man, you guys ALWAYS come up with cool stuff. Their ALL awesome

If only 1, then I'd say B. but what that other guy said about C. being cool for heavy's is right lol

C's cool for REALLY retro stuff (strapping on full rockets is safe in their future lol), but the two little things on B are so classic scifi that it's like "how is it up for debat" lol

I will admit though, A. would generally be a cool jetpack for the game.

I'm surprised A has that many votes. It's what we already have!

C looks kinda silly, but its my vote because its actually interesting.

I like both B and C, but hard pressed, I'd have to pick B. I could just imagine how fun C would be with large plumes of smoke coming out the back end.

Right -- "A" looks too much like the Raptor Pack already.

A looks like what we have in game a little. I vote B!

Prometheus: ... so what I told you was true, from a certain point of view.
Me: From a certain point of view?
Prometheus: You're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on your point of view.
Me: You're right about that. Power Blast is very pretty from a certain point of view. But that point of view is not head-on. <Kaboom> - Arcanaville.

Chose A for it's greater versatility. I'd be okay with B though if we could make the rings optional. I love those beautiful sci-fi rings, but they'd be impractical on most tech heroes, and we still need a good sci-fi backpack...

I really like B. And kinda C. A looks a bit too much like what we already have.

B is a so low hanging fruit, only a few changes to the Steampunk jet pack. Vote 4 other.

At this point I'd be willing to vote for an exact clone of the Steampunk jetpack if it were a costume item and not a temp power. That pretty much makes all the difference here.

I'm looking at the Raptor Pack, and I don't see too much of a resemblance.

The Raptor Pack has kind of an M shape, with the fins coming up to a point, then going down to the center.

Option A has kind of a Y shape, though with downward facing serifs.

If we remove the fins, they have more similarities, but Option A is a significantly sleeker design.

Beyond that, there's the matter of scale that hasn't been resolved. Option A looks like it will be much smaller than the Raptor Pack. If you look at the common elements between Option A and Option B, if Option A is the size of the Raptor Pack, then Option B would be like strapping two cat carriers to your back.

Honestly, saying "Option A is so much like the Raptor Pack that we don't need it is" about equivalent to saying "We have Gabriel's Sledgehammer and Louisiana Slugger, why would we need any alternate models for War Mace, they should be happy with just the Legacy options."

I think they've been using 3DS Max the whole time. At least, they were when I last saw them mention what program they were using.

The Raptor Pack looks blocky and awful.

61866 - A Series of Unfortunate Kidnappings - More than a coincidence?
2260 - The Burning of Hearts - A green-eyed monster holds the match.
379248 - The Spider Without Fangs - NEW - Some lessons learned (more or less.)

I went with A but really they are all good. Personally I think this game already has more than enough jet packs to combine with the rest of this tube-punk stuff to make it work.

Zero is more than enough?

Are you suggesting that the game would also work with negative numbers of Jet packs?

D: all of the above....

It actually still wouldn't matter. The person I was responding to was blindly implying that creating all of these new costume items would be an extremely trivial matter.

We are all players here so none of us know with absolute certainty exactly what it takes to get new costume items created in this game. Somehow I doubt that it would be that trivial regardless of the design tool(s) being used. If it were then after almost 8 years we should have many more hundreds or thousands of costume items available to us than we do now.

As always Standard Code Rant Applies.

I believe he was referring to the number of jet pack models we already have in the game: Raptor pack, Holiday/Longbow pack, Wyvern pack, Gold-Bricker pack, the LKT-1700 Rocket pack, and I may be forgetting one or two others. If these could be converted to costume pieces that were present 100% but only had the boosters/propellers active when a flight power was active (much like the Rocket Boots), many of the people (like myself) pushing for a more generic-looking pack would be satiated.

Granted, I do not know how difficult of a task the conversion would be, I am just saying that if it had already been done, I would have voted B instead of A because we would have already had some more modern-looking pack models available.

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.

There is the veteran's award pack, the bank mission pack, the 30 day pack you can buy in the store, the rocket boots costume piece, and probably one or two more that I'm not even aware of. Nearly all of these can be purchased in the store.

This game has no shortage of jet packs. But I suppose we could re-intrepret this as an air tank or air recycler which all cosmonauts need, right?

I really don't want to make an issue out of it. I'm sure whatever the devs give us will be fine!

And NONE of these are currently costume items - they are all temp powers at the moment.
I'm pretty sure that's the critical point MajorDecoy was making here.

Point taken.

Going with B. I like the look of A, and C is unique from all the other jet pack powers and backpacks currently available. But in fairness and in keeping with the theme of "Retro", B is definitely the right look. Especially for a "Rocketeer" inspired character...

I also voted B, and to quote "Reinforcements" from Cheat Commandos:
"Justice-Rocket-Backpack-Rocket-Rocket, FIRE!"

I like B, rings and all, but I will admit that the rings on the cartoony retro sci-fi stuff do look a little "French poodle-ish" to me. If you wanted to make a darker, more sinister "rocketpack-wearing goon" type character, you wouldn't want them.
