For those of you who were at the Plummit... and those of you who weren't...
What sort of questions were they asking in the survey?
The other was a 3-page survey ranging from the Plummit itself to the kinds of things we wanted to see (and what we DIDN'T), specific/follow-up information for certain topics (for example, when Ross Borden the marketing guy told me that if I had suggestions for him, we should talk during the cocktail hour - we kept missing each other - so I put a list of suggestions on the survey directed to him and Black Pebble), rating the features we'd seen presented on a scale (what we were most excited to least excited about), etc. It was fairly extensive.
I know quite a few folks commented on the latter survey that lack of advance notice was a major deterrent to being able to do this sort of thing. I talked to Zwill, Brian, and a couple other folks over the weekend, and it's HOPED (allow me to stress that word) that for the next one, they make sure it's announced at least 3 months in advance, and NOT that close to a holiday (or if it is, something like Memorial Day which helps some folks with an additional day off to use for a vacation).
Now to see what they make of the info...

They ARE going on tour, right? Paragon Studios devs are like rock stars, trashing hotels and only eating the green skittles. It's crazy!
Can't wait.

D_R, thanks for the question you got answered for me.
Note: I didn't really LIKE the answer. But c'est la vie.
Now if they'll do something about the "We're announcing it 2 weeks from now" penchant they have, maybe I can attend the next one. It's all the last-minute announcement BS that's REALLY irritating.

How about they give ALL of us a survey? That'd be swell.

Indeed
I think I still have mine (I had additional info I wanted to add, so Avatea said I could scan it and send it to her). Let me ask if I can post the 3-page general survey to the forums. No promises on what she'll say.

wont name names since I talked to several people about this at various points during the weekend and don't want to attribute comments to the wrong people.
They didn't like the short notice this year either but those working on the planning were told basically that they could either do it with little notice or not do anything. The "not do anything" option was one they didn't want to set a precedent for, so they chose the lesser evil of "really short notice".
Oddly, I didn't get the long survey (the one that really matters to me). I've looked through all my stuff and I have nothing like that. I was putting everything in the schwag bag they gave us when we got there, so it would all be in the same place.
Can you send me the survey after scanning but before filling it out Ko? I'd really appreciate it.
Oh, and it's a possibility (perhaps just a small possibility) that we may be getting future things like this during the summer, which would fit really well into my "outside the event" plans of being a D.O.M. and watching women wearing less clothing in public as they walk by me. They aren't looking at the events themselves being outside since you never know what the weather might do, but they'd like to be able to have it so that people visiting outside aren't shivering. Poor Megumi Yamato (Shin from Off The Cape). His shivering made us miss Turg and newchemicals at Schaub's on Friday since we stepped into a desert shop for coffee, etc and to be able to warm up.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

I'd love a survey too.
AND I'd love it even more if they did this sort of thing somewhere in the NON-coastal US. This game has been out there for 7 years and they have NEVER to my knowledge done an event anywhere in the middle part of the US. Do something I can reasonably drive to and I'll be there with bells on. It's WAY past time they showed us middles some serious love.
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
At the very least, just throw together some multiple choice questions on a web page, and we'll happily tick off the boxes.
One great advantage that the Internet affords is the facility with which data can be gathered. (Extrapolating from the aggregate isn't any easier, though.)
I see DR/Samuraiko has already gotten the ball rolling, so instead of starting a new thread, I'll just add to hers.
I talked to Zwill to find out about next year & the answer I got was that he couldn't promise that there would be a Pummit in 2012. He did say Paragon Studios very much likes doing an event like this & they would very much like to do one in 2012, but Zwill couldn't PROMISE that there would be one. I don't know why Sam & I have discrepancies in our information.
I also found out from Zwill that 3 months notice was the longest notice he thought he'd be able to give.
As TJ mentioned above, Zwill also said that a different time was being considered, possibly summer.
I'm not sure if this is something Zwill said or if I heard it from Brian Clayton during the opening session, but an event like this, with the presence of such a large number of the developers in attendance ,was pretty much only going to happen here in the Bay Area. That makes sense to me when I consider how many of the development team showed up. (Maybe as many as 40?) Can you imagine the expense & especially the hit to productivity if Paragon Studios sent so many people anywhere else? I think Paragon Studios events outside the Bay Area will be limited to Meet & Greet style events.
It's not that they hate you, or don't care about your loyalty, or think you're any less deserving a fan, it's just that it's not feasible for the kind of event that happend this last weekend to take place anywhere else.
So... like the awesome videographer said, start saving up if you think you'd like to come on out. If this thing happens you'll probably get no more than 3 month's notice. It might happen sometime during the summer. (So pack your shorts & your windbreaker, microclimates don't ya know?)
Actually, that might be something we'd want to discuss to help with planning. When would it be best for you for the potential 2012 Pummit to be held? Summer? Keep it in the Fall, but earlier? Obviously it's not going tobe the same for everyone, but maybe we can help out by providing trend info?
Well next year will most likely be out of the question for me anyways...going to have double-jaw surgery sometime next year (Feb./March?) and have to take at least 14 days off of work for that...so there goes the vacation days I'm saving up
To be honest though, I don't think I'd fly and stay a night (or two) just to go to something like this. Sure it'd be neat to meet the devs (and Zwill/Avatea/etc!) but...it's not like I'd have any important questions besides, "When will we be able to color customize Hasten and/or Super Speed?!"

I understand that they're, for some reason, terrified of people not being able to be in-house if an emergency arises (the supposed excuse for not going anyplace else). You'd think they'd never heard of remote connectivity, VPNs, or anything of the sort...

If they can send a small group to an East Coast Comicon, they can damn well send a group to Indianapolis or Columbus or Atlanta with equal facility.
It's not that they hate us. It's just their grasp of logistics is...well, there's not a nice word for it.

What IS unreasonable to me is to expect those in the central regions to ALWAYS have to travel long distance if we want to go where they are. Show us some love guys. Haven't we waited long enough?

Being the eternal optimist, I put it down more to "who knows what the hell NCsoft is going to do next/economy ups-downs/Marketing will kill us if we commit/we're releasing something uberbig next year and might not have the time" stuff as to the caution, but I really do think they'll hold one.

Probably because I'd asked Brian and Zwill on Sat night when the alcohol was flowing a bit more freely and they seemed quite flush on the success of the summit. Once they sobered up the following morning, reality might have sunk in.

Well what if they have it in March? Have your face chopped up, glued back together, then while you're unconscious, they stuff you in a packing crate and drop-ship you to Cali? You wake up with a nice drug-induced mellow in a relatively warm, comfy climate.

Well I'm pretty slim/slender and can fit into a regular sized (okay maybe large sized now) luggage suitcase...
So...if that happens I can't complain too much
But I was planning on playing CoH for those 14 days (or at least 10-12 days since I'm guessing the first day or two I'll be too drugged up...but maybe not).
