where the TF leader lost his connection and the star devolved onto a guy who had gone AFK an hour beforehand (presumably he fell asleep) and showed no signs of returning, with a GM that couldn't do anything about it because the rules.

I fondly remember those days of Doc Q taking 8-9 hours. So painful. So....so painful.

I am VERY happy about the TUNNEL system. Not really what I was expecting, but anything that makes life easier is a bonus for me. One of the main issues I've had with CoH was the difficulty in getting around Paragon city and all other associated zones.
