Why is it that I'm not surprised that someone would do something this poorly thought out? I did not realize I was quite that pessimistic about humanity.

I'm surprised he didn't get shot...

I'm not too privy on what constitutes a "prank" but I'm pretty sure it doesn't involve harassment and terrorizing women and children.

Too close to be newsworthy anymore. The 'new findings' 'refuting' the Mayan date story that came out a few weeks ago will be the last you hear of it until a week before, when stories will start being run about how funny it was people bought into it/what people are planning to do to celebrate the anticipated non-event.

I've still requested the day of the supposed end of the world AND the day before off of work. I don't want to be outside. I know how panicked people behave, and I'm not about to drive on the same road as hoax-drowned maniacs trying to stock up on gas and canned food.

I would have thought one of the advantages of the end of the world would be not needing gas and canned food...

Well...'end of the world' could be interpreted to be 'end of the life that we know'. Stocking up on canned goods/fuel/ammo could stave off the inevitable hordes of road-brigands, cannibal mutant zombies, and the radroaches for a little while at least.

Comes to a point where its no longer a prank but a danger to himself and the community.
Should have been arrested for the way he was acting.

Well, road-brigands need someone with stuff to brigand off of, otherwise, it's just a bunch of leather, chain, and skull clad guys driving around. And that's really a...different...sort of scenario.

The cannibal mutant zombies also need a well-fed populace to cannibal on.

Well, to be fair, even if the folks knew he wasn't a zombie, they didn't know whether it was a prankster who would take the prank too far and hurt them (intentionally or not) nor whether this was someone with a psychotic breakdown who would not know to actually not attempt to eat their brains.

I admit, I made the rather poor move of commenting without watching.

Yeah... It is absolutely not as clear cut as I thought it might be before watching. I think all the ridiculousness surrounding the number of horrible reports (which, unfortunately, occur somewhat regularly, with or without media hoopla) tainted my approach on this. I don't normal comment without checking into it. My bad.

He was charging people and I didn't expect that. That changes things a lot and I was wrong. I thought he'd be stumbling about like a good zombie... this guy was aggressively invading people's space.
Dressed as a zombie or not... that might get you shot.
