  1. Thank you! This gives me a reason to invest some money in the gunslinger pack now.
  2. I voted for B because it does seem the most retro sci-fi, but I would LOVE gun C, too. It's like the little snub-nosed pistol of the retro sci-fi gun world. And I would totally want to call it a 'bopp gun'.
  3. I like both B and C, but hard pressed, I'd have to pick B. I could just imagine how fun C would be with large plumes of smoke coming out the back end.
  4. Is the only 'new' thing in this pack the bow? I was hoping that the toga/sandals/laurel from valentine's events would be included - the toga particularly is something I would pay a few points for to have unlocked on all my toons.

Also, a suggestion: It would be really, really great when new costume sets are offered on the market for the announcements on the website to actually list each individual piece you're getting. It saves me the trouble of having to go into the character creator and hunt down each individual piece to look at it before I decide whether or not to buy the pack.
  5. Actually, LastLeprechaun, I'm not talking about the guns but solely about the female costume. Nobody is claiming, aside from the pre-tint, that it's an ugly, poorly made costume. The problem we have with it is that the only costume options that female toons get is a skimpy costume that would be the type only worn by a prostitute.

As for "This is the comic book genre. The chicks are sexy and the dudes are swollen... that's why we're here. There was not some secret back door entrance in comics that any of you slipped through where the heroic girls are flat chested and wearing frumpy layers. "

No. That's not why I'm here. That's never why I read comics. In fact, the unrealistic massively huge boobs and muscles are one of the things I hated and still hate about comics. I read them because I liked reading stories about superheroes. Also, you can still be sexy without looking like a damned streetwalker, without having a triple F cup (don't get me started on how the women's chest slider's SMALLEST size is about a C-cup), and while wearing more clothing than a band-aid. If I wanted to see that sort of stuff, I could look at pin-up models.

It IS effing sexist when men get clothing that resembles something a gunslinger would've worn in the old west and women ONLY get the clothing that a PROSTITUTE would've worn.

Well, your bit of clever wordplay there gave me a new idea for a toon concept. I could make a giggly airheaded slutty old west cathouse *****/barmaid named Ginger Ginslinger. I could put her in all sorts of inappropriate clothing for fighting, and hang around in Pocket D selling booze and myself for 50 inf.

Because the female 'old west' parts would be perfect for it.

Sarcastic grumbling aside, I should like to say that the quality of the work going into the parts (except the pre-tinting, which nobody likes) is not in question, at all. They did a great job in making the parts. The problem is the clear 'boys have this role, girls have this role' message. Nobody in the old west dressed like this unless they were a literal woman of 'negotiable affections'. Even if they'd wanted to go with thematically gender appropriate roles for the set, the female costume parts should've been *way* more conservative. But we've also been told that we don't get floor-length dresses, so of course, we just get to dress like literal whores.
  7. You know, I'm glad I'm not the only player who's a little bit... upset... by the female costume pieces in this set. It's times like these that I'm reminded how much the gaming industry is dominated by men.

I have a toon. She's a gunslinger. Even has a variation on 'old west gunslinger'. When I heard there were going to be gunslinger themed pieces, I was excited. When I saw the male costume pieces, I was even more excited. Theeeen I saw what females get: we get to be cathouse whores! Silly me. I was hoping for gunslinger leathers like the male toons get.

You know what's just as bad? A lot of the pieces female toons get look like they're just only slightly modified off of the steampunk pack.

At least female toons finally frigging get to have a cigar, like male/large toons have had for only the LAST SEVEN YEARS.

Guys, you are seriously starting to alienate a large portion of your female playerbase.

I've purchased nearly every booster pack or costume pack for my account. This'll be the first that I will be skipping, much as I like the male costume parts. I kind of don't like being told 'men get to be gunslinging heroes, women only get to be whores'. Yet another disappointment on the list of post-Freedom disappointments.
  8. *sigh*

I can remember when BAF and Lambda were first introduced, the devs said they were purposely designed to be short so that those of us who don't have the extended play time to run long TFs and trials would have something we could participate in.

Now, they're taking away one of the best rewards for those two trials: the empyrians. Which I have been using to unlock stuff that I can't unlock with astrals, and we're being told the only way to get emps is to run the other trials. I don't know about anyone else, but the last time I ran an UG trial - only the 3rd or 4th time, because it's so effing hard nobody wants to run it - it took over 2 hours, and we still failed. Keyes has almost an equal failure rate, even less people recruiting for it, and takes probably an hour - of a lot of frustrating, not-fun running around like a chicken with your head cut off (and yes, I know the patch notes say this is going to change. Good. Maybe I'll find more motivation to run Keyes other than when I see the very occasional badge attempt).

I could run two STFs or three ITFs in that same amount of time - and there's a hell of a lot smaller chance that I'm going to FAIL and not get any reward at all. Not to mention, those two task forces (nor Lambda) turn my computer into a frigging slideshow, even with my audio off, my graphics on the lowest possible setting, and nothing else running on my computer. Not to mention further I'd have a lot more fun grinding out multiple STFs/ITFs in a row than I would running an UG trial.

So. This is yet another change coming down the line since Freedom launched that rankles me and makes me less motivated to play the game - and rethink my subscription. It's already bad enough that there are costume parts I can't unlock with anything other than Empyrians which CANNOT be earned any other way than grinding trials, but you guys are cutting down even the number of trials that reward them to the trials that are still tiresomely difficult and more importantly - REALLY LONG.

Just WTF? Why not incentivize people to run UG and Keyes instead of punishing those of us who can't/don't have the time to invest in them? Either that, or list the stuff that can only be bought with Empyrian merits to be bought with Astrals, too. Or make Empyrians available through some other manner - like trading reward tokens in for them or something.

I know there are hardcore players who can manage to log on and grind out stuff on various toons every night, but not all of us have the time to do that (I work one full time job, have another side job, and *somebody* has got to do stuff like keep the house clean and run errands). Why are you punishing us?

If you want people to run other trials more, make THOSE trials give more rewards instead of taking away the rewards other trials give. Crap like this is why most of my (relatively few, for someone playing since 2005) level 50s pretty much stop after the alpha slot gets unlocked.

Oh, don't even get me started on the charging 15 emps to unlock new stuff. I thought that's why I was paying my $15/month.
  9. Wow, having read all the replies to this thread, I have a few things to say:

Many of us work 40 hours a week at not-crappy jobs that pay just fine. We just happen to work non-traditional hours - where I work is open 24/7/365. *NOBODY* works a 9-5 Mon-Fri schedule. So don't tell us to 'get a better job'. Sorry that my working a job for the past 4 1/2 years where my normal hours encompass almost ALL of 2XP weekend - thus meaning I miss *all* of it unless I take time off of work makes you think I'm some kind of loser because, hey, I'd like to get in on all the fun that I usually miss. Because maybe I'm not the sort who likes to fake sick and call in work when I know that I'll be putting stress on my coworkers. And some of those jobs? They require more time in advance if you want to request leave time.

And for those people going 'durr, well, just play after work' - I work 10 hour days and when I get home at 3AM, not only do I have much less time to play than people who work shorter days, it's kind of hard to find many people on at that hour of the day. Not to mention, someone has to cook dinner, feed the pets, and tend to the other various around-the-house chores that crop up daily. Which'd leave me all of 1/2 hour to play, which is probably just about as long as it takes to get logged in and find a team running a TF, let alone play with them.

So maybe before you all harangue those of us who took time off work, maybe you should consider that not everybody works the same days and hours of the week, and some of us aren't willing to lie to our bosses and call in sick, and for some of us, getting that leave time off maybe isn't so easy as it is for YOU.

And to anyone saying 'well you can just get xp faster in AE' - maybe some of us would rather enjoy the game content instead of just farming our way to 50.

Devs, a lot of this would be avoided if you gave us, say, maybe a month's notice that 2XP is coming instead of 2 weeks.

And for those of you who think you're being clever by saying 'oh yeah, I'm SO SURE they moved it just to ruin your weekend!' - we KNOW that isn't the case. But thanks for the smarm. We're upset that some poor planning went into scheduling the event. Or, sorry, did I miss the notice that no negative feedback is allowed?
  10. First you give us less than 2 weeks notice that 2xp is coming. A lot of us scrambled to clear some time off work, including me.

Now we get less than 72 hours notice that - woops, there'll be no 2xp.

Devs, is there a way that you can at least give us some further advance on this stuff? My boss is going to start thinking I'm some kind of flake.
  11. Can't wait to play this when I get home. Question, though - the toon in the email sent out - am I seeing this right, and she has a buttcape? Is that a new costume option coming or is it just me seeing things?
  12. I have wanted a projectile vomit power (Like Vahz corpses/abominations) FOREVER. Expanding it into a powerset, what about pestilence? Someone whose attacks are disease based.
