Praetorian Infernal

Agent White

All of the Praetorians are either killed off during an Incarnate Trial or Task Force... all except for Infernal. He doesn't appear in the up-and-coming Magisterium Trial so maybe he'll join us OR... be killed off in a mission?

Or maybe...

...

It's an Infernal Plot.

That's just because he's old man Muntz trying to scare Ms. Wells off from developing on other worlds.

Also, funny thing is, if they wanted to keep Praet Infernal, all they'd need to do is reveal HE was Primal Infernal's missing friend who went nuts.

But Primal Infernal and his "friend" were both sent to Primal Earth according to Primal Infernal's bio.

I don't understand why. Primal Demon Dimension where Primal Infernal comes from. Why not have an alternate Praetorian Demon Dimension where Praetorian Infernal comes from? After all, there's three (now two) versions of Statesman.

If they are retconning him out, I fully support it. PraetFernal just made things a complicated mess that didn't get helped by the shoddy writing back then, or the 'alt-dimension of an alt-dimension' stuff we then run into. Not to mention the previous Goatee-verse of Praetoria.

Leave him out, I say.

It never went away - they just hid their goatees behind pretty buildings

Hmm... when you put it like that...

There's really no reason that there can't be a Praetorian Infernal (the branching point is Infernal's destination from his home dimension -- after he left, you now have two versions of his home dimension; one where he went Primal, one where he went Praetorian), but I wouldn't cry too hard if he got retconned out, especially since the Praetorian storyline is pretty much getting tied up soon anyway. If they can find a way to work him in to where the storyline is going, great (ally of the Battalion? hmm???), but if I were the devs I wouldn't bend over backwards to do it.

Well, it's hard to retcon a character out of existence when you can still pummel him over and over again in basic mission content. I'd say he's probably an opportunist that deserted when he saw things in Praetoria were going south.

I thought it would have made sense that Praetorian Infernal was our Infernal's former best friend.

My Stories

Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.

There's still more to come in Praetoria: Hamidon; the power vacuum; a lot of souls left uneaten and unused now that Diabolique and Cole (the avatar of Tartarus) are now gone; Praetorian furies and the X of Vengeance (there are 'Angels of Vengeance' seen in Night Ward). I can think of several ways a Praetorian Infernal can get involved as well as a whole host of Primal-Signature-NPCs' Praetorian counterparts.

And by "best friend", you mean "lover", right?

Protean recently confirmed that the Praetorian Infernal isn't dead, and is just doing his own thing right now.

See also: he's become a Hikkikomori and spends all day playing video games and watching anime.

He personally finds the latest the season's latest line up lacking in "moe".

No because they look the same and are the same person and that's just...

... wrong.

But a popular wrongness, at least so the world of fanfic would suggest.

Any setting that involves alternative dimensions means this is going to happen often.

Imagine if every Dimension had its own set of sister dimensions. Every variety of Earth has its own set of independent Earth varieties. Welcome to Praetorian Praetorian Earth!

I think Praetorian Infernal is really Tyler Durden.

Wait, I must be missing a step. At what point does this become "wrong?"

Also, I really would like to avoid the "alternate version of an alternate dimension" unless we want to mess with dimension physics and start introducing self-contained dimension clusters that are allowed to have interlinks between each other without affecting their mirrors. I CERTAINLY do not want to see amoeba style dimension travel where a person leaving his home dimension splits into an infinity of people, one per other dimension so every other one would have an alternate version of that dimension traveller.
