I23 Weapon customization unlocks

Kinda hoping to get some Dev input on what new weapons options were introduced with the new issue besides the obvious stuff from the new mecha VIP pack, since I've seen a few new options and I have no bloody clue how to go about getting them...or if its even possible.

I've seen at least 1 titan weapon unlock available via the Magi trial: Excalibur...a super-rare recipe drop like Maelstrom's pistols, basically something I can dream of getting since they're selling for roughly 700 mill to 1 billion inf at the moment on the market. If it was an accound-wide unlock...yeah, that price would be worth it. But to only get it on a single alt? Boo-urns on that, for that price I could deck out half a dozen alts in full IO's and sets.

From my puttering on beta, and from running the Magi trial...I've also seen at least 2 staff options as well: the utterly badass looking spear that Shadowhunter uses, and a second type used by one of the Black Knights (looked like a staff with a studded mace head on either end). The Knights also have new sword and shield options as well. Are these attainable by players, or just for NPCs use?

I actually placed a bid on 2 Maelstrom's Pistol recipes the other day. (Hope I can get it for that price)

From what I've heard in game, and possibly read on the forums, don't remember exactly, 1 Maelstrom's Pistol recipe only gives you 1 pistol for 1 hand. In other words, you need to craft 2 of the recipe to have a pistol in each hand. Currently they are showing a price around 400 million to 800 million for each recipe. The first recipe probably crafts the right hand pistol and the second gives you the left hand. (Not sure on this. I'll post in the questions section about it. The paragon wiki only says you get both pistols unlocked instead of receiving a recipe for a dual pistols or thugs mastermind when purchased with empyrean merits.)

To my understanding, all in game weapon and costume pieces crafted from recipes are CHARACTER only, not account wide. So this new titan weapon recipe you are seeing in the auction would be character only.

Hmm.......the wiki seems outdated
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Unlockable_Weapons
"As of issue 12, there are no weapons unlocked by crafting a recipe drop." -(Edit: Kinda funny because the weapons customization page lists Maelstrom's Pistol (invention recipe) under Dual Pistols>Unlockable Models.)

And here: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Weapons_Customization#Staff

Staff and titan weapons are showing Unlockable models: none

So why should the devs make it account wide because players price it high in the AH? Anyway, just like Maelstrom's pistols - if you run the iTrial, and finish it, on a character who uses the weapon(s) in question, you can purchase it for empyrean merits, I think it is, in Ouro.

The only unlock I know of is Excalibur.

They were trying to get the Excalipur in as well, but couldn't get it to lower your attack stats correctly.

If you've done TPN, your character can go to Empyrean Michael (?) and buy the pistol unlocks with incarnate merits, can't they?

With the character who has that power set only (so you cannot use another character to unlock it for a lower-level character this way.)

I am not VIP so there is no way for me to do TPN. I already posted wiki links and info about being able to unlock it via empyrean merits if you read my whole post instead of just quoting a small portion of it.

To quote myself, in the first paragraph of my earlier post: "The paragon wiki only says you get both pistols unlocked instead of receiving a recipe for a >dual pistols or thugs mastermind< when purchased with empyrean merits."

Perhaps I could have been more clear: dual pistols character or thugs mastermind character only are able to receive the unlock via empyrean merits.

Oooo, did not know that >.> Probably because I haven't got a DP or TW alt to incarnate range quite yet, so I never noticed the extra unlocks on the list. Good to know, thanks for that info.

I would like to know what new broadsword options were added if any and how to get them, particularly if I can get them as a non-VIP?

Posted

The only new broadsword options currently are the Mecha Armor ones, which are in VIP t9. The Black Knight NPCs have a new broadsword, which is not currently available to players, although hopefully (?) that and some other Black Knights costume pieces will be put on the market sooner or later.

Is Excalibur a Titan Weapon only? Meaning, only Titan Weapon AT's can equip it at the Tailor?

Anyone got shots of Excalibur? I am intrigued here.

Currently playing:
The Domestic: Broom/WP
Shadowhex: Dark Control/Dark Affinity
Defenestration Lass: Grav/Kin

I give it an 8 out of 10. It isn't the best looking, but it is better than most of the other options.

On my little anime-inspired TW/Elec brute it looks outstanding in action.

So we go from Excalibur being a little knife on Ms. Liberty's belt to something almost taller than the wielder. Do not want Titan Weapon Excalibur.

I was thinking the same thing. That's funny. Or maybe sad.

That being said....

I'd go out of my way for a Broadsword Excalibur, but have no interest in a TW version. I'm happy for those that do, but it is not for me.

This is the Praetorian Excalibur... Everything in Praetoria is bigger to the extreme... I am annoyed it wasn't called "X-Calibur" to further denote how xtreme it is.

The armor did look interesting on my jaunt through Night Ward. I hope they do add it in someday.

But, I still am waiting very patiently for something very simple and metallic, akin to Valkyrie 3 shoulders or more like the Alpha glasses, for short gloves and boots for my characters.
I really want something that is very simple and elegant and looks like somethign I would actually wear.

I would like more broadsword options, and more options for every weapon set just because more options are great.

LOL@ Blast_chamber

Oh by the way, Excalibur is a magical sword. It could change size based on the will/needs of the holder. That explains how it has 2 different versions in the game while allowing for us to have a broadsword version, if they only made it.

A Broadsword version of Excalibur would indeed a) make sense and b) be awesome. This was discussed at some length on the beta boards, actually. Excalibur resizing has been canon since day 1, after all, since Ms. Liberty wears it on her belt like a box cutter.

If we ever get the Black Knight sword, I'd be happy with that, too. I'd un-retire my BS/SD just to use that sword.

And the standard Legacy Broadsword in Hero One's hands. Excalibur is the right size to suit the person carrying it - that was the explanation given when the size of the sword Ms Lib carries was questioned. Pendragon obviously is compensating for something.

I have precisely one character that really needs the Excalibur TW to complete her look. Eventually there will be a glut of Excalbur recipes on the market and I'll buy it for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the success rate for taking Tyrant down is abysmal right now, and so now is not a good time to grind Magisterium for the recipe drop, IMO (at least half the trial runs right now are "mini-Mag" runs purely for the AIxp anyway).
