Discussion: Featured Items at the Paragon Market - 5/8/12

I love it when people wax nostalgic about some imagined golden age... a simpler time, when developers cared about their games, and did things the way they did because those methods were objectively better and certainly not because other methods simply hadn't been conceived of yet. Oh, for those halcyon days of yore, the period stretching roughly from 2002-2009... these kids playing today will never understand how wrong they are for considering what's normal now "normal" instead of what was "normal" for that very specific time period, which is obviously the real normal.

Yeah, I've gotta say it too: this here is brilliant.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

What do these boosters boost? XP? Inf? Enhancements? Sex appeal?

Them failing "someday" was never a question. MMOs don't last forever, no matter how badly some of us may want them to.

Paragon Studios focusing on a hybrid model--pushing for both subscription AND microtransaction revenue--was a pretty bold move. So far it seems to be paying off for them, so I don't think we have to worry that "someday" will be "soon™ day."

I also don't really think of the ability to buy enhancements is truly "pay to win," because (a) they simultaneously have both minor advantages and disadvantages over in-game enhancements, and (b) the only thing you "win" is a few dozen hours of free time back that would have otherwise been spent farming.

Unless they start selling items in the Paragon Market that are both vastly superior to regular IOs and unavailable outside of paying real money for them, I'm just going to roll my eyes anytime someone says "pay to win."

(But hey, at least they're not saying "slap in the face.")

Have Enhancement Boosters ever been on sale for 50% off?

Thanks! Maybe they could call them something crazy like Enhancement Boosters.

I know, right? Crazy indeed!

That's why I always list them as Enhancement Boosters when I do my weekly Paragon Market updates.

I don't believe so. I checked my notes and the previous Featured Items postings, and have not seen a sale of more than 25% off.

Hey guys,

Sorry about the lack of Unslotters in the list. It's been updated.

Best,

I thought for sure today would be the day. I want that power so very much. ;sigh... Maybe next week.

I'm pretty sure that's been going on ever since there were 3-4 MMOs to choose from

Not surprised really-

I think there's still some serious kinks to work out. On beta, my toon always has the stealth power available to him- even outside of panther form. Obviously this isn't intended and might be the reason for it's lack of release.

Good news:
One less rare purple set to be used as a "NEW ITEM!"

Bad news:
We still have "rare" PvP sets...

I believe they've said they're never going to sell PvP IOs.

So... mid-August, at the soonest.

2k for a set, insanity. Even with the 50% off that's $25 for a enhancement set, because why? it was so difficult to make? nothing in this game is worth $25, once again the guy who sets your prices is apparently insane... good to know.

maybe not, but the first one is still there, I know people who still play EQ even if I can't go back.

purple set...neat....a few heal sets on sale..neat......

Anywise so assume the purple set will be around for a week like the last one....

This all neat and stuff...but the heck is the deal with so many sets not on the market....i mean there are huge gaps...like defense and to hit debuffs not there....and what about the other heal sets?

If there's nothing else a VIP wants to burn points on, they can burn a bunch on those. *shrug* And on sale, it's 2 1/2 months worth.

As far as I'm concerned, the more people buying these purples the better. I personally think it's a ridiculous amount of money for a set of enhancements, but I certainly don't mind if someone I might be teaming with has awesome set bonuses.

Not arguing that it's not expensive, but some people value their time over their money.

I bought the Hecatomb set a couple weeks back to use on a character simply because I didn't want to spend months doing nothing but farming to get him kitted out the way I wanted. I consider $12.50 (what I paid) a not altogether unfair price given that I can now play content that I want to play instead of spending months grinding the same mission(s) over and over again.

Too bad the Flower Path Aura wasn't on sale.
And Unbreakable Constraint because of some big science words my therapist uses that I don't really understand! But it has something to do with my mom, I know that much. I'll ask her about it when she brings me my grilled cheese and gets me ready for my bath.
