After 4 year waiting to get a beast mastery power I will finally will be able to created the Hunter hero of my dream. Is so amazing to finally see animal in this game outside of gull and some shark, I will roll one even tho the set is lacking(So ppl say) The fact of controlling a pack of wolf/lion to eat your enemies is freaking AWESOME!!!! The set will get fix if it lacking.

But it piss me off that now CoX is selling this new set instead of giving it to VIP.Alway tho this would be for free. First i know that the new selling item the give have boost the game economic, It's good, but it worrie me that MM, the AT will less primary in the whole game can't have The primary that we have request from the first day MM was created.

It's to much to ask to give us this after the long wait? It would be like a token of kindness to give us MM soo a requested Primary.

All in all, even thoug I don't agreed with this capitalis aproche that only allow ppl with money to play with the new stuff. I will buy it as a act of kindness from a good customer that enjoy Paragon Studio work and hope that his money, to be use to bring quality enterteiment for FREE in the future.

What do you think about?

While I think it would be nice for the VIP restricted classes to get powersets for free since we already pay to access them, it is a business and can't really fault them for charging for it.

Thankfully I got my points today and had some leftover from before.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

I completely understand the sentiment and I can't say that I disagree with it, but they've chosen this business model and I've come to accept it and understand how they will go about these things pretty accurately now.

The good thing is that you can use the points per month that you get from being a VIP.
I know it's not the same, but it is something on the positive side.

From their business side of it... It could be that Animal Henchmen never would have happened without the added revenue from the new business model. Just some more positive slants to chew on.

I've basically stopped buying powersets and only buy costume packs these days. The last powerset I bought was Beam Rifle ... and I've never been tempted to actually make a Beam Rifle anything character. At this point I'm "glad" that Beast Mastery is going to be the "pay for" powerset rather than Staff Melee, since I actually want to play Staff Melee and don't care all that much about Beast Mastery.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

I think it's ridiculous seeing as MMs have fewer primary choices than all other ATs at this point.

Level the field first, then charge for new stuff.

I complained about this with Darkness Control and Dark Melee and was happy to see that both would be 'free' to VIPs as Dominators had fewer combinations available than all other ATs.

Why should some ATs have a much wider selection of free sets than others? Especially if you now have to pay to play an MM. Imagine if you were a F2P player? You'd have to first pay to unlock MMs, then pay to play a set. Ridiculous.

Please buff Ice Control.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but Staff Fighting will also be pay for.

Personally I've "bought" all the powersets with my stipend alone, because those are what matter to me most. I've only made a single payment outside my subscription, to pick up some costumes (1200 points worth).

The way I look at it is the stipend isn't really having to pay extra for the items, it's just giving me some choice about what is and isn't included free to VIPs these days - if I wasn't interested in Beast Mastery I'd be able to pick something else to be free instead.

Funnily enough, that made me giggle... is that wrong?

Unfortunately it's a key part of any "free" to play model to charge people for stuff as often as possible.

Whaaaat? If it's 800 points (TEN BUCKS!) like Beast Mastery is, I won't be getting that one, either. I was really disappointed with Street Justice, and that was only 400!

I think you'll be even more disappointed when you find out you actually paid 800, not 400 points, for Street Justice.

I was a little disappointed also, but I had the points so I bought it.

Sure glad I didn't spend them on that over-priced Leprechaun pet!

I understand that Staves is also going to cost 800 points so definitely not getting Leprechaun!

What really gets me is the fact that MM is either paid for or unlocked with VIP. Should it not also stand to reason that any primary ability under the MM AT would also be the same? What moron in a suit and tie decided that they would screw their paying player base? Do you really think that this game is doing that well that you can turn your back on subscribers? You are already free to play, the next stop is Woody's Bug Zapper (tm) wake up and quit ignoring where your pay check comes from.

Beast Mastery required more resources to create than most other power sets. They had to make an entirely new skeleton for it and everything. Not only that, but the only power sets we've ever gotten for free were with an Issue release, and Beast Mastery was not part of an Issue release. So yes, you have to buy, and no, it's not that big of a deal. Considering before Freedom launched we'd never have gotten Beast Mastery and you'd be laughed at by the playerbase for suggesting it, I'd say it's worth the money if you want it.

What do you think about?

Well, how many new MM sets did we get under the old system? If I remember correctly, within my first 4 years here, MM only got ONE really new primary set Thug and Demon is part of the Rogue package. That's two Mastermind new sets within 4 years.

Or you can gather your VIP points or pay a little bit extra to have something new to play within a year? I forgot when Demon came out but it must be within 1.5 year?

The new system allows us to play something new much faster. That's what I think and I like it.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Your logic is sound but highly flawed. Nothing changes the fact that it is a powerset for a VIP restricted class (I still say you should not even be able to purchase them). As a paying subscriber there is absolutely no reason I should be forced to spend points on a powerset..any powerset, period. Frills and Fluff, sure but nothing that is a part of the game itself.

Definitely. That's just an objective fact.

...and this part is purely subjective opinion. In fact, considering the sudden explosion of new powersets as soon as they started charging for them, I would say there is a very good reason to charge for them: namely, we get way more powersets that way. If they didn't charge for Beast Mastery, we wouldn't even HAVE a Beast Mastery set for you to be complaining about.

Good news! You're not forced to. Nobody is holding a gun to your head.

Pre-Freedom, how often did we get new powersets? A couple every few months? Sometimes? How many have we gotten since Freedom went live? Beam Rifle, Time Manipulation, Titan Weapons, Street Justice, Darkness Control, Darkness Affinity, Dark Assault, Beast Mastery, Staff Fighting -- none of this is even counting powerset proliferation, which while not as resource-intensive as fully new sets does take time and effort. So that's 9 new powersets, in 6 months. And you'd better believe the devs have even more amazing stuff coming down the pike.

With Freedom you already get more for your sub, the only way you're getting more than THAT is if you pay, or just wait until you have the points to spend on it. You can wait. It's not the end of the world if you don't grind a Staff Fighting Scrapper to 50 immediately.

Who is forcing you to buy it?

You get VIP points for a reason. Not only you get free character transfer tokens as VIP (it used to cost money), you now have the options to buy stuff that you want. You also get Signature Story arcs for free.

Not all the sets cost points. The two new Dark/Dark are free for VIP.

We get new stuff way faster right now. I am not as patient as you are. I want new stuff quicker.

Seriously, did any of you thought Beast Mastery was even on the list 3 months ago? I know I didn't. It was leaked out. We were totally shocked when Beast was on beta (unfinished).

And really, under the old system, we get new set like once every 4-5 months and sometimes longer. And the new set may not be the one you want to play.

I know at least 3-4 people that did not buy Beast Mastery. They just don't play MM. They are saving up points for Staff later.

The new system gives us new stuff so much more often and you have the OPTION to buy what you want to play. Isn't this better than waiting for years to have another new MM primary?

Oh, and I did not buy Titan Weapon because I only play Stalker and Stalker doesn't get TW. I certainly didn't feel I am FORCED to purchase it just because it's new.

You want Beast Mastery, then you can spend the points.
