Other than the Christmas cards from my home server, I got Warhammer 40k Space Marine*, a pack of cigs, and a box of hot sauce. Along with candy and fruits from the stocking.
*I consider it a present even though it was a prize, I won it on Christmas day.

Well, just got a gigantic "DENIED" on hooking up my TV. Got a cable that bridges the distance between my PC and my TV just fine. But the HDMI connector on the card is jammed all the way at the top of the card and the HDMI plug doesn't fit! Now the actual CONNECTOR would fit just fine. But the damn PLUG portion simply will NOT fit.
Okay figured it out. The connector is a MINI-HDMI to HDMI. Not HDMI to HDMI or Micro-HDMI to HDMI.
Quick trip back to the store to get the right connector and BOOM.

Hyper, I love that you have your super fancy, modern setup.. And a phone with a chord on it in the same shot.
You know how as a teen you really hated getting clothes your mother bought for you, basing her knowledge of what's "in" by watching TV. Well when you are approaching 50, it still happens. So nothing cool from my Mum.
As for my Dad, who at least understands some of Geekdom (my love of Science Fiction books, TV and movies came from him) but there would be no way he could get a purchase of any type of Geek swag or Tech pass my Mom's intractable insistence of practicality. Why would I need an SSD when what I "really need" is a nice belt and a 6 pack of tube socks. 
Friends may get me something mildly geeky to feed my anime, SciFi/Fantasy or City of Heroes addiction but I won't be getting together with them until after the new years.

I got the Criterion collection's set for the old movie Vampyr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampyr), which is an awesome film. Ok, so it's more "arthouse" than "geek", but it has vampires in it, so that counts, right?
