Seriousdly.. this pisses me off even more about that damn dog..
So first your mad about the price of the dog and now your mad because they apparently listened and lowered the price of the next vanity pet. Obviously you're going to be mad no matter what they do, so why shouldn't they ignore everything you say?

Can't you do both?

So alas, vanity pets remain on the shelf with no use for me. I like them, but not at the expense of not having a Blue Wisp pet out.
Which to me is where the dev shot themselves in the foot by changing it so you can only have one pet on a toggle. I would have bought all of the vanity pets, but apparently the devs don't want my money on these items....

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

Solution: Get both pets and then the average price is pitched perfectly at 330 Points each.

It's called market testing. The dog was something 'new' even if it was just a vanity pet that did nothing like the others we have. They released it, people didn't like the price. Now we have another vanity pet, they lowered the price.

It's just like the thanksgiving sale. If they pick a price and it doesn't work out, they'll test another price on a similar product (See: Enhancement sets on sale). If the new items sell well it dictates a price point for future products and lowering existing products because that price moves them.

This. The dog skeleton was completely new. As far as the snowman? All they did was shrink an existing model and call it a day.

Why *is* is that we can only have out one pet now? I missed that memo and also miss my little army of midgets.

Resources. Too many pets strain the system. And if their intention is to keep adding vanity pets this frequently, then somebody who bought them all will eventually be able to fill half of Atlas Park with them.
So a cap makes sense. Whether the cap should be "1" is a matter for debate; but I imagine it was the easiest way to write the code.

I really do hope they reconsider - 1 vanity and 1 functioning pet please!

But yeah, I'll rarely use this except for some RP downtime I suppose. If then. So I'll hold off for a while but may jump on it before the time runs out on buying it.

Edit - who am I kidding. Boughten.

For 160 pts. I snatched that up with the quickness It's cute as all getout. Still don't have the dog though Going to wait for it to be on sale. I'd rather have that but just can't justify the 500 to myself.

I REALLY am unhappy with only one at a time. Makes it very hard to justify buying all the pets. Worse than that however, making the pets a toggle is very... annoying. Especially with the combat pets.

They drop with a mean stare and have their own taunt aura, but usually it would be recharged by the time they did crap out. Now they drop quickly and I have to wait for them to recharge. With making it a toggle, they could have at least removed the recharge time...

I really hope that's just a quick fix with a more elegant solution also allowing for more than one pet in the future.

I couldn't agree more.

Yeah, I bought the dog too. Why is the dog 500 pts? It doesn't even bark!!!

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Why is the kind of thing not obvious?
The Snowbeast model has been in the game for years. There's nothing new about it.
The German Shepherd involved an entirely new body model. You're paying for the development costs of a brand new feature for the game.

500 VS 160 is quite a bit of difference you know.

And no, it is not that obvious to me because I haven't seen the mini Snowbeast yet, and to those that are new to this game, they probably haven't seen it either.

Those new players, both German Shepard and Snowbeast are just as "new" but one of the price tags is more than 300%. Yeah, try to explain that one to them. You can't just think of this game from the "veteran's" point of view.

No it isn't, it's $2 dollars vs $6.25. That's a difference of $4.25. If they can't afford it, don't buy it.

It doesn't matter if someone is new to the game or not. Six bucks is a fair price for an animal skeleton that's never been in the game before. Get over it.

I don't think the dog was priced at 500 solely because of development time, more they thought players would freak for something so new and snap it up in droves. I really really doubt any competent business would model their individual market prices based on recouping development time spent.

I'm sure there was more than one reason motivating the price of 500 for the dog. I'm also sure the players did snap the dog up in droves. The complaints about the prices sound no different than the ones made when the Boosters were first put out for sale. Despite the complaints from a vocal minority the company made a killing on the boosters.
