You'd be VERY hard-pressed to destroy one of them. I've had one of their originals (what's the XT now) for roughly a decade. They're tough as hell.

The GS (a cheaper version made from injection-molded plastic) is roughly $15. The XT (which would be preferable) is $25.

Note: The newer ones are a little different than what I have now. The new versions are a bit less slick (but don't warp the way my original did). But if you take a little Pledge to the surface first thing, it's perfect.
I also recommend Ratpadz.

However, right now I have a "metal" (coated metal) surface from Allsop. Thing is tough as nails. Can't tell you the crap it's been through and you can't even see a scratch or dent on it.

Well, here is mine. I couldn't get all of my action figures in, as they go to the ceiling of the room. I collect this version of DC action figures, which even though carried by Walmart and K-Mart are harder to find. My wife tends to order them for me from the internet, and sadly not at the $15 price of the department stores.

The whole of the room is dedicated to my geekdom. With shelves of novels and comics behind me, and boffer weapons in the corner. This is truly my home within our house.

I'm fairly sure it was from Argos about five years ago. A quick look online shows they have nothing even close to the same thing anymore.

Yeah, I know. CoH is sadly Vert- rather than Hor+. I'm not sure it's an engine limitation as such, more that the Devs simply didn't design it to render unconventional resolutions. (I guess they can't be blamed for that as Eyefinity was in its very infancy at the time.)

As an example; Skyrim's engine doesn't render ultra-wide resolutions but as my desktop background on my photo shows, it can be made to.

I just wish they would devote some time to it. Tellingly, WoW was given Eyfinity support natively in an update and it's almost the same age as CoH. I know Paragon Studios won't do it. I just wish they would. With the cost of multimonitor set-ups falling all the time, it's getting less and less the domain of the enthusiast.

I guess ATI should get off their butts and persuade developers its worth the effort.

It's almost MAY!! Where the heck is it still snowing, do you live in the Arctic Circle or something?!? (alternately, southern hemisphere is getting close to snow season...)

my cellphone's not very good at taking pics like this but that's Morena in the background, a lineage 2 dark elf figure in front, some dice, mechs, starships, a pony, and some lego men in front, the remote to my room fan (which is quite nice), my solar powered wireless keyboard, this thread on screen to the left and the creation kit to the right. note the scary eyes I gave my old monitor. I just recently got this new monitor to the left, which is 3d compatible.

you might also notice the lobster beanie baby, the "Earthrise" wallpaper on the wall, and the "Caution: gets kind of warm" sticker, which came from the guys behind wondermark.

Your photo is dark probably because your screens are too bright relative to the room lighting which caused your phone camera to under expose the shot. Try either turning the screens off or have them display less white space. Unless, of course, if your room is that dark normally. If so, how is that solar powered keyboard working out for you?

As though! If you don't have polarized shades, you won't be seeing rocks until you've smashed your paddle on 'em. You'd be silly to use nice ones though because your dog might flip the canoe.

Party and PleaseRecycle are my kind of people!!! PleaseRecycle because you apparently live in my DREAM LOCATION...up in the woods somewhere!!! (WHAT a view you get everyday!) and Party because I LOVE me some darkness!!! I have the light on in my picture, but normally play in complete darkness.

Zyphoid...that's a HUGE collection you have there!!! Any XMen by chance?

New computer arrived TODAY and am waiting on a buddy of mine to help me set everything up! Picture of the new dual-setup coming sooooon!

This is what my computer setup looked like about a year ago.

It still kinda looks like that, but since then I've replaced the motherboard, the CPU, the RAM, and hard drives and the video card, the PSU and probably a lot of other things.

Soon enough I will be getting a new case, and a better CPU, a new operating system, even more RAM, and probably a lot of other things.

This is how you do it when you're like me and you can assemble your own computer, but you never have enough money to buy all that stuff at once, so you have to buy it a piece at a time.

Dude, that keyboard was made in 1996, and it still works without any problems! The plastic is hard enough that the keyboard could be used as a makeshift weapon, and it would still work after that!

So... yeah! I loves my clicky keyboard!

Well....it's here!! New Alienware has arrived and it's setup! Was surprised to see Skyrim AND CoH running on ULTRAMODE!! SO happy with my purchase right now. I'm FLOORED at the size of it...it's literally the size of an XBox or PS3. Compare it to the Alienware I purchased 6 years ago and am using now and WOW....that's quite a difference. The performance they packed into that tiny thing is unreal.

So, on the left you will see the new Alienware...complete with the big screen. And, on the right you will see the "older" Alienware that will be used as my secondary. I'll have my main character that I'm focused on at the moment playing on the left side (new one) and the right side will be reserved for my other account or, perhaps, someone who wants to come over and play!!

Future upgrades: First and foremost I have GOT to get one of those corner desks. I want a flat one...about waist high, but fits down one wall and through the corner (as we've seen in some of the previous posts). That will REALLY free up my gaming space. Right now I'm cramped into one desk that's built for ONE computer. Secondly, and perhaps even more importantly, the tv in this room NEEDS an upgrade! I currently have that tiny one (above my bigger monitor), but it's got to be replaced. It's great for keeping up with a Clipper game or watching an episode of King Of Queens whilst playing CoH, but it is NOT a tv that you'd want for viewing entertainment. Currently have a 70 inch flatscreen in the living room and a 50 inch flatscreen in the master bedroom, so I think it's only fitting that my gaming space gets an upgraded tv!!

Without further ado, here's the new setup: (SORRY for the cellphone picture quality!!)

And just for comparison purposes, here's the "pre-new-Alienware" setup:

Side note: most people have their power stips on the floor, but I like to keep mine on my desk or somewhere higher up. I don't like the idea of absent mindedly playing footsie with the power plugs and then getting shocked. Or even just accidentally kicking or hooking one of the plugs out of the strip and crashing something. As can be seen in most of the set ups in this thread, there's a lot of room behind the wide flat screen monitors. Getting the strip off the floor also makes the available sockets more convenient for when you want to temporarily plug in a charger or something.

My computer's power comes from a UPS that's situated to the left of the desk. The monitor and speakers are also plugged into it. The power strip which you can barely see in the picture delivers power for the router, a FiOS set top box, and a VHS VCR. Yes, I still have one of those.

I got mine in a little basket, so when i need to clean, just lift it up and vacuum. easy peasy!
Also, not sure what power plug you have that gets you shocked

My rigg is showing some of the assorted geek stuff in that room... and a small part of the shelves filled with comics.

You see (for the good eye)... the Sword of the Scorpion King, The Hellraiser Puzzlenox, Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl, a lightsaber...

Illuminated keyboard ofcourse.. I cant find my keys otherwise in the dark.

Before I moved down here (and before I purchased this side-power button APC strip) I had a kitty that found a good way to end my 4+hr PS2 RPG sessions. One casual walk behind the entertainment center and she got attention. Needless to say she also learned to FLY in the process.

Something like this?: http://pckeyboard.com/page/UltraClassic/UB40P4A

I'd been thinking of maybe getting a new keyboard from Unicomp, though I must admit I've been kind of swayed by the allure of certain other keyboards, like the ones that have backlit keys.
