They're all up on Netflix anyway. I've given up on the idea of buying a series on DVD.

your = Belonging to you.
you're = Contraction meaning "You are."
Ur = The name of an ancient Mesopotamian city.
ur = This is not a word.

Gonna give this one a pass. Shiny picture, but same old stories of deus ex machina solutions from Data or Wesley, techno babble jibber jabber, and happy endings all the time.

Message from Star Fleet Command to Captain Jean Luc Picard:
"Captain Picard, we have reviewed all medical records and logs from your Chief Medical Officer and Counselor Troi. We agree that you are certified as fit to resume command of the Enterprise-D, despite being turned into a Borg, decimating the Federation fleet and nearly conquering Earth. Have a nice day!"

I would have really wanted this, if they had updated the special effects and made it widescreen. What I saw in that preview? Eh.

I'm more concerned with price then anything..and I've yet to get any of the Star Trek Series on dvd so I will most likely just do that before even thinking of getting blu-ray.

I'm tempted, but unsure. I got TOS on Blu Ray and enjoyed it... I'd want to see some more scenes in HD before making up my mind. I suppose that's what the "sampler" is for.

On the Nerdist podcast they were talking about these... they had to go through and "remake" all the show pretty much because there was something wrong with SD versions. Like they were degraded or something. So all the footage is not "up-converted" it is taken from the original film and and re-edited together with the new special effects to create the HD resolution.

I just got the complete series on DvD...

Think I'll pass. Looks shiny enough to me as is.

Capt. Biohazrd - PCSAR
Talsor Tech - Talsorian Guard

Man, you know that by the time TNG is on the nerual jack all media will be switching over to direct 4D Delta Wave transmission and you'll just have to buy the series all over again.

Having only the different themed collections on DVD (Borg, Q, Klingon), i have no problems getting this new upgraded version of TNG. Sure, i can watch the show on Netflix, but with any luck this thing will have enough special features to keep me sated.

As far as I know, they didn't actually do any NEW special effects. But they did/do have to go back to the original film and re-edit all 26-thousand-some cuts back together to make these HD transfers, as the only complete and fully edited versions they had were on VHS which were stuck at standard def. So.. it's still a lot of work. My guess is they'll avoid doing any new FX, possibly just doing some cleanup work if needed.
