You seem to confuse Lore RP with my RP. All I ever offered in the Op was a short story using characters who actually exist within the game world, the fact I portray one on my server is 2ndary. That people choose to focus on it is thier choice. The fact they spew ignorance, which is what it is when they say I am pushing my own story on everyone rather then just sharing it as another possible way to view it.

Ive since even seen another suggestion using virtually the same story I give, just with the bigger main stream names like Numina and Infernal being the ones involved. Thats fine to I never said it isnt an equally valid view anywhere. What I did say was lore RP was my rp choice, and encourage others to embrace it as it creates a much smoother running RP world.

Let me put it this way Id rather have each player on the server embracing the role of various lore based names and concepts, then the endless string of super man or kryptonian knock offs who people frequently try to RP quite seriously. id rather have someone being Montague rather then someone make another " I am the best wizard ever from the best wizard family ever" running around.

When you try and make a character fit a predefined bit of lore it helps keep some order. sure one person might get to be Hero One, while another is percy. Since I see people often choose to RP very young and inexperianced characters like him id love to see a skilled RPer who has affection for him take up the role, and see what kind of insights he has into developing him as time goes on.

But if you really want to keep telling yourself that this all started with me trying to tell others HOW THEY HAVE TO PLAY OR THAT WHAT I SAID WAS THE END ALL BE ALL, then you are very much mistaken.

To be honest, no one may RP with me on Statesman Beyond (If I ever do play him, lol).

But I have better characters I play, such as Shadeknight.

I am, however, not a godmoder. I made the name on a whim and while feeling derpy. If it becomes something serious, then eh. Most likely won't though

All of this started because we called you on godmoding the game's lore. You response was to insult us, call our characters 'insignificant' and insist that Lore RP was 'superior' RP and that if you didn't do it, you didn't love the game.

You couldn't possibly have forgotten all that, right?

I weouldn't exactly label that player (the one with the Statesman name) as a godmodder off the bat because of whatever influence came over him, but there might be certian challenges that he may end up facing: the most immediate of which may involve the fact that the original Statesman character is still present in the game and will remain there until i23 is implemented.

Then, reiterate the "if the devs change canon..." bit.

If you dont use lore you dont love the game frankly you hate it and are trying to force it and everyone else playing it to break immersion. Its like meeting someone trying to RP an athiest. Godmoding REQUIRES a character implying he has control of other players or can easily defeat them just because. Since I never have even hinted at such a type of RP being my thing I find it odd to keep hearing that term thrown at me as I well know what it means and can assure you it requires certain things I never do.

The only reason I even use RP in the OP is so that it can be IGNORED by those who dislike RP to such an extent they may want to be able to just highlight the topic see RP stand out and not even read it. Since every RPer knows no other RPers RP matters to them unless they personally interact I am still baffled by the number of attacks. My arrogence certainly isnt a good reason since long before I started to post every one posting here has committed far more obnoxious posts in thier history.

And again Ill say it, ofcourse your characters are insignificant to strangers when they are completely made up bits of personal fiction. That is one of the BIG reasons for LORE RP, so a total stranger will recognize the name and go oh cool he is into so and so bit of lore, i am to ill go walk up and caht about some part of it I love to discuss.

That doesnt mean your character wont become recognized by my own character in time, but it means there is alot more time spent on just figuring out if there is even a reason for the characters to bother interacting.

For example I am not going to want to run with someone who tries to ignore the whole zeus and the greek gods really existed aspect to insist thier character is the great wizard who created the shadow shard and trapped the rularuu and banished the pantheon instead of Tielekku. Which I encounter at least one wizard type cahracter a day in D with almost that exact bio.

So who is worse a made up Im the guy who trapped the rul and bound the BP, or a guy choosing to portray a reckless immortal wizard who spends most of his time captured or hiding out in dusty libraries researching things who happens to be part of the game worlds lore in minor but fun ways?

I think I'm going to single out this one paragraph. It posits the notion that, in a world where all myths are true, then how can anyone be an atheist in that kind of world? Surely, in a universe with magic, there must be gods, right?

I'd argue that isn't necessarily so. Just because someone or something is more powerful than you are doesn't automatically mean that they deserve all your worship and prayer. In the CoH universe in particular, there seems to be this ancient pantheon of gods who created the universe and the magic within it, but it appears that even they are not all powerful. They seem to diminish when they are forgotten and not worshiped, and hang on by a celestial thread thanks to a small cult that still believes in their power.

Indeed, the Rikti are "atheists" in the sense that they destroyed all of their gods in their universe by deliberately ceasing to worship any of them, presumably disappearing in giant puffs of logic. Their gods are all dead, and so is all the magic in their world. Though it seems that magic from other worlds can be introduced there.

It might very well be a more rational point of view that, while there are clearly more powerful beings out there in a world like that of Primal Earth, and some of them even go so far as to call themselves gods, that doesn't mean that any one of them actually deserves that title, nor deserves to be so worshiped. Perhaps they are merely more powerful because they are much older and advanced than us, and they have managed to ascend to a higher plane of existence. Sound like any two TV shows that you know?

Why on EARTH would you think ANYONE here would willingly come interact with you after all the garbage you've spewed at them in this thread? Why would anyone in their right mind come to talk with a person who flat out states that all characters but Lore characters are invalid? Why would ANY SANE PERSON come and subject themselves to more insults and misguided snark from someone who CLEARLY looks down on the rest of the playerbase?

They wouldn't. I know several people in this thread won't. If anyone does, I feel sorry for them.

This is the part where I have to step in after just watching in the sidelines for maybe too long. After all, that is an attack to a lot of people just for not sharing your point of view.

The whole point of City of Heroes is freedom, not only because it was just branded into the name, but because the game itself has always been about creating the character you want, however you want it to be, being free to play the game however you want. Not only the devs don't enforce the lore on you, they even encourage you to play outside of it if so you choose with awesome tools such as Architect Entertainment.

Now, on what part of this do people who don't use the "canon" lore hate the game? The two biggest comic book publishers have characters that share an universe, and not only that, a lot of those characters contradict one another in many ways of how "power" and "development" goes.

The way this conversation it's going reminds me to some tabletop roleplayers that will grind to a book and use everything like if it was some sort of sacred text, how it must be said by something on the book and the fact the Game Master says something that contradicts the "established" lore in any way has said players go ballistic and start quoting books from memory fiercely.

Everyone must play however they want, and a lot of people remember other players in different ways. Something as simple as having someone be polite and nice during a TF while staying IC is something that has given me quite good impressions in the past. I really couldn't care less if the canon is followed 100% or just 1%, it's what you do and how you interact with others what will ultimately decide how you will be treated and remembered.

But if anyone, lore-followers or not, go into the stance of "the other side is wrong", well... then both are equally wrong and are not worth anyone's time. At least not mine.

EDIT PD: By the way, my main character is an atheist while my secondary main is an ascended god. How the atheist views gods? Inmortal magic people who are all over themselves.
