You know you've been playing CoX for too long when...

You spend hours at a time reworking your SG base while ignoring the dishes in your real life sink.

You go to the fridge and think any of the following:
. . . It only holds thirty items? I need another fridge.
. . . I wish there was one of these to put in the base.
. . . *Mmm,* inspirations.

You refer to your boss as your "contact" and, after running back after the third random assignment, you wonder when they'll start their arc and why you still don't have their phone number.

When something is too high to reach, your first thought is Hover.

When the Pentagon briefing uses the phrase "air superiority," you think about how they would slot it.

While out shopping for new clothes, you first swing by City Hall to get your cape and aura unlocked.

You refer to your job as your 'Day Job' and wonder when you're going to get that badge for completing said 'day job'.

watching someones demorecord, and when your toon comes in view you hear him attack, followed by checking the sound, turning the sound off, and still hearing your toon attack.

When you go to the gym, hop on the treadmill and notice you're only going 8mph and think 'Dang, I need to slot for runspeed'.

Heck, even considering 8mph 'slow' probably means you've been playing too long.

I assign colors to co-workers based on their threat level... one day they shall all con gray... CRAP i gotta go, I have a purple behind me...

* you lose all your geek cred when you accidently refer to that pair of droids from Star Wars as "Nightstar and Siege"... then get back twice as much as before when you explain why...

* you stand outside your daughter's highschool screaming "Fusionette!" when she's late to the pick up spot...

* you figure you've made at least 400 entries on at least 36 "You know you've been playing CoX for too long when..." lists...

* you say cut scene dialog aloud the way some people do while watching "Rocky Horror Picture Show"...

* you refer to your purchase of a halloween costume as "making an alt"...

* you finish your work out on the Planet Fitness treadmill and start screaming "can someone give me a blue?!"

* you refer to your in-laws as "Malta Sappers"...

* you try to start legistlation in your town for the beat cops to carry assault rifles, grenade launchers and flame throwers to help "arrest" criminals...

* you attend a training class/seminar at work thinking you'll come out with new powers or at least an extra slot or three..

* on Veterans Day you proudly wear two buttons; one stating how many years you've played and one with "F2P" in a red circle with a line through it...

* to get out of taking it to the shop you tell your wife that your lurching, stalling vehicle is "working as intended"...

* ...but every time HER stuff acts up you suggest she fills out a bug report...

This is sad, but it really happened to me. I was playing a LOT last fall, and I would always be playing with friends while chatting with them on my friends voice chat server. I used push to talk, using my thumb to trigger the mic. I knew I was playing too much when, in response to a question my mom and cousin were asking me, I reflexively pushed down with my thumb about half a second before I spoke back. I did it several times during the conversation and I had to focus, in order to not do it.

Fortunately I was in the back seat of the car, so they couldnt see my horrified expression!

Anyway, being a true gamer, I merely treated the symptom. I switched from push-to-talk to voice trigger with a headset. Now I am once again unable to monitor my indulgence levels. Yay!

When you insist that everyone, including boss and spouse, refer to you by your global name.

You get impatient with having to walk around buildings instead of jumping over them.

Here's another from me...
Back in the days when I first started playing, I noticed (after a few weeks) that I was logging the same amount (if not more) hours in-game as I was at work. 40 hours of work each week and 40+ hours of CoH per week. Which leaves between 60 and 80 hours per week to do groceries, house cleaning, other hobbies and sleep.

* quick math *

168 hours per week (7 * 24)
- 45 hrs for work (and travelling)
- 4 hrs for groceries/shopping
- 2 hrs for house cleaning
- 2-4 hrs visiting parents
- 8 hrs for other hobbies (orchestra, movies, car)
- 60 hrs for CoH

...just about 47 hours per week left for sleeping...(that's about 7 hours per day)
Trust me when I say that I didn't get 6 to 7 hours of sleep each day. Usually it was less then 6. Especially during the weekend. I can even remember several weekends that I started playing a TF on saturday afternoon and was still fighting AV's on sunday morning.
And never noticed the sun setting.

Disturbing? Perhaps...but it still blows people's mind when I tell them that 5 years ago I was spending more time being a hero than I was at work.

And I'm frickin' proud of it!

So, "you know you've been playing to much CoX when..." you make more hours being a hero/villain than you are working at your real job.
