Back in the day it was fairly common for most adults to shorten the name to just Ninja Turtles. Kind of like how a lot of older non-gamer folk used to use Nintendo as a catch-all for anything related to video games, or the phenomena of anyone who'd say Poh-kee-man.

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

Mr. Bay please won't you kindly suck an egg.

Oh yes the first TMNT movie cost only 13.5 million and made just over 200 million worldwide. That's a tough act to follow especially when your making them aliens....what a muppet Bay is.
Didnt the transformers movies make that in just the US alone? Not adjusting for inflation of course but considering there was a martial arts craze at the time the first tmnt came out that kinda evens out somewhat

Sounds about right for Transformers but you have to remember a few things. TMNT cost 13.5 to make I don't even wanna guess what Transformers cost to make. TMNT came out when matinees were $2.50 and evening shows like $5. Now movies like 3D which cost even more and what does it cost to get in theatres today I can't say haven't been in years. But I think about $10-$15.

Also like you said Martial Arts were the craze at the time like robots and zombies are now. I just do not see this movie doing well.

Gundam, Ironman, I robot, Star Wars, Futurama etc etc etc. Now not all based purely on robots but they have robots in them or mech suits or what have you and all very popular in current pop culture.

That's fine, just don't call it teenage mutant ninja turtles if they aren't mutants, turtles, or ninjas.

I wouldn't mind another attempt at a live action Gundam.

May there never be a live action Futurama. Animation it is and animation it must remain

"NINJA TURTLES

Yes, the title is correct. Michael Bay has revealed the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" remake will now simply be known as "Ninja Turtles." On the Shoot For The Edit forums, Bay commented on Paramount's decision to change the name and how it might affect the film.

"Paramount marketing changed the name," Bay said via forum post. "They made the title simple. The characters you all remember are exactly the same, and yes they still act like teenagers. Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in the movie. This script is being developed by two very smart writers, with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care very much about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance. Jonathan the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise. He's not going to let you down."

Opens Christmas 2013"

I've never found "just wait and see, I promise you'll love it" to be very reassuring.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

How hilarious is it that Comic Book Resources felt obliged to tone down Bay's all-caps shouting: "They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans." and "HE'S NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN." But the best part is that Bay shouts in all caps when he signs off as "MICHAEL". Perhaps he thinks that if he keeps hitting the caps lock key, nobody will notice that he doesn't possess a very well-tuned sense of humor.

That doesn't bode well for a remake of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which began, after all, as a straight-faced mashed-up parody of trends in comics at the time—the adolescents, the mutants, the martial artists, and the funny animals all in one package.

At least George Lucas only "re-imagines" his own work.
Bay seems set to molest any franchise he can get his hands on.

If there is one thing I HAVE to do before I die (before #83: lunge wildly at the Pope...) is to find Michael Bay. Get him alone.
AND PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE.

For being an affront to everyone with half a brain and all creatives EVER.
Maybe get a dead turtle and beat him with that, too, just to add insult to injury....

You could get Uwe Boll to do it.

Surely they can afford to have a suitable story written up or find a popular science fiction novel from the past 200 years that fits the bill here.

I understand that books and comics don't necesarily translate well to the big screen and require "tweeking", but they aren't just changing a fundemental part of the lore: they're really screwing up the title too. Why even have turtles? Make them cute puppies or happy pandas. Or even go with these.....

Regardless I don't like his movies and have no plans on watching this under any name.

If they could make a decent live action TMNT in the early 90's, that stayed fairly faithful to canon, I see no flipping reason why it needs to be mucked with. Other than the 'cause I can' ego trip.

I just had a mental picture of Bay in court being prosecuted for molestation.

Prosecutor: Bumblebee please point out to the court exactly where Mr. Bay molested you.

Why...is this attrocity being allowed to happen? Why would he even WANT to change such a fundamental part of it? Why pick up a project if you aren't even going to keep the baseline of it intact?

Michael Bay is descending into Ewe Boll territory now. Maybe he'll have a freak accident, realize he was wrong, and fi-...no way in !@#$.
