Discussion: Featured Items at the Paragon Market - 12/20/11
I had an email about this from "The City of Heroes Team" this morning.
It said "Out-Elf Santa in this 11 piece bundle etc etc..." and a big shiny red button saying "LEARN MORE"
I was very anxious to learn more so I clicked the shiny red button...
and this is what I saw:

25% seemed like a great deal and I bought a bunch. 50% is better, I'll prolly buy some more. I don't see what the big deal is.
I paid full price back in the day and got nothing but the slots. Under this program, I not only got the slots, but reward tokens and some nifty bonuses as well.
As has been mentioned often, no one is forcing anyone to buy anything, ever. How many times have I bought a game at full price and then found it discounted within a month or so? (too many to count) It just doesn't bother me. No one can know the future and the idea that it is a personal affront to have two sales back to back on the same prouduct is unsupportable to me. (Don't tell Valve. They do this all the time.)
Also, when are we going to get some new winter clothes options? If you need some ideas: Mrs. Claus (Sexy but SFW).

Edit: The hair bow from Gunslinger works though.
I dont really suppor the "X power can be used to grief RP" argument, as, its been pointed out, that argument could go for literally anything in game, but Id completely support addint this setting to Null's options.

Similarly, computer hardware is a moving target - while the cost of "a good, decent computer" usually hovers around $1000, the specifications of what you can get for that price are always changing (upward). You just have to suck it up, pick your time and make your purchase, and accept that within a year (two at most) Moore's law will have rendered it obsolete.

[QUOTE=Fay;4041192]Alrighty. I figured I'd reply to this since I see it ALL the time from people. None of this is actual knowledge from NCSoft or Paragon Studios, but it is my understanding of their choices.
First let me correct you in that i never said Every issue came with powersets. What I said was those that Did, were free. I also don't recall reading where VIP's would be getting free powersets with CoH Freedom. I really would appreciate it if you know of the link that you post it in a reply, private message is fine if you prefer, so that I can read it for myself.
Have you noticed though; None of the new sets, Time Manipulation aside, have been free. So VIP's are on a 1:3 Ratio to actually buying them. That's fair in your opinion? To be treated as 2nd class to people that will spend even more money than the $15 a month we VIP's continue to pay.
I just can't understand the logic of a VIP being okay with being treated as a Premium or Free player.
Thanks for the well worded reply though. It was appreciated.

The value of something like character slots don't depreciate in the same way that aging downloadable games do, either, so again, not exactly analogous.
Yeah, nobody's being "forced". But it's undeniable that limited-time sales generate incentive and can be subtly coercive, especially in the absence of complete knowledge on the part of the consumer. When one side holds that power in a transaction and the other does not, it's easy to believe that one is being taken advantage of.* Valve has a reputation for such sales. Paragon did not, until now, have a history of putting things on sale more than once, let alone at increasing discounts, let alone within a week. And it was certainly unexpected, given that certain items I've been waiting to go on sale since the market launched, still have not gone on sale even once.
Still, I've learned my lesson now, as a diligent consumer should; if one of those items I want goes on sale for 25% off, I'll wait a week. And if a 50% discount doesn't come along, it's not my loss.
*Even though I now think there's a good possibility that this may have been a mistake/oversight, given that it didn't make it into the initial patch notes.

I bought two sets of five slots at the 25% off price, so of course I couldn't live with myself if I didn't buy two sets at the 50% off price. But now I'm maxed out at 48 unlocked slots on the only server I use, so I would just suggest, before they go down to 75% off, to let us have another row of slots on each server. Kthx
How Do You Pick The Corset In The Barbarian Set?
You can do a pretty fair 'sexy santa' with the Barbarian Set +Santa Gloves and hat. It'd be a lot sexier if the Santa Hat came with hair...

THIS TOON IS NOW A HERO!
...a week after a 25% discount ended. Try to keep up here, sweetie.

They may not have gotten enough bites on the 25% price, so they decided to go lower. Or they wanted to make players in need of slots happy and go for more. Who knows.
I for one am grateful that the sale happened again, as I missed it by accident the first time around. And I'm sure plenty of players are happily buying extra slots at 50% off. Buyer beware and enjoy your stuff that you got... sometimes you get it sooner, sometimes you get it cheaper, sometimes you pay extra. It's the nature of any business. Just live with it: it's the nature of the thing.

Oh yes, constantly. My immense backlog of games is actually a "help" in this regard - it makes me think twice about getting, say, Skyrim right now at full price when I have enough to keep me busy until next year when it'll be deeply discounted.

In one sense, the consoles are actually good for PC's. Almost everyone develops for consoles which are five year old hardawre. A modest Pc will run just about anything out there.
I'd make a snappy reply, if I had any idea what this was supposed to mean.

I guess miscommunications tend to happen when a conversation is based on tortured analogies and false equivalencies.
Is there *any* chance that the earnable temps could be sold as perma, especially Golden Rings power. We have decent melee (Sands of Mu), ranged (Nemi Staff, Black Wand). I dont see any reason why we couldnt have the others as well. We pretty much have year-round access to everything that the Winter Event gives now anyway.
