Issue 22 feedback - should get a smile out of the devs.

My general feedback and overview is below but the feedback of topic is in bold.

Many know that I am by no means a dev fanboy, I'm usually the opposite. Although I do think they are nice people, I have mostly always felt like they were not the right people for this game. Overall most of the issues have had atleast 1 thing that I liked over the years but in general I've always been pretty unhappy with the dev team. Our devs spent more time nerfing and balancing making many parts of the super hero mmo too similar to the common fantasy mmo and it really didn't go over well with folks. Then came the pvp nerf which was quite possibly the worst decision ever made since ED.

Things have slowly gotten much better since issue 16 (still waiting on power customization to be extended to powerpools/ancils) Going rogue was a nice update but still lacking since it only went to level 20. The incarnate trial updates were nice but left you with nothing else new to do unless you wanted to exemplar or do firstward. Firstward was a nice zone but it wasn't level 50 which was something we needed.

Finally the best update you guys have ever done issue 22. A true level 50 zone; all incarnate shifts, a solo incarnate path even if slower than trials. Its something else to do when you don't feel like or have the time to run trials. The storyline is great, reading the story as you do it, I've even stopped to read clues which is something I usually don't do. It does a better job making your character feel important in the games storyline than the rest of the game has so far. I liked the choices to not have help and earn a badge in some of those missions. The reaction you'd get from the npcs and the way how the story played out was nice.

The story was so well written it and this update is so much of a improvement I would almost say a completely different dev team had created it. Storyline wise, to me it's the best content since croatoa/faultline. (Those were some of my favorite storyarcs) Really the only thing better that could of been added was voice overs. Perhaps that's a city of heroes 2 feature? Unless zwillinger feels like voicing a bad guy (he seems like he would make a good villain voice)

Keep it up guys. If you can do all future updates with that many new story arcs the game will just become that much more enjoyable. I really enjoyed having solo options to do that didn't require me to exemplar. Getting to fully use and enjoy all my abilities in all of the content besides the incarnate trial was nice. And now we even have a place to do street sweeping at level 50+.

BIG plus one to this. I really enjoyed the arc and zone from start to finish. I felt the sense of urgency fighting Mot and equally i felt the satisfaction of kicking his butt. Bravo devs, well done.

This is my favorite issue since Striga. That's saying something! I adore the soloable Incarnate Path.

One thing though, this *should* be a true level 50 incarnate zone, but until it's level gated and VIP only it won't be.

I agree on the quality of the story but please, no voice-overs. Ever.

Well, they did say that they like to break into 2 or 3 "strike teams" these days and work on issues in parallel, so it's quite possible that a different writing team put DA together than the SSAs, or even First Ward.

As much as I hate to say things like "A team" and "B team", that's definitely what playing through DA feels like. Aside from some dumb typos that needed to be fixed in proofreading, the story is a lot more compelling than a lot of what I've seen lately.

Although non-VIPs can go there, they can't do any mission content there, not even teamed with VIPs.

Actually, I think they're all written by Dr. Aeon. I know he's the main writer for First Ward and Dark Astoria, and I've heard he was involved in the SSAs.

Dr. Aeon did the SSAs, but I think that First Ward was more the work of Protean.

I haven't done all of the arcs but based on what I've seen, pretty decent.

I like the new art in DA zone but we could have done without more cave mission maps. Seriously.

The incarnate trial is not that great. Easy enough to do but it is nothing special. It just seems like the devs couldn't think of anything interesting here and had to rush something out the door.

The DiB trial - great idea to add lower level trial stuff. As for the actual trial, again, nothing to write home about. I don't like how you get 'teleported' from section to section.

Most of i22 was decent but it would be nice to see something completely different and fresh. The recent stuff doesn't strike me as comic book like. However, thank goodness they didn't add another all-Praetoria issue...

What would be more comic book like?

Huh. Didn't know that. Suppose it should've been apparent. DA has relatively limited ambushes.

As for the complaint of not comicbooky... actually, there was a time in America when horror comics were more popular than superhero comics. Horror and the supernatural, including Lovecraftian horror has always had a place in comic books (which DA gets into at points. You respond by punching Cthulhu in the face). It's not all talking gorillas, after all.

I cancelled my account some time back because of how strongly I opposed the raid grind culture I felt was developing at the time. In my exit survey I said I would only come back if/when we got a non-trial Incarnate path (at that time the Devs had not actually confirmed it was ever coming).

Well when I saw that Issue 22 was live I put my money where my mouth is and came back to try it out. I have not regretted that decision. This is definitely a very well done Issue.

Another benefit is that while forming trials in DA we can run around and punch stuff while we wait for people to trickle in or alt. This makes waiting for a trial to start much more enjoyable. I really enjoyed the DA story line and think it is a solid home run from the Devs. I haven't run the new lower level story arcs, hope to hit those soon, but if they are DA quality I am really looking forward to them.
