Purple sets at market now!
I would feel so good about myself if I ensured that someone got to spend an extra day running an AE farm before being harvested for organs. More importantly, I'd be supporting the people who put him there.
You are absolutely correct of course. It's all about the money; my concern is that by selling purple enhancements, NCSoft is entering a niche where they are not competitive on price, and have to gain market share by creating artificial barriers to entry such as banning players who buy from other companies.

I haven't bought any, but I'll have to examine the possibility. I can buy a set for less than 1 hour of overtime at work. I can't make that much inf in game in an hour. It's probably going to be more efficient to just work extra. Good thing I like my job

(Plus for me, I tend to accumulate a lot of inf just *playing the game*, which I'm going to do anyways. Your comparison only works perfectly if you consider "making inf in game" and "working overtime" to both be the same value on the leisure vs work spectrum)

At this point I just do not see any difference between selling purple sets on the market and them just selling INF so a player can buy sets in game that are not listed on the market yet or just selling a Power leveling service. Heck while they are at it they might as well take custom orders for your choice of AT and how you want it slotted and with what sets. All they need to do is take a mids build and have it auto build the toon for them.
All they are doing now is just slowly selling off the farm. Might as well just kick it into high gear and go all out and be done with it.
I cry DOOOOMMM honestly

Sarcasm? On MY Internet?
It's more likely than you think.

However to compare people being able to convert their real money into an account bound Purple to people being able to convert real money into ingame money which is not account bound is a flawed view. As would be comparing being able to buy XP boosts to buying a powerleveling service. This is like saying selling matches means they may as well sell us nuclear reactors since both generate energy.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
Except that you can be permanently banned from the game if caught buying or selling in-game items for real life money.
Losing $12.50 once is a lot cheaper than losing the near $1000 I've spent on my account over the last 8 years. Plus that money actually goes somewhere I want it to go (Paragon Studios), rather than funding Chinese gangs or prisons. |
A friend of mine emailed himself a lot of money and lost it. When he contacted customer support, they told him they had records of him dealing with RMTers.
He just never responded and he was never banned.
I've also had one girl accidently slip that she buys inf all the time in front of a GM, and they didn't care.
I've actually never heard of anyone banned from buying it, and I can tell you the majority of PvPers did back in the day. I can only name 3 PvPers who never have, that includes me. That excludes a couple kids I know in the 10-13 range who have used it too.
Racist comments against Jewish people or comments of anything about the holocaust pretty much results in a perma-ban within 24 hours though. I've seen that countless times.

PvP Redux is discontinued, for obvious reasons. Thanks to everyone who helped and joined.
Anyone hink they should follow the diablo 3 market. Buy and/or SELL in game items for real money. Sell all those Purples you have stock piled for real cash =p
I don't think it's a healthy idea... but i wanted to throw it out there.
Check out this!!!! http://www.youtube.com/user/LastRoninCoH/featured
I have nearly 2000 purples. I like this plan. I can't quit my day job, but it would be a nice wad of cash.
Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.
I've moved on to Diablo 3, TopDoc-1304
Not always the case.

I'm VIP, I'm lvl 50, why does it tell me I cannot access the area of the paragon market that sells purple IO sets?
This area of the Store does not contain anything for your character at this time. This could be due to one of several reasons including:
Your character does not meet the correct requirements (class, level, etc).
Your account status may already grant access to this category's offerings.
As your character advances, offers may become visible. New offers are always being added to the store. Please check back often.

@Roderick
They need to just unleash the Kraken and sell them all on the market now.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
Oh good, so I'm not an idiot, nor do I have a bug. Woot Woot! Thanks!

Would be nice to be able to use power boosters on rare/purple recipies bought thru Shop/Paragon Market. Was a waste of good points to get and have them not treated the same way as ones bought/earned thru Wentworths/Black Market. Also, cutting price in half would help sell more as alot of us have multiple toons.

People pursuing game achievement outside the structure of the game undermine the business model. The whole microtransaction movement can be seen as accepting the reality gold farmers can't be stopped, so they should be subverted. But engaging the black market in 'race to the bottom' pricing is pointless. The price of a billion inf is a fraction of what it was before my hiatus- given 'workers' with zero protections that can be endlessly exploited, there is no practical bottom to that market.
*rolleyes*
Especially when said services undermine the competitive foundation and thus continuing viability of the games they service.
