Most relaxing archtype/build
Depends on what you mean by 'relaxing'.
For maximum relaxing, take a */Force Field Defender and team a lot. Note: Masterminds are not relaxing, and require constanct maintenance and attention to your pets. Much more so if you bump up your mission difficulty. You can get just as much "bang for your buck" combat-wise, and less stress/more relaxation, by taking an AoE-based melee Archetype.
For Solo relaxing time, I suggest a highly survivable character with decent attacks. In general, the highest survivability belongs to Tankers. Pick a Primary that has good single target and AoE attacks, like Fire Melee for instance, and a very survivable secondary, like Willpower or Super Reflexes (neither of which has clickies to worry about).
Hope that helps.
American Dawg, Starblaze, Neanderthal Joe, Shining Dawn, Tokamak Dragon, Stinger Incarnate, Burning Tyger, Dover Tornado, Big Roach, Dark Paladin, Archmage Wylde, Kings Row Hornet, Prancing Deer
Avogadro, Science Lord
Edgar Nightcraft, Doc Cicada, Chupa Macabre, Dr Forchtenstein, Blood Shrew
My stalkers are far and away the most relaxing characters for me to play. I have a Claws/Nin and a KM/EA and would recommend both equally (and I expect my baby Elec/Ice will be just as fun). If you're in the mood to smash everything on the map, go ahead. In the mood to pick your battles or just stealth to the objective? Can do that too. Don't bother to check what's around the next corner; they're (probably) not going to see you, and if they do, they're probably not going to hit you. If you do get into trouble, run like a bunny, hide, come back and finish the job.
I'm mostly talking about solo here, but now that I think about it holds true on teams too. You won't be expected to hold aggro, or to heal or buff or debuff (although brief AS fear effect is nice); just keep dealing that damage.
Relaxing is a really slippery word in this context... I usually find a mature Scrapper fairly relaxing mentally as I just punch the guy in front of me in the junk, then repeat until the spawn's dead. Plenty of durability so I don't have to sweat my own survival and limited team responsibilities to worry about.
Since I typically play support characters like Tanks, Controllers, Corruptors, Defenders and the like anytime I'm playing a pure damage toon I don't have to worry about buffing/debuffing/aggro as much so I can just take it easy and only worry about the bad guy in front of me.
COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes
I have a ton of fun with my Plant/Thorn Dominator. I just made him this month, and he's already level 46. That's a personal record for progression for me, he's just that fun to play. He almost hit 50 before getting the Patroller badge lol.
As far as stressful activities he doesn't buff himself/allies, or have toggle debuffs, or heals. You kinda have to use Seeds of Confusion to enter the mob, but after that you can buttonmash and win. All the thorn powers in the set do good Def Debuff(with the primary Plant stuff doing hold/immob. I rarely use the aoe longrech hold, but it's a nice failsafe.), and I know you're a midsplanner, so throw in those Achilles, and it's just a fun ride.

I'd put my money on either one of the more passive support sets (Force Field and Sonic come to mind) on a Defender or Corrupter,
OR
a Scrapper, Stalker, or Tanker running one of the more passive armor sets (Willpower comes to mind, as it has no clicks on Scrapper/Tanker) and one of the simpler melee sets (avoid Dual Blades, Street Justice, Staff Fighting, and Titan Weapons as they all have extra mechanics to worry about).
Those are the choices that will maximize the experience of "Turn on my buffs and toggles, then hit whichever attack is currently recharged". It's the simplest gameplay you can get.
Do note, however, that the Defender/Corruptor will have trouble soloing with those support sets.
For quite a while when I wanted to just jump in and beat things up I'd jump on my DM/Regen scrapper. I'd toggle up and wade in and not have to worry about much except Alpha strikes.
When Shields were released, I started a BrSw/Shield scrapper and did the same as I'd done with my DM/Regen.
It really helped me get rid of frustrations and just mindlessly beat things up without having to pay much attention to health or endurance.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
A Mastermind fits the bill if you don't turn the difficulty up. Your minions can shred a +0/1 mission without keybinds. Pretty easy.
A stalker could be relaxing if you do a lot of glowie missions. Just stealth to the end, grab the glowie, pick off the boss, collect rewards.
Beyond that, a Brute should be fairly simple. Tough enough to take a beating designed for a tanker, but can met out damage on par with a scrapper.

I am looking for input on the most relaxing character to take from first level to the incarnate trials. I just spent the last four months experimenting with builds and really just want a fun cruise through the cities. Any thoughts are appreciated cause I know you folks got the experience and opinions.

Dark Assault has a heal, and tohit debuffs, and a power boost equivalent to increase the duration of your controls.
On top of that, Domination itself is good for a full refill of your endurance bar. Even during leveling when its not perma that's still a good thing.
Now, if you want to relax by punching things over and over again while they crunch beneath your shoes relatively ineffectually, then I would suggest SR/DM tanker. You'll be basically perma-eluded quickly, almost unhittable outside of tohit buffs, and have a heal built into a decent DM attack. Heal + High Defense = melee monster. You'll basically be Unicron smashing through most normal solo content, and you'll be a decent-to-great tanker in most teamed content.
If your idea of relaxation is to have at least two brain cells active while the rest of your mind replays the Cosby Show in your head, and you want to level kinda fast, then I would give Katana/Electric Brute a look. Brutes tend to level faster with Fury in general, Electric has good resistances and almost unlimited endurance, and Katana has divine avalanche which means you'll have a ton of melee and lethal defense basically for free. You'll be hard to kill with DA + Ela, and have good offense with katana and unlimited endurance and fury. You'll have to think slightly more than the previous two suggestions, but not too much, and as long as you don't scale your missions too ridiculously, you should be fine even if you accidentally daydream about Lisa Bonet and forget to hit Energize.

Robots/Force Field Mastermind
People may tell you "they aren't relaxing, so choose a defender", but they fail to realize that the mastermind needs very few buttons, while the defender will have to attack using more, and more often.
And also, masterminds are not hard. They're only hard if you choose a combination that isn't very good, especially if you do not know the simple basics such as "don't let the pets get far away".
Robots/Force Field is always called "easy mode" for a reason.
Edit:
My most relaxing character, other than the bots/ff mastermind, is actually an Arachnos Widow, Fortunata path.
They're just simple "toggle it up and blast away" characters, while being very survivable(especially with hover).
I agree with the Force Fields Defender. Toggle on your big bubble, target the tank and buble him, target a ranged character and bubble him. Whoever did not get your bubbles...well, too bad :P
Blast away with the ranged set of your choice. Recast bubbles every 4 mins.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.
I stopped playing my bots/ff MM because I couldn't stay awake. A friend has one at 50 and often when we duo'd he'd remark he just wandered into the mission, bubble a bit and zone out.
Personally, the one with a lot of survivability would be the most relaxing for me. Leading a team on a tank was a breeze; hit something, direct, hit. That was a nightmare on a sonic bubbler, so it depends on what you will be doing.
I would say if you want to stealth stuff that doesn't mean stalker; the stealth pools aren't as good as hide but sticking that on a def would work with SS.

Yeah gotta echo the Bots/FF MM comments. During a Rikti invasion you need JUST enough effort to keep the game from logging you out. Unless you invested in Task/Strike Force mode, in which case, feel free to use your sleep aid medications responsibly.
It's not how many times you get knocked down that count. It's how many times you get up.
I'm all into the relaxed play mode. Spines/WP Scrapper is my fave followed by a Bots/Traps or Bots/Storm MM. The Spines/WP is the first one out to play every day for a nice easy romp. Only bad thing is that it doesn't really hit its stride until level 32 when you get Throw Spines although getting Ripper at level 28 helps a lot. Up til then it might be a bit of a struggle but afterwards, they are a lot of fun.
My Energy Melee/Super Reflexes fits this description. He's pretty well IOed so he doesn't get touched much these days and Energy Transfer and Total Focus already look like you're attacking in slow motion, ha ha...
I guess I'd have to say, based on other responses here, that a relaxed toon is one that can avoid getting hurt too often.
Bots/FF is so easy it's stressful. You literally have nothing to do but watch your little team of softcapped blasters run around and slowly pummel everything to death. It's very powerful and very easy. Not sure if that's what you want though.
Note: Masterminds are only a good choice for this kind of thing if you like to play on +2 or lower.
At +3, your Tier1 pet powers are at 30% effectiveness, Tier2s are at 48%, and Tier3 is at 65%.
At +4, your Tier1 pets are at 15%, Tier2s are at 30%, and Tier3 is at 48%.
On top of that, there is also the matter that fighting +5s reduces base ToHit to 30%, and +6s reduces it to 20%. Being attacked by a +5 enemy gives it a an Accuracy modifier of 1.5; at +6, it gets a 1.5 Accuracy modifier and +5% ToHit.
Oh, and the same mechanic that serves to make your pets impotent on those higher difficulties also makes them take ludicrous amounts of damage when hit (a tier1 mastermind pet being attacked by a mob that is +4 to you is taking +66% damage, for example).
In short: If you like fighting on amped-up difficulty modes, play something that doesn't depend on pets.
