Freakishly Long Toes
There was plenty of "constructive criticism" offered to the Devs about this while this was on beta some weeks ago. Nothing was fixed at the time. My guess is that we may be stuck with the "big-foot feet" with this option.

I haven't seen it yet, but is it even worse than the witch boots?
(Sometimes, I wish there could be a Dev thumbs up button for quality posts, because you pretty much nailed it.) -- Ghost Falcon
Well, as one Mr. Robert Liefeld, esq. has demonstrated time and time again, drawing feet is so difficult that half the time you might as well not even bother. This could be a case of unrealistic expectations.

But hay, new costume part idea. A big boulder covering the feet that never moves.

I don't see why anyone would want to use these boots anyway. The toes are HYPER-REALISTIC in comparison to other stuff that we have, and when you look at a toon wearing them you see each individual toenail, then pan up just a bit and see mitten hands. It makes the character look like a freak of nature and it's completely mis-matched. Until we have realistic hands this piece will be useless to me.
On the flipside, I would hope the devs have enough good sense that, should they ever give us realistic hand geometry they'll go through the boot options with a fine-toothed comb and update anything with toes showing to make sure that we don't have the opposite problem.
I am a bit of an artist. Here is the "trick" to drawing feet. Or really anything. Do not "draw feet." Take a few colored pencils. A good eraser, and a smudging tool. Have a friend with a few minutes prop up a foot on a pillow while they read/have tea. Now. DO NOT draw the foot. Pick the 3 largest areas of the item you are looking at (in this case a foot) and quickly and lightly color in those values in the correct physical relationship to one another. There will be a lot of white space, its cool. Use the eraser to better shape the areas. Now, repeat. Now start very lightly coloring a few connecting areas between the three shapes. Big Shadows? Glowing bright areas? Concentrate on Value and positional relationship. Add a few details. Done. Seriously, dont overdraw it. The human mind looking at it will pick out a foot. If you try for photographic realism you are doing yourself no favors.

At best what we're going to get is new updates like this new boot option in a piece-meal fashion. Perhaps at some point they give us a few new glove options that improve on the "mitten-hands" problem but they aren't going to bother to update every other option to match it.

I give the new shoes a thumbs up.
That's all I can give it, seeing as how we don't have fingers on our hands, only inhuman flipper-like nubs.

pics?
What?
..........There are no words.
Yeah, I'm not touching this pack with a 50 yard stick. Between this and the... downright stupid 'Male Dyed Hair Long', I don't think it's worth spending points on.

I have Super Speed on about half my characters, so I haven't seen my feet in years.
The only part of any boots I ever see are the calves, and these look wonderful on the calves! Plus, about half my characters are also mutants, so I'm not bothered on this angle, either.
PS The female hair is CUTE! Am only saddened that the male hair isn't available for females. I am getting sick of using "wild" or "tall spikes" for my characters who should have big, strategically messy hair. Hair that big, and that high seems female to me, with a lot of teasing, gel and hair spray involved.
Do I want to know how stupid the hair is?
I almost don't want to look. |
It's like they took Criss Angel's hair and injected it with steroids, then beat it with an ugly stick.
I cannot express how abysmally ugly that hair is.

HOW IS THIS KIND OF FOOT WORK GOING THROUGH!? Love you guys to death, but C'MON!
Well, they did say this was a clubbing outfit, what they didn't mention was 'with her foot.'
As far as the male hair goes, we can use some more specifically villainous hairstyles like that.

I'm mostly happy with the 80's style club-wear in the Spring Fling pack. As posters noted during the beta phase, the geometry on the ladies' boots is... odd... to be kind.
To be unkind, well, they didn't shape the foot correctly. Foot fetishists, leg worshipers, podiatrists, and others are all crying out, 'My god, what is that THING?!'
So, ETA on a geometry fix for das boot?

ETA Supplied!
