Yeah, I'm really bummed about this.
Growing up as a white kid in the 80s, the Beastie Boys played a HUGE part in me getting into hip-hop at a young age. I also used to drum along with Licensed To Ill when I first started playing -- I learned tempo and control by matched the programmed loops and groove by matching the sampled Led Zeppelin tracks.
To paraphrase one of the Beasties' later songs, there's too many rappers and one less MC.
