Reflections on a new primary

MM's have a total of 6 primaries to choose from. They have 10 secondaries that they can pull from. I think there is some "wiggle" room for @ least another primary.

I think it would be quite neat (unique) to have an "ALL ICE" primary.

Coralex comes to mind.

I think they have good lore and look really interesting.

If you've ever seen them lumbering around @ the ferry/barge area in Port Oakes in packs of a dozen or so, they really have a frightful visage.

Any way that's my two cents (after inflation and the terrible economy it's more like one cent).

My wager is that after Staff fighting we'll see a new MM primary. Okay, thta's also my hope, so maybe my guessing is effected by personal desire this time...

I put this idea out there a while ago so I'll be brief here. I would like a generic henchman set where we can choose from a range of costumes and weapon packages.

I think it would sell.

First, all I really want is a MM who has a damage aura.

For new primaries, I was thinking of elemental MMs. Fire, ice, lightning, sonic, heck throw in toxic. 3 little elementals, two mid sized elements, and a big elemental, something like a permanent bonfire for fire for example. A couple of blasts of the same element, and all you need is to come up with lv 18 special powers for them. All I ask is you give one of them a damage aura in place of either one of the attacks, or as the lv 18 power.

Devs, make is so.

With the german shephard noncombat pet, and rumors of a wolf transformation travel power, I think it's time to get hopeful for an animal summoning set.

At best we get awesomesauce on a stick.

At worst our dreams are horribly crushed.

So, with the exeception of electric (lightning) powers, Demons?
2x Fire (Fiery Demonling and Ember Demon)
2x Ice (Cold Demonling and Demon Prince)
2x Toxic/Fire (Hellfire Demonling and Gargoyle)
And the "sonic" debuff comes from your hellfire attacks.

I think if we do get another MM set, it would be this, mostly.

1. They are releasing animal non-combat pets
2. They released an animal tranformation travel power
3. Staff fighting would be the only real weapon that perfectly coincides with an Animal MM for Druids, Indians, Tribesman, ect.

That looks to me to be the most logical choice for the next MM Primary.

Personally, I hope it is. I'd love to have a Beast Master*.


*Mega bonus points if they'd get over the overt PC issue keeping us from getting Native American items!

Even if the next primary -isn't- a beast set, I think it's safe to say that one is certainly in the works somewhere down the line, given the requests for it and the buzz of excitement when the 4-legger model was first introduced.

I'd be pretty jazzed by a critter MM set, depending on what it is. I'd really love a wolf style theme, but I'm curious what they might come up with.

MM Primaries I'd like to see (roughly in order of preference):

1) Elementals including 3 fire pets, 2 air pets and an earth pet.

2) Recycled heroes like Longbow or Vanguard.

3) Recycled villians like Arachnos (namely because the animations are already done for the Spiders).

4) Dragons...because they're cool.

5) Supernatural creatures like Vampires, Werewolves and the like...because they're cool.

However I'd like to see the Devs take some risks and break out of the 3-2-1 mold for MMs and explore other options. An Elemental MM could have 4 pets representing the four basic elements and then a fifth one (the T3) that could be an amalgam of the other 4. 5 pets instead of 6 but the sum total of the HP and damage would be tweaked to match that of a standard MM.

I'd like to see this in customization for thugs.

My own wish at this point is simply for pets that are small. I am aware of how annoying my robots can be in closed spaces, and demons even more so, and I would like players who enjoy masterminds not to be a burden to teammates that way. If I could pick an alternate look for my bots that made them the scale of the various drone units I'd do it in a flash.

I would like to point out that beast summoning is thinking too small.

I want dinosaurs. T1 pet, Velocipedes. T2 pet I have no idea. T3 pet, a T-Rex. I don't care about realism! Do a Jurassic park on em! I shall not be happy until my pets chow down on Hellions.

But how about this? Reflection summoning. Summoning aspects of your personality.

Two ideas I've had for a while:

Mind Control Mastermind; his/her minions are mind controlled heroes. They'd be watered-down-for-balance versions of character classes; say, three "scrappers", a "corruptor" & "controller" for the second tier, and a tank for the third tier pet. Ideally, you'd be able to make their costumes in the costume creator. Person attacks would be psychic blasts; level 18 flavor power would be some kind of confuse.

Mad Scientist mastermind. Has for pets three Experiments, two Assistants (with, say, lightning and freeze guns), and the top tier pet is your Creation; I've always pictured it as something resembling the Doom Cyberdemon.

I always thought a cool MM powerset would be something along the lines of "Institutional Academia", where you were basically a Professor and your minions were grad students who would do anything for a letter of recommendation. The upgrade levels could be called "term paper" or something like that. It would be easy because they could just look like grad students, but their powers could be any combination of things- beam rifles, ninja stars, broadswords, etc.

...

Whatever! I'd play it.

I've had a couple of fleshed out suggestions for new Mastermind primaries in the Lady-Jades's Power Suggestion Box for some time now. One is for Plants, which has scrappy Briars, supporting Flowers, and a lockdown Shambler, uses Thorny Assault personal attacks, and includes a Weed power for henchmen that allows them a chance to "grow back" automatically if defeated. The other is for Thought Control (which I still need to revise), which has controlled Civilians, Agents, and a hero Thrall, who are given physical and then psionic resources to make them more powerful. The Thought Control MM needs a better angle for heroic use, and I need to change some of the powers (add ranged attack for base Tier 1, swap Mind Lance for other personal attack, stick to basic Confuse instead of Charm Foe). I'll try to post the revised version later today.

Cold Domination, Kinetics, and Radiation Emission are the only existing secondaries (Pain is approximately Empathy for this discussion) that have yet to be proliferated over to MM's - any thoughts as to why?

This would actually work since so many of the mechanics are already in place in different features

I still want a Rock band mm set that utilizes sonic attacks and ive been wanting it since i10? Your toon is a lead singer the tier 3 is tripple threat: buffing dances, sonic singing attacks and mesmerizing acting
