Game of Thrones ALL BOOK SPOILERS (Up to Dance with Dragons)

Pretty sure Talisa is exactly what she seems: a newly invented character to replace Jeyne. I have no idea why they didn't make her Westerosi. Maybe they wanted to fill in some background on Volantis or Essos in general.

Pale Mare= Plague
Kraken= Victarion
Dark Flame = Moqorro
Lion=
Griffon=Connington
Sun's son=Prince Quentyn
Mummers Dragon=
Perfumed Seneschal=??

If the Lion equals Tyrion, why is he grouped in this with Connington like Victarion and Moqorro. Of course, if Aegon is the mummer's dragon why is he not grouped with Connington?

Is there another Lion running around the eastern lands? For that matter who the hell is that Quaithe lady?

I have no idea.
Tyrion is the Lion. He's grouped in with Connington because he was traveling with him during the time the propechy was made. As such, it made sense to group them. After Tyrion was captured by Jorah and Connington's group discovered how late they truly were, they met up with the Golden Company and sailed west instead of east.

However, the prophecy being spoken like that makes it unlikely that Tyrion is the mummer's dragon, since it's listed as a different person.

Of course, I don't know why Dany listens to that woman anyways. It seems like by not trusting anyone, she's pretty much screwed herself.

Screwed herself? She has at least one adolescent dragon, she's regained the ability to bear a child, and she's about to get her khalisar back... she's making out pretty good!

Is that what the last scene of Dance is supposed to mean? I thought it was meant to signify that she was about to be captured and gang-****ed by a group of raiders, just based on the way the story has gone up to that point. (I'm honestly not trying to be snarky; I'm just surprised to see it interpreted so positively.)

I got the same impression as Mental Giant. She'd lost sight of being Khaleesi and here was her chance at getting it all back and getting back on track.

That is what would have happened, if they hadn't seen her riding the dragon. I believe that now they will truly see her as the Mother of Dragons and therefore worthy of respect.

If I misread, and they didn't see the dragon, then perhaps your scenario will play out... until one of the dragons happens by and roasts her assailants alive.

Unless theres something to the contrary Im going to assume Lyanna ran off with Rhaegar, Im sorry...was abducted by....shortly after that tourney. She just didnt have time to make it back home and the whole thing to start.

I know thats all nitpicky so if anyone points out a flaw I will give-over. Im not interested in defending it.

I always assumed the Lion was Tyrion, but Tyrion does have that one uncle( Gerion I think), who went missing while heading to Valyria, who may or may not be dead

Blackwater tonight! Woot! A George written episode. I'll likely be posting right after. Can't wait!

The grand irony is that George got back into fiction because he hated being told that his screenplays were too expensive to shoot. Then they made a show based on his unfilmable series, and they stick him with the most epic episode!

Can't wait either!

Yay! Blackwater!

1. Green wildfire! Squeeeeeee! Great visual FX.
2. Bronn is a Bada$$
3. Stannis is a Bada$$
4. The Hound is a fire hating cut people in half Bada$$.
5. Tyrion is (of course) a MF'ing Bada$$.
6. Podrick is a Bada$$. I literally yelled "Poderick!" when he speared that soldier.

Cersei was the typically horrible person that she is.

A great Sansa episode. Sansa Stark? I'd say more like Sansa Snark. Good to see her growing up.

Just my initial thoughts. Will talk more later.

Please tell me that the Tyrion Lanister didn't die at the end I just finished watching the episode and was hoping that this wasn't the case he's one of my favorite characters. I didn't see him in next weeks preview either..

On that note I really hate King Joffrey he's pompus and scared!

Chrome, since you are in the book spoilers thread I'll assume you don't mind spoilage. Never fear, Tyrion is fine (scarred, but fine). Much much more of his story to go. Besides he's George's favorite character and the one most like himself. Tyrion ain't goin' anywhere anytime soon.

Agreed. Nothing like having high expectations and then having them exceeded by sheer awesomeness. GRRM helming + HBO = an episode worth every extra dollar in the budget.

Looking forward to the House of the Undying - but most of all, I am even more confident that the Mayans should adjust their calendars to let GRRM wrap things up. Even if he requires a decade. I hope he doesn't require a decade. No pressure, George.

Rewatching on HBO GO. If you haven't watched an episode with the interactive features and you like stuff like directors commentary on DVDs you really should check it out. If you have HBO you can access GO. It's pretty awesome.

Excellent episode, lived up to expectations but...

No song for the Hound?

Posted

After a rewatch:

It's great to see they are setting up the importance of "The Rains(Reynes) of Castamere". That song will be haunting once the RW happens.

It's great how they played up the differences in kingly responsibilities between Stannis and Joffrey. It's also nice they are showing the difference between Joff and Tommen.

I don't think I need to sing Dinklage's praises here. There is only one person on the planet that can be Tyrion and he's got the job. Perfect. And finally they give him his ax!

Sansa's story is taking the right turn and Sophie Turner is really becoming a great little actress.

The Hound shines this episode as he shines in that portion of the book as well. Can't wait for the future Hound/Arya dynamic to come.

But I think the real winner of the episode is Lena Headey and Cersei. She kills this performance. I hated watching her in the Keep because it shows so well what a horrible person she is. On second watch it was wonderful, because of what kind of a job Headey is doing. You really get the sense of her unraveling and becoming all the things she hated about Robert. Loved that they showed how Sansa behaves more like a queen than the self preserving Cersei. And the final scene on rewatch with her telling the story to Tommen was a master class in acting.

This episode is the perfect encapsulation of why the book series has captured so many readers. It's thrilling, surprising, scary and complicated. It's never dumbed down. This episode is as fine an episode of television that anyone is likely to see for a long time. I just hope that the same team GRRM and Neil Marshall are allowed to do the RW. It's a must.

I have heard that maybe it was too "romantic" of a scene with an actress that is clearly underage at this point and would have been more creepy than effective. Romantic in quotes as he holds a knife to her throat while she sings. I think some viewers would be put off. They got the point of the scene across without making it icky.

(Not necessarily my opinion on the matter, though)

My guess, George wrote it, but something had to be cut and like I said the scene played out the important points.

Nope he's not dead, he has a whole lot more story
I don't think I'm ruining much here
-In the book he loses half a nose out of the deal, based on what I saw, it looks like he'll just have a wicked bad scar, which I'm fine with, and would understand here

-Also, kind of like what we saw at the end, somehow he ends up not getting credit here

Character list for Season 3 is out, and...

WE HAVE REEDS!

– Jojen Reed; Meera Reed: A teenage brother and sister duo with special insights.

We also have:

– Shireen: Stannis’ daughter.

10 points to MM for calling that one... I was sure she was gone!

We also get the Blackfish and Edmure Tully.

Woohoo!

Not surprised about Shireen.
Kind of surprised (pleasantly) about the Reeds.
Edmure and the Blackfish very surprised. I thought they'd just decided to ditch the Tully's.

And can't wait for Thoros and Beric.

Nice!!!

I don't think you could do the Red Wedding properly without Edmure.

My guess is we're going to have some action at Riverrun, which should be a nice change of scenery.
